Amira Hotel Hanoi

Hoan Kiem District Hanoi|0.09km from Old City Gate
I stayed at this hotel twice (on separate occasions) - The first time was good, hence we booked it again, but last night was a disaster. On both occasions we had a room with no window, which didn’t bother us the first time as we were only staying one night, no window meant it was quiet and the air con was cool so there was plenty of airflow. However the second time we stayed was a different story! The aircon has two settings, either heat or cool - At 11pm, we requested that they change it to cool (like last time) and were informed that the ‘policy has changed’. I argued to get this changed for over an hour, but was met with continued disagreement - the night manager was fearful of being fired, but I especially disliked the way he was half laughing at me. When I tell you the room was boiling, we had no airflow, it was so claustrophobic. We finally agreed on a fan and went to sleep around 1:30am. We then got a call at 8am to say that there would be a fire drill (why was this not done at midday?) - the alarm then went off for 10 minutes consistently. At 9am we were delivered the worlds worst breakfast (their restaurant was under construction hence it was delivered to our airless room) - the toast was so hard I could knock someone out with it, and the eggs were cold/tasteless. But the final straw (and seriously I’m not kidding) was when we got a knock at 9:15am and given two gas masks… in the middle of a fire drill, in a windowless room - WITH NO EXPLANATION. This was terrifying. I went down, and requested a full refund - the manager obliged; and hilariously, my room was set to cool.

Hanoi Golden Hotel

Hoan Kiem District Hanoi|0.1km from Old City Gate
I think it is a good location for people who visit Hanoi. However, it is not easy to find when checking in because the location of the hotel is not along the street and is a place to reach through a narrow road between houses that are not on Google. I had a hard time finding my Vietnamese friends, so I may not know if I ask a taxi driver. You may know it as soon as you ask a nearby person. Well, everyone was kind, there were children, and I didn't dislike this place because I felt the life of the locals up close. The cleanliness is not as good as Japanese hotels and luxury hotels, but it was enough for people who are not innocent. I saw only a few small insects at the hotel, probably because I went there in February. You can apply for a tour for the service, you can get paid out in cash from the card (maybe you should stop if possible), there is Wi-Fi, the staff are smiling, At check-in, I got a paper with recommended Vietnamese restaurants and Vietnamese precautions (taxis and fake currencies that can be taken) and was conscientious overall. I made a mistake in the room I guided, so I was asked to change the room and moved, and when I extended my stay, I was told to move to my sister hotel on the morning of the day, so there is such a thing. Please be careful. Amenity was not troubled with toothbrush, shampoo and soap. The staff smiled and added it even though I didn't ask for it when I moved the room. Soap is not good for foaming.

May de Ville Legend Hotel & Spa

Hoan Kiem District Hanoi|0.12km from Old City Gate
I visited May De VIlle Legend Hotel & Spa in The Old Quarter, 23-25 Nguyen Sieu, Hanoi many, many times, for both breakfast buffet, treatments and sightseeing tours. I can reccomend this Hotel so much. The staff is proffessional, helpful and great fun to talk with. We became great friends and I got much help from them. I booked a Jeepney tour that lasted about 5 hours and we visited a time witness that had been at the scene when a B52 was shot down. The witness was then 12 years old and is today the only surviving witness. We visited him in his home and got a chance to talk with him in person, which was special. The jeepney also drove us to a place to eat famous Obama dinner and a dessert, we saw many hotspots of Hanoi. I also booked a Hanoi City tour that I was very happy with. I got to see Hanoi Hilton and Ho Chi Minh Mauseleum, and more. My tours were great, the guides were very good and I experienced much of Hanoi in a convenient manner. The breakfast Buffet at May De Ville Legend is very good, so I visited the Hotel many mornings, as I at the time lived some place else. I hope to stay at May De Ville Legend Hotel & Spa in the future. I got to see some of the rooms and they looked spacious and very inviting, with a neat shower and bathroom, and a large bed. There are City View rooms higer up with nice day light flooding the room. Reccommended. A sincere regards to all the Staff who do a great job at making your visit memorable.

Super new hotel! I was a little worried when I didn't see any comments, but I felt very relieved when I arrived at the hotel! The service staff are very kind, and each one is very attentive to take care of the guests. You can choose different types of breakfast every day. The breakfast is delicious! The manager is also very responsible and will be there every day. They will try their best to solve any intractable diseases. They can also ask if they have travel information, or if they want to do a spa. The rooms are very new and very smart, so there is nothing to be picky about! The overall feeling is super! Very pushing

It was great. I loved the location and how helpful the staff were! Lucy the concierge was amazing and super knowledgeable! Everything was close by and it was easy to get around. The beds were pretty good and the breakfast was also fantastic! The views from my room were so cool and I loved the street just outside the hotel, it was so beautiful!

To be honest, didn't stay at this hotel. This hotel is behind the White Horse Temple and there should be two stores. At the front desk of the hotel, my sister could n’t speak Chinese and communicated in English. Then she told us that the hotel circuit was broken. We changed to another shop, called TU linh palace hostel. Our room was small. But my uncle who came to meet us spoke Chinese and experienced the difficult communication in English. I felt kind to this uncle instantly. At that time, we did not exchange enough Vietnamese dongs. We exchanged 3,000 renminbi dongs with our uncle. Then I asked my uncle to buy a 22-dollar ticket to Da Nang for us. This is more pit, but as the first stop abroad, Hanoi can still accept it! !! In the end, Hanoi, as the capital of Vietnam, has more Westerners, less hotels in Chinese, and higher consumption. The hotel is like that, anyway, I didn't live in this hotel.

Highly recommend staying here, perfect location in old quarter, walking distance to everything, room spacious, spotless and comfortable bed. Fantastic cheap and quick laundry service. However the highlight was the wonderful man at reception. He is so warm and welcoming, greeted you every morning and evening with high-fives, handshakes and jokes. He went above and beyond for us, helping to organise our tours, buses, taxis all at discounted rates, he allowed us to leave our bags with him while on tours. He really made our stay so much easier and better, we ended up going back to stay 3 times because we loved it so much. 10/10 all round! Thank you so much for everything! We will miss you!
