Dormero Hotel Halle

Halle|2.15km from city centre
I really like 'classic' hotels: sweeping staircases, uniquely shaped rooms, vintage furniture, slightly creaky hallways etc. Dormero fits the bill. but.... Hospitality is key. I arrived at the hotel at 23:06. I was told I had no reservation. After insisting, I was told that my reservation was cancelled because I was too late, the desk closes at 23.00, and why did I not know that. I tried digging into my high school German to apologise, but was then confronted with the fact that I may not refer to the desk clerk as 'Du', but should use 'Sie' (I remember this, I should have used 'you' (Sie)) instead of 'you' (Du) as a matter of politeness). Then she complained I had a 'foreign' phone number so she couldn't contact me to check if I was coming (I am a global traveller, but have a phone from a neighbouring EU country. SMS/whatsapp/phone calls all work.) Anyway, it took at least 15 minutes for the clerk to 'retrieve' my reservation and get me the key. some background about my role in this. I looked up the hotel on the largest hotel website, but booked on the hotel's own site. Why give more money to the platform. So, you think the hotel would value my consideration. I received the email confirmation and just checked quickly that the date was correct. I was planning to check in to the hotel before my business dinner at 19.00, but my train arrived an hour late, so I had to run to dinner. This stuff happens, and you hope that accommodations can accommodate this. I have come across hotels with early desk closing. They always mail or text separately that this is the case, and then describe how to enter hotel of pick up key after hours (ever heard of a key-code entry system?). Anyway, next trip I may book the corporate box hotel and skip the quaint. A pity.

B&B HOTEL Halle (Saale)
3.8/520 Reviews
The hotel is nicely and centrally located, basic needs are within reach of under 5 min walk. The room, however, is too poorly equipped - no telephone, no slippers, no safebox, etc. The staff's attitude was not so friendly also, I did not feel welcomed and would rather just check myself in with the machine they have near the front door. All in all, it was a nice stay but I still think they could do better even just for the cheapest rooms.
Dorint Charlottenhof Halle (Saale)

The Dorint Hotel in Halle is likely to be one of the largest in the city. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Many of the things that were built 30 years ago after the ”wende” comes so slowly in the years, but renovations are also noticeable. We have sleeped well in beds. The sanitary facilities were in order. We have not used the spa area and breakfast, but that is a reason to come again.
Ibis Styles Halle

· Although we asked for 2 single beds (also via email at 20-4), this was not taken into account. (for the t****eth time in line) We confirmed our request at 20-4. The morning of our departure (10-06) we were notified that there was no available; for us too late to find something else. The (old) lady at the receipt answer brutally, norrious and angry when we commented on this. (the younger lady had understanding for us, and we got a bought for two drinks from her). The bar was not crewed ( one had to call someone from the bar or take something out of the refrigerator); the result was that the bar was unsfeatured and left up to 3 years ago. The room is small as well as the bed (1.4m = suitable for couples or children, not for 2 men) , without refrigerator, coffee or tea facilities, and only with a small air-conditioning that did not meet. Breakfast is good but not really extensive in terms of hot food (no flush, peach, sauce ....) Normal coffee is not automatic, so you need to take 4 x expresso to fill your bag. This hotel is too expensive for what you get compared to other hotels, we will not come back here.
TRYP by Wyndham Halle

Since I am on a professional way in hotels, I would like to illustrate my perceptions in the hotel below. Beside the entrance there was a clearly visible ”teppet” of birdscot, which could be removed with a high pressure cleaner. The reception itself was friendly, but the room itself was relatively small and the double bed with a size of - at least felt - 140 x 200 cm also, just like the TV and the bathroom, very small. Walls and tape floors showed clear traces of use and the ceiling lamp was also sticked with the sticker of a German football club. To do so, the bathroom door was damaged. On the reception, we were informed that the restaurant did not open on the day of our arrival, since - lt. outdoor in the chair - no staff was available. The breakfast room was not cleaned on the first day, partly not newly covered or only partly covered. On the second day, this was better. Finally, the airing in the breakfast area could tolerate cleaning. The same applies to the heaters in the lighthouse.
City-Hotel am Wasserturm Halle

A very nice boutique hotel— blends well into the Lessingsrasse—easy to get there by. public trabsport( streetcar). The center/ the university/ the Moritzburg/ the castle Giebichstein within walking distance. The old facade well restored. First glance— and you like this hotel: customer friendly personnel/ a nice courtyard/ comfortable rooms( tgecstabdard rooms: o.k.— I would recommend to reserve a “ Komfort- DZ with king size bed). The breakfast excellent— a good variety. In summer you can enjoy the breakfast on the terrace in the courtyard.A sauna— relaxing after a day of work.
