Hotel Lumen am Hauptbahnhof

The train station is a quick 5-minute walk away. The hotel is a bit old-fashioned but perfectly fine for an overnight stay, especially considering the incredibly cheap price. I would stay here again. The service was very friendly. However, it's worth noting that there are many homeless people and others around. Rooms facing the back are okay; I had a quiet night.

The front desk operates 24/7. A huge drawback is the lack of air conditioning in the rooms. We were in Hamburg on June 20th. It was 32°C and incredibly stuffy in the room.

After being given a room on the top floor facing the back, which had an irritating smell, I was moved to another room downstairs. However, I only stayed one night. The best part was the beds; everything else felt run down.

Although the area wasn't the safest, I didn't feel uneasy at all, and the hotel breakfast was delicious.

The water pressure in the bathroom was very low, and there was a persistent, slight odor. Also, the view from the window was quite obstructed as the hotel is surrounded by other buildings. On top of that, I woke up with an itchy body after sleeping on the bed. However, the staff were friendly.
