Gondwana Canyon Lodge

As a tour operator at eyeseeAfrica, I recently again had the pleasure of staying at Gondwana Canyon Lodge during an educational visit—and what a memorable experience it was as usual. The location is simply unbeatable, nestled in a dramatic and awe-inspiring landscape just a short drive from the Fish River Canyon, one of Namibia’s greatest natural wonders. The setting around the lodge is breathtaking, with massive granite boulders and endless desert vistas creating a unique and peaceful atmosphere. The charming bungalows, built right into the rocks, are full of character and blend beautifully with the surroundings. The bungalows are currently undergoing thoughtful upgrades but will retain all of its charm and authenticity. What also stood out as usual was the warmth and friendliness of the staff—every team member I encountered made me feel genuinely welcome and at home. Their passion for the lodge and the region is clear and added a lot of heart to the experience. I can confidently say that Gondwana Canyon Lodge is a top recommendation for anyone planning a visit to the Fish River Canyon. It’s a perfect combination of comfort, character, and location. As a matter of fact, it is one of my favourite 5 lodges to stay at in Namibia. We look forward to sending many of our clients here soon!

Canyon lodge is one of the best lodges we have ever stayed in, and we have been to a few. The place looks like Hobiton, with little cabins scattered between rocks and resounded by trees and lawns. The cabins are well equipped and very comfortable, the staff is as friendly as can be and the food is great. The location, just at the gate of the park is a great bonus. Highly recommended!!!!

Stunning Stunning, some may say that its a long walk to the rooms, no Internet in bedrooms and no fridge or Tv, but we loved it

Beautiful A gracious lodge in a spectacular setting. We were welcomed warmly and helped to take our cases to our lodge. The lodge was smallish and basic but in a lovely spot surrounded by wildlife. Food was excellent, and we loved afternoon snacks on the terrace. The pool was beautifully sited and quiet. Darius led a very enjoyable and informative sundowner walk. Only a tiny criticism - the service in the restaurant was sometimes very slow. Overall our stay was a delight.

I had a not so good experience with Canyon Lodge and found their customer service extremely poor. While I had an issue, I would have thought that the lodge would have had better support through a difficult situation. They did not. Thus, my rating is what it is.
