Don't let the reviews fool you. Nice and peaceful, nice swimming pool and comfortable cottage but that is where it ends. Kitchen in cottage is very lacking. Restaurant and bar non existent.

Good location,very peaceful,loved seeing wildlife and birds and accommodation,pool was was green not clean.

This was the worst experience I have ever had . We went in with low standards considering the star rating as it was a last minute booking . Unfortunately it was worse than we thought. There was barely water in the showers and bugs / gekhos everywhere. This could have been overlooked but unfortunately there was a rat running in our room late at night and we did not sleep a wink. I will not recommend this place to anyone .

In enjoyed every moment. The staff is so welcoming, all of them in their different department. Lot of info about the culture. Good experience. Will visit again.

Gooderson DumaZulu Lodge & Traditional Village is a fantastic experience where you get to see how people lived in a Zulu Village. They engage the tourists by teaching both language and traditions. It is as educational as it is fun.

Unique space and experience. Staff very friendly. Love sitting by the fireplace eating our evening meal. Our group arrived late after a trip to Durban and they waited for us to make sure we had our evening meal.

Absolutely Digusted! Place was filthy the Carpet was so dirty ,they purposely cut off the lights and water at 8pm we were left in pitch darkness with 2 little kids ,no one even came to check if we're okay ,the Bathroom had mould ,place had a bad odour! I will not recommend Dumazulu to anyone !!!

This hotel could be much better. The accomodation is in small Zulu huts with thatch roof. We entered into our room, floors were dirty, carpets need to be cleaned. Staff are functional but not friendly. Not a welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely not recommend this hotel.

Disgusting as hell! So sad. This place has so Much potential, but you just cannot use the kitchen at all, everything is mouldy and disgusting! I cannot believe that this is part of Gooderson. Yuck! The buffet at the restaurant has limited options and they use too much oil in EVERYTHING!

A beautiful venue and wonderful staff. When we arrived, it was pouring with rain. The staff were so helpful and kind. We stayed for two nights and loved the atmosphere. The venue felt clean and spacious. We only had one meal at the venue which I felt was good value for money.

While very clean, potential of the lovely lodge is sadly let down by their lack of maintenance. Shower-heads in both our rondavels provided extremely minimal water - just getting soap rinsed off was a challenge so washing hair after a day in the bush is not an option. Bathroom door did not close due broken parts. Braai grids rusted & cooking in the kitchen was made difficult with only 1 medium frying pan, no pots, no wash-up cloths. Our one rondavel had no stove or microwave. Staff were always pleasant & arrival assistance with trolly was good, however, departure assistance was non existent. Staff need a heads-up that tips usually happen on departure. Having someone supervise these little things that make a big difference to one’s stay is vital in the hospitality industry as there are so many places one can choose from.

Absolutely amazing. As authentic as a modern day attempt to represent traditional lifestyle/culture could possibly be. This was exceptional. We do not do “cultural” shows because we find them to be shabby and touristy, but this was a valid tribute. We learned language, saw practical demonstrations, witnessed a traditional hamlet and viewed several dances. Our guide and the village hostess were excellent. We visited as part of a cruise excursion. The participants, they were not “performers”, were genuine in their attempt to proudly communicate their culture.

We had a great stay here. Very spacious rooms, well laid out, clean and tidy. Outsides painted in traditional tribal colours and buildings laid out in nice gardens. The staff are very friendly and helpful, being happy to help with our last minute requests.

Spent a weekend at Dumazulu. The snake tour was fantastic 👌🏻 Donald Schultz is a wonderful guide and extremely knowledgeable. He really goes the extra mile and explains in detail (well worth the money). The unit we stayed in was very clean, and staff were friendly. Over all, a great weekend and experience.
