A little tired, room smelled of damp but a dehumidifier in the room helped. No bar in the hotel !! But lots around the lakeside beautiful location food good.

Overall very nice but quite old. The service could be better, there is no laundry service or room service. The breakfast buffet is great thought. Value for money was ok but not good. Other Shangri-la hotels in China are better value for money.

Service: The staff are truly world-class – warm, welcoming, and professional. Location: Super convenient. I will definitely book here again on my next trip to Hangzhou. Facilities: The artwork and furniture feel very high-quality and tastefully chosen. The breakfast spread was incredibly generous, a European-style buffet served with a fantastic view. I highly recommend booking a room that includes breakfast; both the scenery and the food were superb!

The hotel, originally known as the Hangzhou Hotel, is a historic building. The room's decor and furnishings have a somewhat dated, nostalgic feel to them. There were very few bedside power outlets, and the one I found this time was broken. Fortunately, the outlet near the desk still worked, so I managed to make do. However, the service was excellent. They provided complimentary fruit, and on the second day, they gave me extra bottles of water. Two bottles really aren't enough in such hot weather, so the extra was much appreciated. The hotel's location is fantastic, right next to Yue Fei Temple and very close to Su Causeway. It's more convenient to take a taxi or drive your own car for getting around, as it's a bit of a distance from the subway station. Honestly, there aren't many good food options in the immediate vicinity; you'll find more choices about 2 kilometers away. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay. It's just that Hangzhou in September is incredibly hot, haha!

During my recent business trip to Hangzhou, I stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel Hangzhou. Its location is fantastic, incredibly close to West Lake – you just step out and cross the street, and you're right there. As it was my first time visiting West Lake, I was really keen to get some beautiful photos, but I was traveling solo. To my absolute surprise, the hotel actually offered a complimentary travel photoshoot! Honestly, I thought the photo locations (apart from West Lake itself) looked pretty ordinary at first. But with the photographer's expert guidance, the pictures turned out absolutely incredible! Every single shot was a masterpiece, truly amazing!

Our post-summer holiday getaway was incredibly relaxing – finally, no more bustling crowds! We strategically planned our trip to West Lake during the kids' off-peak break. We stayed at the Shangri-La by West Lake in Hangzhou, and from the moment we checked in, we felt completely at home. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and wonderfully spacious. Sipping tea and enjoying the stunning views from the room was pure bliss. Listening to the gentle patter of rain, we instantly felt transported to the serene Jiangnan region. It was the perfect escape from city life, ideal for unwinding and letting go. The travel photography service we booked was excellent, and the team was incredibly enthusiastic. The makeup artist was so skilled and efficient, completing my hair and makeup in no time – a truly beautiful transformation! The photographer was also fantastic at guiding the shoot, and his humor immediately put my initially awkward self at ease. He was quite the character [giggle], creating a wonderfully comfortable and engaging atmosphere with absolutely no awkward silences. And, of course, I absolutely adore the photos – the hit rate for stunning shots was phenomenal! 👍

This summer, during my trip back to China, I stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel. The location is fantastic, overlooking Gushan Mountain. It's incredibly convenient to get to attractions such as the Broken Bridge, Lingyin Temple, and Yue Fei Temple. Check-in was swift and efficient; I was settled in quickly. I took some time to relax in the room first, then headed out for a leisurely walk once the weather cooled down. A definite highlight was the hotel's travel photography service. The coordinator met us in the lobby and took us to the studio to select outfits and get our makeup done. The styling process was very efficient, handled by professional makeup artists. Once styled, we headed out for the shoot, which took us around the hotel grounds. The photographer was incredibly skilled; they captured very natural expressions and poses, creating a beautiful atmosphere. I highly recommend their travel photography service!

Location is perfect for those keen on watching the nightly Westlake Impression show - literally a stone's throw. Otherwise the view of Westlake (from our balcony) is obscured by trees.

Just stayed for 1 night so did not get to use their facilities.  Good service, good breakfast with a wide range of varieties.  The food at the Chinese restaurant was also good at reasonable prices.   The room is a bit dated but well maintained.  Water pressure of shower is excellent.   Overall, good value!

Old style hotel. Superb location - walking distance to the Xi Hu Ying Xiang performance and is pretty much next to the West Lake. The drains takes some time for the water to go away, but water pressure and temperature is good enough. Staff were very friendly and gave great recommendations for food places. It came with a complimentary photoshoot which was very lovely. We get 3 photos for free and it costs 100yuan per photo thereafter. However, we felt a bit forced to buy more photos. So be prepared to spend $$$ if you take up the photoshoot.

Great location. Breakfast was excellent. Room was very clean but too cold in the room.
