Best Hotels in Hallstatt, Austria

Pleasant stay in Heritage Hotel. Perfect location. The room is big and spacious. The bed is big and comfortable. Breakfast is really good as well. The staff at the reception is really nice and welcoming. Room assigned is on 4th floor, which we could hear footsteps from the room above us at 6 am in the morning. Request for a room on the top floor, 6th floor, if you're a light sleeper like us. The restaurant is really good. We went there for dinner twice during our 3 nights stay in Heritage Hotel. The soup was really good. We ordered the char grilled salmon with pumpkin risotto, really delicious 😋

I wish we could have stayed longer! I will absolutely be back. This darling mountain getaway is like nowhere I've ever been. From the moment I walked in I felt full of peaceful energy. Incredible detail has been put into the service and ambiance of luxury. The tranquil hideaway vibe is definitely on-point! We were on a cycling trip and arrived on bicycles. This hotel was the perfect treat to have a quick unwind during our adventure. We stayed in the mountain view rooms... WOW. I'll include pics of our panoramic mountain views! When I come back I'll stay longer to read books amongst the calm, find inspiration for writing, meditate, breathe in the luxury, hike the trails. So many attributes make this a luxury boutique hideaway. I need some self care and want to feel that peaceful energy again. The food was outstanding. They are vegan-friendly... We are not vegan and the staff prepared the most delicious beef goulash. Breakfast was above and beyond what we imagined... They cooked eggs for us made-to-order, brought us plates of fresh vegetables, sliced fruit, croissants, breads, gourmet butter, cappuccinos... I could go on and on. A very nice hotel with nice staff. At the reception the check-in etc takes somewhat nice long. At the ski lift you are fast, just a bus stop away. Unfortunately, more mass handling at the buffet. Dinner was ”naja”. Suppet and salad delicious, dei main meals rather cantines - that has, unfortunately, buffet so in itself. Breakfast is beautifully rich and varied. For the size of the hotel the wellness area is rather small. 2 saunas, that's OK, but unfortunately quite little beds and not separated from the showers. So so well you can relax rather on the room. We had a faulty fire alarm at night and stood in the sleeping suit at half two in the frozen night Temperatures outside. Unfortunately, there was no meeting of the hotel at request. At least the € 20 drinks they could have left us out of course. Of course, probably the hotel can't do anything for it, but we also haven't and that has already made us We don't come again. ------ In itself a nice, modern hotel with friendly staff. When I was considering to book a room in this hotel, I was in doubt about it because of some negative reviews that I read. Nevertheless, I decided to book even so, and my experience there was GREAT. I, respectfully, think that many negative comments here are unfair, as I’m going to explain while I give my perceptions about the hotel. Overview: Obertraun is a small city (approx. 800 people). The hotel is in front of the lake with a wonderful view. It provides a very helpful free bus pass to the region (Hallstatt etc). The owner is very helpful and kind. It’s a family business run with much care and respect for the guest. Check in: excellent. The time for check in is between 15:00-19:00. The management of the hotel emailed me telling me this and asking me to tell in advance if I would arrive after 19:00 because they would put the keys in a place where I could pick it. I arrived early, and I saw in the entrance of the hotel a key locker where the late guests can just put a code and pick the key. Moreover, when I booked the room in Expedia, there was also a warning about the time to check in. Therefore, it’s just a matter of the guest pay attention and contact in advance. Mr. Meinrad was very kind and attentive in the check in. Staff: I really don’t understand those who complained. The owner of the hotel is extremely kind and helpful. He was always very patient to help to advise the best places to go in the area. His wife was also very kind. It’s very clear how much they care for the hotel and do their best to receive well the guests. I think that guests also need to analyses themselves before complaining about small things and make a storm in a teacup. Location: the hotel is located in Obertraun which is a neighbor city of Hallstatt. It’s very easy to go to Hallstatt from there, and the hotel provides you free public transport in the region (bus). It is also located in front of the lake and the view is gorgeous! Bear in mind that Obertraun has approximately 800 inhabitants, so don’t go expecting to have a coffee in Starbucks etc. Even though, once again, Mr. Meinrad, very kindly, offered to prepare a coffee in the evening while he was there. There is a restaurant (I think the whole city only has two or three) near the hotel. Breakfast: with all do respect, I think some guests when travel become “breakfast Master chefs”. I always say, is the breakfast better or worst compared to the one that you have in your house? The breakfast was good! Juice, coffee, cappuccino, bread, cheese, ham, yogurt etc. If you want to have a five stars Michelin breakfast you need to be willing to pay for that. In this sense, I didn’t have any problem with the breakfast and the restaurant also has a great view of the lake and the mountains. Room: I stayed in a room with a view to the lake. Although the price is relatively high in the ski season, the swimming pool is not open, and the restaurant is not open. The whole hotel only serves three kinds of supermarket bread. There is nothing in the middle of the mountain with no shops in front of the village. By the way, there is no one after staying for three days. Cleaning, not even a toothbrush and slippers, a pair of thin paper-like slippers cost 3 euros, the shuttle bus to the town only runs every hour, and there are residents quarreling in the middle of the night, throwing all the chairs on the balcony into the garden Here..., will not go again, disappointed!

