First Group Magalies Park

Absolutely stunning place. Very relaxing, facilities clean. I must add that it was extremely full and the main pool at the reception area was dirty. I must add that I was not very happy with paying for everything including the kiddies water area

The condition of these units are of poor quality and definitely not worth R5600 (after online discount). The sliding doors are unsafe, as well as the windows. There’s a gap visible when the door is closed and they only use a hook to ‘lock’ the door. Any small object could easily be pushed from outside to lift this and the door could as well have been left open. The window just needs to be touched lightly and it falls open. Loose screws and doesn’t close properly. I wedged a big spoon in the window to prevent it from being pushed open. These are great security concerns. More than one hinge is broken in the bedroom and kitchen cupboards. We could only use one of the two showers because one is broken and the entire pipe shoots out when water is opened. The sink in the master bedroom is blocked/runs very slowly. Both toilet roll holders in the master bedroom’s bathroom are faulty and about to fall out of the wall. Both of them have to be held with one hand while getting paper with the other hand for it to be kept in place. I spent my first day calling maintenance and trying to make the unit more secure, but after an hour cancelled as we wanted to go out. I also reported items that were missing from the inventory list. I called maintenance again later that evening. They came out and looked. They said something was missing from the door and that they would come to fix the door the next day. That did not happen. We had to use our own initiative to secure the unit. While we waited for maintenance the following day, my wife went to do laundry. One washing machine was full of water that wouldn’t drain. The other machine was in use. She reported this and went again the following day and it was still the same. Also, R50 per wash compared to R20-R30 at other ATKV and Forever resorts. I spoke with Louwry, assistant manager at reception the following morning and said we were not interested in staying any longer and they could either move us to a better unit or compensate us for one night and we would find alternative accommodation. He offered to come and fix the unit. I told him all our stuff was in the unit and it would take a long time to fix everything. I was not willing to waste more time waiting for something that should have been right from the start. They wanted to move us to unit 60. We looked from the outside without the key just to see what it looked like. But the door at the kitchen had a rotten bottom end and one or two of the windows felt just as loose and made us decide to endure the second night. I’ve sent an email to Me Jordaan, the resort manager, but decided to write this review the following week after no reply. We were very disappointed. However, I gave it 2 stars as the restaurant was pretty good. Good food at reasonable prices. I would look elsewhere if you want to feel safe and enjoy a well-maintained unit. Avoid.

Lovely location. Close to Hartebeespoort Dam. 75 minute drive from Joburg ROOM (Stayed in 1 bedroom/4 sleeper chalet): Smallish unit. Basic amenities available. Will benefit from some maintenance. Filthiest I've ever experienced!! Despite waiting outside after check-in for housekeeping to finish up. Dead cockroach in bedroom cupboard to welcome us. Dusty. Lots of little bugs. Add to this no housekeeping on a Sunday! (Perhaps they should also slash their rates on Sundays?) And when the unit was serviced, a pile of new towels were dumped on the lounge couch instead of being placed in bathrooms. SERVICE: Generally very friendly staff. DINING: Self-catering. Braai facilities. Did not try the restaurant. Convenience store available. ACTIVITIES/FACILITIES: Lots of activities. Resort grounds are clean and much better maintained than chalet. Kids had good outdoor fun. Close to other Harties attractions. Booking/organisation of the activities on the other hand is quite shambolic and primitive. 2 Experiences of note: 1. Booked paintball target shooting for the kids in person at main reception a day in advance. Offered to make payment then but was told that I should only do so just before the activity starts. On the day, received a call from reception 2 hours before the scheduled start, insisting that I drop what I was doing and make my way to reception (around 1km away from my chalet) to make payment for the paintball right away. 2. Paid for a 1 hour 5-6pm Padel slot. Rackets can be collected from reception a good 200m away from the courts. At 5:57pm, after having vacated the court early for the next group, and while making the LONG walk back, received another dreaded reception call wanting their rackets back. MY BOOKING AGENT: Used RCI points WILL I RECOMMEND/ STAY THERE AGAIN? Unlikely

The place is so nice and there are so many activities to choose from. The accommodation was really nice and neat. The staff and the people there was really nice and friendly. Alex helped me to find everything and assist me, he was really friendly and helpful. I do recommend you to visit this place, you won't be disappointed. Can't wait to go back

Magalies Park holiday and Golf weekend. Our whole family had an amazing holiday and a wonderful stay! The staff was very friendly, and all the on-site activities were fun. All the kids enjoyed the play park so much and the water activities were exciting.

We had a fantastic time, and not even the coldest weekend imaginable, could spoil our weekend. The resort is clean, well looked after, and caters in all your needs. Every staff member we encountered, went out of their way to make your stay memorable. The Golf Course cannot be faulted and is a gem to play on. If i can fault one thing, and that is just a suggestion, is to reposition the microwave in unit 104. You need to be a gymnast to put something in the Microwave :). Otherwise the units are clean and provide you with all the necessary.
