Scandic Aulanko

We stayed at Scandic Aulanko during the Wanaja Festival and had high expectations for our visit, especially given that we had booked a Superior room with a sauna (room 401). Unfortunately, the experience was below expectations in several key areas. Firstly, the shower in our room only provided cold or barely warm water. Hotel maintenance did come to inspect the issue and acknowledged the problem, stating they would try to get a plumber. However, the issue was never resolved, and we were not updated at any point. At check-out, the matter was simply apologized for, but no gesture of goodwill or compensation was offered – which felt dismissive considering the inconvenience. The room itself was dated and lacked air conditioning, which was surprising for a Superior category room. Luckily, the weather was not too hot during our stay, but this could have been a major issue during warmer days. Secondly, the breakfast experience was unpleasant due to small birds (sparrows) flying freely inside the restaurant, landing on tables, eating food from the buffet, and even defecating on furniture. Several guests pointed this out to the staff, but they seemed unaware of the hygiene concerns this posed. This is clearly not a one-time issue, as the birds appeared to be very familiar with the space. We appreciate that the hotel is in a scenic location and has potential, but our experience suggests that both maintenance and hygiene standards require serious attention. With proper follow-up and proactive service recovery, the stay could have been salvaged – but as it stands, we left disappointed.

Location is very good. Spa was nice and clean. Breakfast was average Finnish hotel breakfast. Friendly staff… still this was the worst hotel we have been in Finland. Room was not as clean as it should be, beds were old and stained and there should not be mold in the superior room (bathroom walls). No air conditioner. Balcony was dirty. Next time I will choose some other hotel and drive to Aulanko & have a day trip to spa.

This hotel is located in a beautiful area with a lot of outdoor activities. We also liked the spa, which is relatively small, but pleasent. Pool water was warm, which was nice. Hotel itself was clean, but a bit old already. Rooms were good size and bed comfortable. We had dinner at Little Italy restaurant, which was good, although not that special. Breakfast ok. All in all, a good experience. 3-4 stars for the hotel and 5 stars for the location.

Room was very nice and the hotel+spa were very good. Also the breakfast was very good. The bed in our room could be much never and better but it was ok.

Avoid the restaurant, the food quality is not good, we assume my friend got food poisoning from the breakfast.. also the rooms need to be renovated and the blankets under the bedsheets has massive stains on them. In a spa hotelci would like to have slippers in the room, so you don’t have to walk with your winterboots..

Nice way to celebrate new year with little childrens. Spa was good and hotel quiet. Service at restaurant was friendly and they notice childrens nicely.
