Shangri-La Hambantota ★★★★★
"Best place to stay in Sri Lanka!!! The hotel is amazing and the staff are friendly and very helpful. We will be coming back here next time we visit Sri Lanka."
Peacock Beach Resort and Spa ★★★★
"I stayed with My group on 17.08.2024. It is a super nice hotel! Great hotel. Everything was nice. It was clean and stylish, the room had excellent service, and we had dinner there. The food was good and great ... My colleagues and I will surely choose it again the next time, Great location,"
Cinnamon Wild Yala ★★★★★
"A very nice villa, it's a shame we arrived too late to fully appreciate the surrounding scenery. There were many European and American tourists, and the restaurant mainly offered local and Indian cuisine."
DoubleTree by Hilton Weerawila Rajawarna Resort ★★★★★
"Out of all the places we stayed during our Sri Lanka trip, this hotel’s environment truly blew me away. ✨ **[Impeccable Eco-Environment: Living in a Natural Grand Park]** The hotel's core highlight is its unparalleled natural setting. The entire property feels like a meticulously maintained natural park, where the landscaping seamlessly blends with the surrounding lake. The scenery, with the water and sky mirroring each other, is incredibly therapeutic. Walking around the grounds, you’ll see egrets gracefully strolling on the lawns or flying low overhead, and various small animals everywhere. Even lizards, which are “standard Southeast Asian fare,” add to the ecological feel – it truly feels like living in a wildlife park. The hotel's outdoor pool is large and expansive, offering direct lake views, perfect for photos and relaxation. There’s also a dedicated boardwalk by the lake, ideal for cycling or a stroll in the evening, enjoying the lake breeze and watching the sunset – it's so comfortable you won’t want to leave. 🏊♂️ **[Facilities and Rooms: Basic but Solid, Bathroom a Huge Plus]** The room generally boasts Hilton's standard configuration – clean and spacious. The bathroom, in particular, is very large, making it comfortable to use. Given that it's an eco-park in Sri Lanka, occasionally you might find small mosquitoes near the toilet, which is normal for Southeast Asian hotels and perfectly acceptable. The hotel has two restaurants, offering both à la carte and buffet options. The food quality is decent, and they support Alipay and WeChat Pay, which is much more cost-effective than using local currency directly. 🍽️ **[Dining Experience: Lacking Highlights, Buffet Rather Ordinary]** Due to an upset stomach, we didn’t try the buffet and ordered à la carte, which tasted pretty good. The breakfast buffet looked like it had many options and was quite crowded, but in reality, there weren't many choices that suited our taste. Also, because there are many Indian guests staying, both breakfast and dinner had dedicated Indian food sections. For tourists not used to strong flavors, this further limited the options. Compared to a five-star hotel's positioning, the breakfast as a whole was only average, which is a common issue with most hotels in Sri Lanka. 📍 **[Location and Travel: An Excellent Base for Safari]** The hotel is not far from Yala National Park's Safari area, making it very convenient whether you’re driving yourself or using a private car. We personally found that there’s no need to rush for an early morning safari; an afternoon departure offered a much better experience. We saw a leopard as soon as we entered the park and also spotted most of the iconic animals mentioned in guidebooks. There's no need to get up early and rush, and you can return to the hotel to relax right after – the pace was incredibly comfortable. Always prioritize using Alipay/WeChat for payments, as the exchange rate is much better than using local currency directly. Overall, this hotel is absolutely worth staying at, thanks to its stunning ecological environment and excellent location! If you're coming for the safari and natural scenery, this place will definitely be a highlight of your trip. The only minor regret is that the dining didn't quite match the overall quality."
Jade Green Hambantota ★★★
"The hotel is situated in a beautiful place adjacent to a saltern. Staff was friendly. Rooms are spacious enough, provided with basic requirements like tea, coffee making facilities, WiFi ,iron, etc. Meals are tasty ,worth the money spent."