It’s still cold in mid-April, so the foggy fairy in the early morning is really very quiet. People who like quiet will definitely feel more suitable than Hallstatt. The room with a balcony (3rd floor) is indeed much better than the view without a balcony, even if it is a lake view room (2nd floor) The color of the room furniture is good. It is very warm to cook a hot noodles with a kitchenette. The breakfast quality is also very good.

We spent two days in an urgent Hideaway hotel in Hallstatt with a dream view to Hallstatter Lake. One of the most beautiful stays we ever had to spend in the mountains. A true place of desire. Already at the arrival we were overwhelmed by Hallstätt with its breathtaking environment. One time, the Hallstätter Lake, embedded between roughly forested mountains, in sad green. The accommodation, directly at the foot of the Salzberg, directly at the sea promenade, but above the tourist power, a perfect mix of rustic charm and lovely Austrian romance. Uncomplicated and urgently furnished, with traditional wooden furniture, clean and small balcony with view of the painting landscape. A place for well-being and enjoy the mountain world. Exciting was experienced in the salt mining. For those whose rail is too bizarre, a walking track leads up. Great mediation of the millennium salt culture in this place. A power station the Evangelical Church in the place. The restaurant in the host houses of Hallstatt was typical of Austria. We enjoyed the stay uncommonly and we were happy to come back.

Me and my brother stayed at the end of June for 2 nights half board. The hotel itself smelt really clean and very fresh. The rooms were clean but much smaller than expected. We asked for two single beds but we received a double room. The food was pretty tasteless and not a very big variety. I did end up going hungry. There is a nice pathway from the garden into Bad Aussee. It is a very steep climb back up though. Our first night staying here at Midnight a coach load of kids turned up having a party in the car park. They were not staying at the hotel but kept us up till 2am. This was a very disturbed night. The staff were not very friendly. It did seem to be an inconvenience to be working for them. The sauna we didn’t bother using as you would have to wait 30 minutes for it to warm up. You still have to pay in your total which was not aware to us until paying in person even if you don’t wish to use it. If you are staying on one of the top floors it can be very difficult taking all your luggage upstairs as there is no lift. The toilets in our bedrooms didn’t flush properly and there was constant trickling sound of water all night. If you would like to play table pool it is 2 Euros a game. There are 2 rooms to eat Breakfast/Dinner. All the guests were shut out of the 2nd room with the big windows with the nice views. We weren’t sure why. Minimal parking as they like to leave the car park for the coaches who come in and out. We probably wouldn’t choose this hotel if we were staying in the area again. Please don’t compare this review to JUFA hotel Grundlsee. I would travel 5 miles just to stay in the hotel if visiting Bad Aussee.

Only 6-7mins walk from the train station. Surrounded by the restaurants and cafes. Toilet and bedroom are clean. Only things to complain is the water pressure and no personal locker in room.

Very beautiful town! The kitchen is very well equipped! The lady at the front desk speaks very good English too! Communication is barrier-free! This is a very worthwhile hotel to stay again! Perfect for 4-6 friends!
