Westlake Villa·Hangzhou&State Guest Reception Center

Traveling to Hangzhou with two elderly family members, I hesitated for a long time while booking due to the mixed reviews. Ultimately, trusting my intuition that a state guesthouse should be relatively reliable, I booked two rooms, and I'm so glad I did. We stayed in Building 5. I really loved the decor and ambiance—grand, serene, and full of character. The front desk staff were warm, and every staff member we encountered was polite, making us feel right at home. The breakfast was also lavish, served in a very peaceful dining atmosphere. Our group also visited the May Fourth Constitution Draft Archives Exhibition Hall within the estate, which left us with unforgettable memories.

We booked this hotel by the West Lake for an off-peak getaway. Built against the backdrop of Baoshi Mountain, the hotel sits right opposite the West Lake. While it is wonderfully tranquil inside, you step right out into the bustling city streets—a true oasis of calm in the heart of the city. We stayed in a building that was reportedly newly renovated, and the overall aesthetic design is exceptional. I especially loved the blue window frames in the lobby. The room itself was spacious and elegant, with very user-friendly amenities. There were tea scent burners in both the room and the hallway, so you could catch a fresh fragrance of tea the moment you stepped out of the elevator. The only minor drawback was that our room was right next to the elevator, and the adjacent room was being used as a bridal chamber for a wedding, making it a bit noisy. The most impressive part of our stay, however, was the wonderful female reception staff at Building 5, Building 2, and the easternmost Building 6. They were all extremely patient in answering my questions and guiding me through everything. Five-star recommendation!

Over the past few years, West Lake State Guesthouse has become our absolute favorite—we actually make the trip just to spend a few relaxing days here. This place truly gives you a feeling of home. What makes a hotel unforgettable and keeps you coming back? Sincere hospitality, down-to-earth service, and exceptional dining—these are all reasons that draw guests back time and time again. Highly recommended!

Facilities: One major drawback was that the room's air conditioning was set to heat, and I woke up feeling hot past midnight. The next morning, I had a sore throat and caught a cold. Also, water would leak out from under the shower door even when it was closed. Service: When checking out, I needed a shuttle to take my belongings from Building 2 to Building 5. Over the phone, I was told it was just a short walk. When I insisted that it was inconvenient with luggage, I was then told the shuttle wouldn't wait and I needed to come down immediately. The service definitely needs improvement. Overall, the hotel environment is quite good, and the buffet was also nice. However, I heard that they get very busy hosting wedding banquets, so the replenishment speed for dinner items can be a bit slow.

The location is excellent, within walking distance to attractions like Yue Fei Temple and Broken Bridge. The estate itself is beautiful and offers a peaceful retreat despite being in a bustling area. The newly renovated Building No. 5 boasts top-notch hardware and service.

The breakfast quality was good, and the small wontons were delicious. We stayed for two nights and had the buffet dinner on one of them. While the variety wasn't extensive, the quality of the food was all very good. For 190, it was an excellent value.

I stayed in Building No. 6 last time and Building No. 3 this time. Both of my short stays at this hotel have been wonderfully comfortable and reassuring. The gardens and greenery inside the hotel are lush and well-maintained, and the fruit trees are heavy with fruit, which is an absolute delight to see. Check-in was incredibly smooth. There was staff welcoming us the entire way, guiding our car down to the underground parking garage. Before we even finished parking, a staff member was already waiting in the garage, ready to help with our luggage and escort us to the room. How many hotels can deliver such meticulous and professional service? The room decor is rather conventional, giving off a strong traditional aesthetic. As I grow older, I find myself increasingly fond of this style of hotel; it would be absolute perfection if the room were just a bit larger. Swiping the room card grants access to dine at the 1913 Restaurant in the adjacent Xinxin Hotel. The dinner dishes, flavors, and overall quality were all spot-on. Sitting by the window allows you to enjoy a meal while taking in the stunning views of West Lake. During my first visit, I was deeply impressed by the staff's service, and this time, the dining, accommodation, and service all left me thoroughly satisfied. I would gladly choose West Lake State Guest House again on my next trip to Hangzhou.

Booked this for my parents. The hotel's location is absolutely top-notch! Stepping out, you're right at Gushan Mountain and Xiling Bridge – perfect for catching the sunrise. The hotel environment is excellent, with shuttle buses connecting the various buildings. Plus, Xinxin Hotel is right next door, making dining incredibly convenient.

Building 5 is very new and well-equipped. It was good value for money, even during the holiday season. Although there was a minor issue (noise and a broken showerhead), the staff immediately contacted maintenance to fix it, and the noise was also investigated and resolved. Their attitude was truly excellent, making it hard to be upset. Special thanks to staff members like Liu Min for their warm service. The dining environment at Xinxin Hotel's restaurant is also superb and worth visiting for a full meal on its own.
