Manhattan Hotel

The hotel's location is excellent, right next to St. Sophia Cathedral and across from Daoli Market. Taxis are incredibly convenient, and Central Street is just a 10-minute walk away. The rooms are clean and hygienic, and the breakfast is abundant and delicious. It's definitely the top choice for accommodation when visiting Harbin.

On my summer vacation to Harbin, I chose the Manhattan Hotel. It's conveniently located right next to St. Sophia Cathedral and Daoli Vegetable Market, and not far from Central Street. The hotel rooms are spacious and the breakfast spread is excellent.

The hotel's hygiene was terrible, and the service attitude was extremely poor, as if we owed them money. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in; it's practically unlivable. How can they even claim to be a 'high-end' establishment with conditions like this? Just look at the pictures to see how dirty this hotel is.

August 18, 2026, Harbin Manhattan: The shower drain is elevated, causing water to overflow all over the bathroom floor. Even with many towels, it didn't help. After showering, I had to call for maintenance. The engineer said there was nothing they could do as the drain itself was too high. They just had the staff wipe the floor, which took a long time, but it remained wet and slippery. What's worse, the drain caused a terrible smell in the room (see video). The renovations are incomplete, and the place is dirty everywhere (see video). The duvet had cigarette stains. The air conditioning was useless; it felt like it wasn't even on, and the temperature couldn't be adjusted at all. The bathroom light wouldn't turn off, and the door wouldn't stay closed. It also made a very loud noise when trying to close it (see video). The hotel acknowledged all these issues. Is it worth nearly 800 yuan for a room with all these problems?

The room was a bit old but clean. The hotel breakfast was just average. However, the hotel's location is excellent. You can see the St. Sophia Cathedral at night from the window sill right outside the elevator, and then see it again in the daytime while waiting for the elevator in the morning.

The carpet was quite dirty, and there were unwashed stains on the mattress and sheets. However, the front desk and housekeeping staff were very friendly and promptly changed everything for me. It's also super close to Saint Sophia Cathedral.

An old hotel, but its location next to the cathedral is a big plus. The price was also quite reasonable. The downsides were that the room had an odor and you couldn't open the window. The facilities felt a bit dated, and breakfast was just okay, nothing special.

Great location with paid parking available for 30 yuan, which is reasonable compared to other hotels. The front desk service was excellent, really appreciate it. The hotel is right downstairs from St. Sophia Cathedral, perfect for a 'special forces' (fast-paced) style of travel. The hotel facilities are a bit dated, which is understandable as it's been around for many years. They upgraded me to a suite for free.

Booked this hotel with a few friends for our trip to Harbin. The location is excellent; St. Sophia Cathedral is right downstairs, and it's not far from Central Street. The room was also very spacious, and breakfast was good. The only downside is that we had to pay a 30 RMB parking fee every night. Although it's not a lot of money, it still felt a bit inconvenient.
