The hotel is old-fashioned, but if you want to stay only one night is alright. Everything, what I needed was close enough. The staff was helpful and friendly.

Interesting hotel in the historical building with the huge ceiling! Spacious room, very friendly and helpful staff. About 10 min walking from central station

Huge rooms, the biggest I've had in New Zealand, however the room was sparsely furnished so they could have made better use of the space which was effectively wasted. For instance there were no chairs to sit in. A pair of chairs with a side table would really make a difference. Its a historic hotel but very much 'faded grandeur', however I knew when I booked that the hotel wasn't the most modern and that was ok as I wanted that historic feel. It's not everyday that you stay inthe same hotel that Queen Elizabeth did (in 1953). The bed was comfortable, the shower hot (a huge bathroom too) and the staff were helpful. Great location right in the city centre too.

Overall good value for the price. Should be aware that confirmation email and hotel policy on app says check out is 11 but was provided with information when arriving in the hotel that checkout is 10am.

Very rundown, old musty smell throughout, lift was dodgy, only upside was location. Lots of noise coming from the street. Will not be back.

Very accommodating staff. Would of been very glam in its day. Still clean large rooms, right in the middle of town.

Certainly as good as fine. Noisy on the Friday evening. Strange that there is a kebab shop within the hotel.

Old and aged. Threadbare carpets, terrible parking and average staff attitude. Not value for money. Lucky my partner didnt come!

Nice hotel big rooms good staff in mean downtown have city view and convenient

The rooms are dark, damp and in need of urgent repairs, they look nothing like the pictures they advertised, well overpriced for what your getting, I've slept in Better backpacker's for a quarter of the price.

The place is in the town centre, very near to a Chinese restaurant, that really made our day. The hotel room was really lovely, and we really like the hotel. The only bad thing was that the fridge is really smelly.

I have never stayed in such a bad hotel. The window is in the ventilation shaft. There is a restaurant downstairs. The exhaust fan is very noisy and it doesn't stop until 11pm. In order to cover the smell, a lot of low-quality perfume is poured. The room is old and the elevator is shaking. Parking is $20 a night. It's free. I won't stay next time.