Ravana Garden ★★★★
"We stayed at Ravana Garden last month and it was an absolute memorable stay. Candle lit dinners by the sea with a well decorated private dinner table - was the highlight for us. Thank you for hosting us, the manager, Mr Nalin and the other staff at the hotel! We were felt so welcome and at home at Ravana Garden. Highly recommended ❤️"
Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort ★★★★★
"I would advise anyone planning to book this hotel to think carefully. Although it is advertised as a five-star hotel, the customer service and the way our reservation was handled were extremely disappointing. We originally booked two double rooms for 27, 28 and 29 June. We paid the full amount of LKR 360,000 through Boundless Travel Company for a two-night stay on a full-board basis. Unfortunately, my mother accidentally injured her leg, so we were unable to stay on the original dates. As the full payment had already been made, we contacted the hotel, explained the situation and requested a change of dates. We were initially told that we could reschedule our stay within one month. We then requested 25, 26 and 27 July. The hotel first agreed to these dates but later changed its decision. We were told that a foreign wedding would be held at the hotel during those dates and that they could no longer accommodate us. The hotel then asked us to choose another date, so we proposed 15, 16 and 17 August. However, those dates were also rejected because the hotel claimed that it was the peak season. Later, the hotel asked us to provide a medical certificate for my mother’s injury. They then said that because we had not submitted the medical certificate within one week, they could not accommodate us. However, this one-week deadline was never clearly communicated to us when we first requested the postponement. If this was an important condition, it should have been clearly explained from the beginning—not introduced later after the hotel had already accepted our full payment and asked us to select alternative dates. For clarity, we have no complaint against Boundless Travel Company. The company was only involved in arranging the booking and processing our payment. We are confident that the problem lies with the hotel and the way it handled our request. We are mentioning this clearly because we do not want the hotel to avoid responsibility or attempt to place the blame on the travel company. Despite paying LKR 360,000 in full, we were neither given the accommodation we paid for nor offered a fair and consistent opportunity to reschedule. The hotel repeatedly changed its response, rejected the alternative dates we proposed and introduced new conditions that had not been clearly explained earlier. This is not the level of customer service or professionalism expected from a hotel advertised as a five-star establishment. We are simply asking the hotel either to honour our fully paid reservation on a mutually acceptable date without introducing further unreasonable conditions or to provide a full refund of LKR 360,000."
Jetwing Yala ★★★★★
"The location is very close to Yala, very convenient. The hotel has a good view"

EKHO Safari Tissa
"Facilities were decent, they were able to arrange a boat tour for us around Lake Tissa and we enjoyed the sunset and the flocks of migratory birds very much from the dock. They also packed our breakfast as we set out early to Yala, although they are unable to arrange tours to Yala National Park."
Hilton Yala Resort
"The room is luxurious, comfortable and clean, with a large space. The service staff is very enthusiastic. Breakfast and dinner are ordered, and each dish tastes very good. The lobby view is magnificent, but since you can't move freely outside after 6 pm, you don't even have the chance to go to the beach after staying overnight. There are battery cars to the room and lobby. After safari in the morning, I returned to the hotel at 10:15, had breakfast, went back to the room to pack up, and checked out on time. I asked to go to the beach, but they said it was closed at noon or that I didn't have enough time to go. I don't know if there is a gym, and some swimming pools are pretty beautiful, but I didn't have time to go. The internal road of the hotel is a dirt road, which may restore the original ecology"
Ziba Luxury Villa
"Minimalistic hotel rooms well located off Silent Beach in Tangalle. Nice communal pool and a small amount of rooms makes the villa quite tranquil and never busy. The staff are wonderful and the chef cooks delicious food which is all very reasonably priced. I just recommend you stay away from beef in this country as it’s quite inedible, this seems a common theme whether you’re buying a cheap burger or an expensive beef dish. The only detractions to the accomodation was a foul odour emanating from the shower in the mornings, but it did dissipate thereafter. Also I find there is little point of an in-room safe if it isn’t bolted to the ground. You can literally walk in and pick the safe up and exit the room making it redundant. Rooms are well appointed and well priced for the area given the two luxury alternatives are the Amanwella resort which is quite dated and much more expensive and the Anantara Peace Haven which is more expensive but also a fantastic product. The local beach here is beautiful. I would stay here again, but I expect rooms will be hard to come by as the country lacks 5 star resorts at this time. I would stay here again no doubt and recommend the property."
Hotel Tamarind Tree
"Ruchira provided excellent service. They treated us exceptionally well."
Villa Blu
"A Hidden Gem by a Peaceful Beach 🌊 I had an amazing stay here! The place is cosy, spotless, and located incredible beautiful, quiet beach — perfect for relaxing and unwinding. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. The food was excellent — fresh, delicious, and full of local flavor. Everything about this place exceeded my expectations. If you’re looking for a clean, peaceful, and friendly spot by the sea, this is the perfect choice!"
Kayaam Wellness
"I recently stayed at Kayaam House Tangalla and was impressed by the overall experience. The rooms were well-maintained and comfortable, and the food was excellent, showcasing a delightful range of flavors. However, my experience was marred by one staff member, Isiwara. Unfortunately, his attitude and service were very poor, and he was unfriendly throughout our stay. His behavior felt suspicious and unprofessional, which is disappointing given the high standards set by the rest of the team. I would have gladly given a 5-star rating if not for this negative interaction. I hope the management addresses this issue because such behavior can tarnish the reputation of an otherwise great hotel."
Uga Prāva - Tangalle
"This was one of the best stays of our 2 month trip and probably the most stunning spot around tangalle. The property is absolutely beautiful and spacious and is somewhat central and close to tangalle and the hirkitya. I dont mean to sound stereotypical honostly everything was superb. The butlers Ru, Praveen Lucky, Shehan and Shamil ,yes there is alot and all of them made sure we were attended to in every way. and the house keepers Pasindu and Dimiuthu made sure our rooms where spotless and organised every day. The food aswell was just delicious breakfast lunch and dinner, definitely put on some "holiday calories". The stay was a dream!"
