Lakeview Hotel Hangzhou Reviews

I originally wanted to give this hotel a high rating, but I have to deduct points because of the breakfast chef's poor attitude and excuses. A foreign guest used the tongs meant for cooked food (like steamed buns and shaomai) to pick raw vegetables for noodle cooking, and then placed the tongs back into the cooked food tray. This was a clear case of cross-contamination between raw and cooked food. I asked the noodle chef to correct this right away, but a tall chef came out from the back. Instead of apologizing, he made up a lame excuse, claiming that a guest had walked off with the raw food tongs and tray, so they only had one pair of tongs available. Who was he trying to fool? Did he really think that was convincing? Clearly, they only put out one pair to begin with. Cross-contaminating raw and cooked food is a serious food safety issue, yet he showed no remorse or apology whatsoever. On the other hand, the housekeeping staff was wonderful and proactively told us that we could watch the West Lake sunset from the 8th floor, which is a real highlight of the hotel. A couple of suggestions for improvement: it would be great if the hotel could also open that area in the morning for the sunrise, and it would be much more convenient for guests arriving from the back if the west side door could be kept open.

Wanghu Hotel boasts an excellent location, right by West Lake, making transportation and shopping incredibly convenient. The hotel facilities are grand, comprehensive, and high-end. The lobby and floor staff are dedicated and responsible, all of them very enthusiastic. The room cleaning is meticulous, and the hotel breakfast, in particular, is exceptionally varied. It was a thoroughly satisfying experience.

The service was excellent! The staff even gave us complimentary fruit and two extra breakfast coupons. The room was also quite good. You can easily walk to Wulin Night Market by turning right outside, and to i77 by turning left. West Lake is also not far from the entrance. It's a hotel with good value for money! 😁👍

Facilities: Excellent and well-equipped. Hygiene: Clean, tidy bedding. The cleaning staff did a great job. Environment: It's an older hotel, but the location is fantastic. West Lake is right outside, and Wulin Night Market and Kerry Centre are nearby.

The location is fantastic, and being on the 8th floor, you get a view of West Lake. The room is quite soundproof, unless there's a lot of noise right outside the door. The air conditioning seemed a bit off though; I set it to 30 degrees Celsius, but the air blowing out was still very cold, and the vent was directly facing the bed. The shower water temperature was good, and hot water came on quickly. The 8th-floor restaurant food was decent, but they charge a 10% service fee. The gym is in the basement, and it had a musty smell that made me not want to go in. Overall, it's a hotel with great value for money.

Good location. Easy check in and check out. The bath tib was very nice and deep! The view from the room was also very nice.

Double room, very quiet. The day before, I stayed at Yintai 77, which was very noisy. Changing to this place, it immediately became quiet. Getting around is also very convenient. The cruise terminal and Fengbo Pavilion are right opposite, and Broken Bridge is not far. There's a night market nearby. There are many bus stops next to it, so no matter where you walk along the lake, if you don't want to walk anymore, you can always take a bus back.

The room was great with excellent facilities. Its proximity to West Lake made getting around very convenient. The breakfast had a wide variety of fresh and delicious options. The view from the 8th floor was fantastic, offering a full panorama of West Lake.

Had a weekend getaway in Hangzhou with friends. We originally booked a lake view room, but the front desk helped us switch to a family room, which was spacious and bright. The hotel service was excellent, and the floor staff were very welcoming. When the luggage storage staff found out we were taking the subway, they even took the time to patiently explain the route. A truly wonderful stay!

The hotel boasts an excellent location, just a few minutes' walk to Beishan Road along West Lake. A 10-minute stroll northeast brings you to Kerry Centre, offering convenient dining and shopping. The hotel's 8th-floor restaurant and outdoor terrace provide stunning panoramic views of West Lake. While the room facilities are a bit dated and there was a slight odor, and the duvets in the twin room were a bit narrow, the room service staff were very enthusiastic and attentive.

The room was clean and just a five-minute walk from West Lake. The breakfast was plentiful; I highly recommend the beef vermicelli soup, it was exceptionally delicious. The view of West Lake from the rooftop was absolutely amazing. Plus, booking through Ctrip got us two free West Lake boat tickets, which alone were worth 100 RMB!

❌ Strongly not recommended! The room type was completely different from what was advertised, leading to misleading consumption. I booked two rooms: one standard twin room for over 500, and a so-called 'spliced king room' for 888. Upon arrival, I found that the 888 room was not a single, integrated king-size bed. It was just two single beds from a standard room pushed together, with the nightstand moved elsewhere. The room's hardware and layout were identical to a regular twin room. The booking page did not mention the crucial information about it being a spliced bed. Moving just two beds resulted in an extra 300+ in price. There was a gap between the two mattresses, which was very uncomfortable if you lay on it while sleeping. It definitely didn't provide the experience of a king-size bed. I paid a high price, expecting an exclusive king room, but it was just a simple, manually put-together bed. I was very disappointed. I've attached comparison photos to help future bookers avoid this pitfall.

An established hotel, clean and professional, with a rich breakfast and a nice viewing deck. The service was prompt and attentive, and they even sent complimentary fruit. The location is excellent, with many restaurants just across the street, and West Lake is also just a short walk away.

Right by West Lake, you can see Leifeng Pagoda from the 8th floor at night. The breakfast is also good.
