Travelodge Hotel Hobart

The hotel's location is excellent, right next to the pick-up point for day tour buses and very close to the ferry terminal, making it super convenient for getting around. The hotel is cleaned daily, breakfast is plentiful, and the staff are all very friendly.

What I didn't like: 1) We stayed for three days, but the towels were only changed on the first day, and even then, only selectively – 2 out of 3. On the second day, I had to go to the reception myself to ask for a new towel. 2) The trash wasn't emptied, or rather, it was only emptied on the first day, and they forgot about it on the second. 3) On our last day, check-out was at 11 AM, but a man entered our room without knocking at 10:15 AM, using a key card. We weren't sure if he was staff or a guest who had the wrong room, but two of us were standing in our underwear at the time, packing our bags. 4) The breakfast was decent but exactly the same every day. There's also parking, but it's paid – $20 per night. On one of the days, we just stood there for 20 minutes calling to have the gate opened because the person from the reception had left at that moment.

I previously booked a Travelodge in Phuket and had a great experience with excellent value for money, so I didn't hesitate to book this one. However, despite being the same brand, it's a world of difference. Honestly, apart from being slightly cheaper, this hotel has no redeeming qualities. First, the location – while it's close to Salamanca Place, it's not very convenient for shopping in the city center, requiring a ten-minute walk. I wouldn't dare go out at night because there's absolutely nothing around – no shops, no people! Second, the staff aren't very enthusiastic, especially a large Asian male at the front desk. When housekeeping didn't clean my room or provide towels one day, I had to go down and ask him for some. He looked at me as if I was asking for money, with no expression, as if he was doing me a favor. Third, and most importantly, the housekeeping is terrible. On the first day of my stay, I found the floor very dirty, with dried snack crumbs left under the bed from who knows how many previous guests. These crumbs were still there when I checked out, along with tissues I occasionally dropped – the floor was never cleaned, and the table was dusty. On the first day, they didn't clean or change towels because I didn't hang the 'make up room' sign. On the second day, I hung the sign, and all they did was empty the trash, make the bed, and provide new towels, but they didn't remove the old ones. Finally, there's a major security issue. You don't need a key card to access the rooms, and the elevator on the ground floor opens on both sides. This means anyone from outside the hotel can directly access the elevator and go up to the rooms without even entering the hotel's main door, and without a key card! It feels completely unsafe. Delivery people and anyone else can freely access the room doors. In summary, this hotel is absolutely terrible and incredibly dirty! It's the first time I've felt compelled to leave a bad review right after checking in. It's been a long time since I stayed in such a dreadful hotel. It really put a damper on what was supposed to be a wonderful trip.

The room was clean, but the staff's attitude was indifferent. The bathroom had a fixed rain showerhead with no hose, which made it inconvenient for bathing children. Also, after getting off the SkyBus at the DoubleTree (stop 4), you still have to walk a short distance.

Since we arrived in the early hours of the morning, the hotel was very accommodating. Knowing my wife is pregnant, they allowed us to check in a little early so she could rest properly. Overall, it was good, aside from some noise. However, I think this is due to poor soundproofing, which seems to be a common issue across Australia. Essentially, it's very convenient, with a bus stop and light rail station right downstairs, making it easy to get to different attractions.

Centrally located in Hobart, this hotel is clean, tidy, and very convenient for getting around. Highly recommended, I'm very satisfied.
