We came here for Sunday carvery in March. Very glad we had been advised to book as it was very busy. Staff were lovely and looked after us so we'll, and the food was delicious. The lady carving the meat was very generous, and vegetables were cooked really well. The mashed potato was fantastic, especially with the meaty gravy. Would definitely recommend. Lovely walk at Muckle Roe afterwards.

We enjoyed our two night stay at the St. Magnus Bay Hotel. Guest room was large and offered a lovely view of the Bay. Clean and comfortable, the highlight was the delicious meals we enjoyed in the restaurant. Adorned with Viking decor, we felt the historical past and family like atmosphere to be unique and pleasant. Very easy access to the beach and wildlife viewing in addition to the local plants like Oyster plants nearby. I would highly recommend the St. Magnus Bay Hotel to anyone visiting Shetland Mainland.

Arrived in 50mph headwinds by cycle. The hosts Andrea and Paul and staff are most welcoming ,and you feel at home the minute you step over the door. The location is both beautiful and tranquil with awesome views all around. The hotel is comfortable and the food is excellent. The evening meals are worthy of note. The bar is the focus of lively debate . The locals were very friendly. I was offered great hospitality and got a lift with my bike to Brae on 2 occasions to assist me on my way. I would not hesitate to recommend this unique hotel that is steeped in history. Visit and you will find out ! Many thanks to Paul and Andrea.

Great location and friendly owner. Hotel is the only one in the area and although very clean - is beginning to look a bit tired. Good food - random service lol! Good flexibility with antisocial breakfast times. Basic room with an excellent shower. Hotel would benefit from a drying room.

Lovely family hotel in a great location. We were in the recently renovated annex with a view of the bay and it was fabulous. Super clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were great. The nicest place we stayed in our week in Shetland. Staff were friendly and welcoming too.

We were celebrating our grandparents Diamond Wedding and decided we’d go to Hillswick and the whole family would stay overnight. The staff were absolutely brilliant, so pleasant, very hardworking and attentive. The menu they’d put together for us was amazing and the food we received was exceptional! The way the food was presented was fantastic, with dishes of vegetables, mash and chips on the table for us to help ourselves to, brilliant idea! The wonderful staff had set a beautiful table with rose napkins and quality streets scattered, which was so thoughtful. We had additional touches to add and it all came together just perfectly. The staff that served us during our meal were absolutely brilliant, they were very busy with other tables, but did a brilliant job juggling alot of work, well done to them, they did such a good job! Both front of house/bar/restaurant staff were some of the nicest people I’ve ever seen, they were all absolutely excellent! The rooms were fantastic and the room our grandparents had was the Delux Suite and it did not disappoint, with additional touches of wine and chocolates! I’ve never seen a room like it, simply amazing! From the massive TV, to the beautiful fireplace, the most beautiful bathroom and a huge living room to spend with the family…outstanding room! We have had an absolutely brilliant weekend and cannot thank the wonderful staff enough. Each one of them are an asset to the St Magnus Bay Hotel! We will definately be back again!

A great hotel in Hillswick overlooking Ura Firth in the wonderful Shetland Islands. Full of bygone-days charm, with very friendly, ever helpful staff. Room was clean and had everything needed. Food was excellent (although slightly pricey). If you want an eat-all-you-can cooked breakfast to kick-start your day then this is the place to get it. Next stop Sunday carvery! Would definitely stay here again.