Malala Retreat
"We had a peaceful and serene stay at Malala. The hotel is perfect for those who would like to get away from the hustle and bustle and be with nature. Rooms are clean and have everything you need. What we enjoyed the most was the food. Chef Sri is very accommodating and the food is really good. We enjoyed a good string hopper breakfast one morning and a pol roti breakfast the next morning. The hotel staff is always obliging and overall had a lovely experience."
O2 Villas Yala
"We spent three nights here, and it was an absolute dream. Every single member of the staff was exceptionally warm, welcoming, and helpful. They contributed enormously to our positive experience. We were looked after with great care, and every wish was fulfilled with genuine attentiveness and kindness. The food was spectacular—truly at an outstanding level. We have not eaten better anywhere else. Chef Danushka is a true master of his craft, and every dish reflected his talent and passion. The hotel also provided us with an excellent guide who was extremely knowledgeable about the area and showed us so many beautiful places. The evening beach tour is highly recommended—it was by far the most beautiful beach I have seen in Sri Lanka. Nestled in the middle of the jungle, the hotel offers the unique opportunity to observe wildlife directly from your room. One morning, the hotel organized a safari for us in Yala National Park, which was absolutely breathtaking. We saw an incredible number of animals, and the driver did a fantastic job, ensuring we had the best possible experience and could see as much as possible. Since we did not want to take our eight-month-old daughter on the safari, Dinithi from the Operations Team lovingly took care of her. We were so grateful. She did a wonderful job—our daughter adored her and always lit up with a big smile whenever she saw her. This stay was truly unforgettable, and we cannot recommend this place highly enough."
Flameback Eco Lodge
"We stayed with as a family of 4 with 2 children aged 12&8. This was a perfect quiet retreat to relax for a couple of days. We didn't head to Yala NP as many guests do and did the local basket weaving activity and bird tour, which were both great. The highlight is the accommodation, with peaceful balconies onto the lake and stunning rooms. We really enjoyed our sunset drinks on our tent balcony. The food was plentiful, good and the staff really friendly."
Ananthaya Beach
"It's a paradise in short.located on top of a small hill gives u breathtaking views followed by a lovely and caring staff who always greet u with smile."
Lankavatara Ocean Retreat & Spa
"Lankavatara is situated about 30 minutes from Tangalle, in Kalametiya. The resort is beautiful and the rooms were clean and spacious. Staff was friendly and helpful. The meals were delicious too. It really is the best looking hotel in the area! There is beach access from the hotel but it was advised not to swim by the staff, which was slightly disappointing. But overall a good place to relax."
Ananya Beach Resort
" Though the property might be a bit away from the heart of Tangalle - and other popular beach resorts - that is the charm of this place. The seclusion brings a lovely charm and romantic vibe, and much more affordable than the overpriced posh digs like the KAYAM house that are located next to it. Though the beach might look and feel a bit less spectacular (and not so clean) compared to the other beaches in the region, it is still stunning and you have it all for yourself most of the time! LOCATION: The cottage-style property is located in Rekawa Bay which is just 20 minutes drive from Tangalle. DINE + DRINK: The restaurant on site(that also serves as a Breakfast spot) whips up some super authentic and delicious dishes. And thanks to the staff we had a private table set up for our group right on the beach and on the sand! ROOM: We stayed in a Room with a Balcony on the 2nd floor, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; VIEW: Spectacular views of the lovely beach from the gorgeous balcony; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Good spa-quality toiletries FACILITIES: No Gym on site, but the swimming pool is beautiful and a great place to lounge with a drink! SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout-out to the restaurant and front office staff for attending to all our needs with a smile HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, and the speed is good! Small Plasma TV dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in multiple languages "
Shine Park
"From the moment I arrived at Shine Park Guest House, everything exceeded my expectations. The guest house exudes charm and comfort with its cozy, well-appointed rooms and friendly, attentive staff. The highlight of my stay was definitely the breakfast—a delightful spread of fresh fruits, local delicacies, pastries, and a perfect cup of coffee that truly set the tone for a fantastic day."
Buckingham Place
"After travelling around the beautiful Island of Sri Lanka we had decided to have a relaxing last 5 days to finish our holiday to include Valentines Day. Buckingham Place turned out to be the perfect choice. The owner Nick is a wonderful host who has created an incredible hotel to relax in surrounded by fantastic staff and beautiful views ( beach from the pool) and forest and lagoon from your room. We had room 14 and enjoyed eagles , monkeys , mongoose , monitor lizards and peacocks to name but a few of the local wildlife. Would recommend to anyone considering a trip to Sri Lanka …. You will love it here."
