The hotel is tucked away in an alley, so cars can't drive right up to it. Although there's an elevator, you still have to climb about 5-6 steps to get to the room. The best part is its super close proximity to the cathedral, just a 2-minute walk! In the evenings, the alley fills with people eating, maybe having BBQ? It's lively but not noisy at all.

First location is pretty good because it is a central and can go out anywhere you want. Second the room and services, especially the breakfast. Again personally I felt safe right there.

Room is spacious. Friendly staff and overall breakfast is not too bad.

The hotel contacted me on WhatsApp before our stay to offer tours to other cities since they’re also a travel agency. We didn’t reply, but when we arrived after a long flight, instead of checking us in right away, the staff still tried to sell us some tours. I didn’t really mind, but I was tired and wouldn’t book anything last minute anyway. The elevator is quite slow, and even with it, you still have to go down one flight of stairs to reach your room. As soon as we opened the door, there was a strong unpleasant smell. The staff said it was because they had just cleaned and suggested we leave the door open for several minutes — not ideal when all you want to do is rest. They provide complimentary water, coffee, and tea, and breakfast is included. However, the breakfast spread is the same every day, and the bread is already pre-toasted, so it’s cold by the time you get to the small dining area. If you come down late, there’s usually not much food left. Basic toiletries like towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and shampoo are provided. The bathroom has a bidet, but the shower’s water pressure is quite weak. Note that the hotel is **not accessible by car** — taxis will drop you off nearby, and you’ll have to walk a bit and find your way via Google Maps. The location is very central, just a one-minute walk to St. Joseph’s Cathedral and surrounded by many restaurants, cafés, and spas. It may look a bit sketchy at first, but this seems typical for the Old Quarter area. Soundproofing is poor — you can hear noise from the street and even from the next room. Some balusters on the staircase are coming loose, and there were red hairs in the shower area, which suggests it wasn’t thoroughly cleaned. The facilities overall feel quite old. If you’re particular about cleanliness and comfort, this hotel might not meet your expectations. But if you just need a cheap, central place to crash for a night or two, it’s manageable.

The room is clean, the transportation is convenient, and the front desk service is very thoughtful.

At Old Quarter Hanoi, everything you need have around you

It is just as described. You are at door stop of all the action. Staff is brilliant. Can be tricky to find the place. A cab can’t get to the front but it’s barely 10meters from drop off. For the price it is excellent value.

Perfect location. Very helpful and friendly staff and great value for the price. Also the manager helped with booking the Halong Bay tour which was a really luxurious experience.

Nice small and quiet place. Nice rooms. Incredible rain shower. Kim was very helpful in booking trips for me.

The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the location is great for exploring the area. Everything was clean and well maintained, which made the stay comfortable. Overall, a nice place that we would recommend.

Beds were comfy and the female lady of staff speaks English very well and is extremely helpful.

Spacious rooms with comfortable beds provided. The staff were incredible with their support with all my tours to Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh. Even checked during my tours that everything was going well.
