Hotel Rugenschmiede is a small modern hotel set in the countryside. It has comfortable rooms, good food, friendly staff and a rural feel with ducks playing in the garden. It is perfectly situated just a couple of kilometres from the picturesque waterside village of Schaprode. From there, you can get to the lovely island of Hiddensee.

I took my parent on a short getaway, and this place turned out to be the perfect choice. It offers peace, quiet, and complete relaxation. I haven’t slept this well in a long time.

We arrived to find that our confirmed reservation was missing off their system. This has apparently happened previously to a number of others. The hotel was full and an earlier arriving couple had already been given the staff quarters. With no other local accommodation easily available we relocated back to Stralsund. Our initial impression of the premises despite never getting to sleep there was slightly underwhelming. One has to give praise to the gentleman working behind reception for his resilience in having to manage this situation caused by their booking system. If you have made a booking there my suggestion is that you somehow double check it exists on their system. Despite a confirmation of our booking we were not and our experience was not unique.

Das Hotel ist ruhig gelegen - genau richtig für Erholung Suchende. Das erste, was wir in der Früh hörten, waren Enten, Gänse und das Krähen der Hähne. Wir haben sehr gut geschlafen - nicht selbstverständlich in fremden Betten! Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das reichhaltige Frühstücksbüfett ist sehr gut, abwechslungsreich und lässt keine Wünsche offen! Es gibt Kaffee in allen Varianten: Creme, Cappuccino, Kaffee Latte, Milchkaffee, Milchschaum extra... Wenn man möchte frisch zubereitete Spiegel- oder Rühreier. Wirklich ein Traum!

Zunächst war das Hotel schwer zu finden, denn A. Es heißt Rügenschmiede und alle Schilder weisen nur auf ein Hotel Namens „Alte Schmiede“ hin. 2. es ist nicht in Schaprode sondern ca 2,5 km entfernten Poggenhof, der Nachbargemeinde. Wenn man abends ankommt. Keiner da… auch das Restaurant geschlossen. Kein Hinweis dazu auf der Website. Wir waren mit Öffis unterwegs. Also zu Fuß, also wieder 2,5 km zurück zum einzig offenen Lokal in Schaprode. Das Frühstück hat überzeugt. Viel Auswahl, reichlich. Zimmer im 80er Jahre Stil, aber ok. Gross und geräumig. Ruhige Lage, idyllisch mit Hahnenschrei und Gänsegeschnatter geweckt.

Sehr freundliche Gastgeber, die Nähe zur Insel ist hervorragend über die Fähre Anbindung geregelt. Das einchecken funktioniert in der Selbstbedienung gut ebenso die Getränkeregelung und die Option des Frühstück extra zu buchen.

Vorsicht Betrug!!! Wir haben 1 Nacht storniert mit der Voraussetzung, dass das Hotel das Zimmer noch gleich verkaufen kann. Das war der Fall, der Hoteldirektor hat uns die Stornierung zugesagt, Zimmer ist verkauft. Persönlich hat er uns das übermittelt und bestätigt, dass wir unbesorgt eine Nacht früher abreisen können. Die im Voraus bezahlte Summe erhalten wir durch sein Buchungssystem automatisch zurück. Nach mehreren Nachfragen per Mail, Telefonisch wird jetzt alles bestritten und wir haben kein Geld erhalten.
