Shangri-La Hotel Hohhot

Excellent! It had a wonderful festive atmosphere. We had a minor hiccup, but it was resolved smoothly. The staff are very conscientious and responsible. Next time, please remember to check customer comments to avoid similar oversights. [smiley face] Five-star review! They even gave my child a free breakfast, haha, felt like I won the lottery!

Putting aside the fact that the hotel facilities are outdated, which is an objective observation, the dryness and dusty air in the room are unacceptable. The windows were drafty and let in a lot of dust, making it a nightmare for anyone with allergies. On top of that, disposable combs weren't standard and I had to specifically ask the front desk for one, which was quite surprising. My room also had a locked connecting door, which felt really unsettling, and I could hear everything from the neighboring room very clearly. Overall, aside from the uninspired breakfast, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

I'll just list the cons: The hotel room facilities are too old and definitely need a renovation. The price including breakfast was too high, especially since they charged an extra 108 RMB for children over 12. We decided not to let our child eat there. We stayed at three hotels during our Datong trip, and all of them offered free breakfast for children, so this was a bit disappointing. The breakfast itself was also quite mediocre, perhaps due to the New Year period, making it not worth the price. The toiletries in the room didn't match the hotel's star rating; the shampoo bottle was actually empty, forcing me to squeeze out a tiny bit just to wash my hair. Overall, I felt quite let down by the Shangri-La brand.

Inner Mongolia in winter is seriously dry! The room attendants are very polite, and the cleaning staff and concierge are absolutely wonderful. The breakfast was good too, but they had a live stream going on during breakfast, filming everywhere and catching people on camera! That was really rude! The hotel is a bit old, but it's still clean. The complimentary fruit on the night of check-in was a nice touch, and you can ask for extra humidifiers if needed, though it was still quite dry. My main issue is that the hotel's problem-solving felt a bit chaotic. The front desk offered no service or information whatsoever, even regarding the complimentary Mongolian costume experience – they wouldn't tell you unless you asked! They definitely won't tell you where the breakfast restaurant is or about any other hotel facilities! The hotel is right next to Qingcheng Park, where you can go ice skating and set off fireworks. Trip.com, however, was incredibly efficient in handling an urgent matter.

Facilities: The facilities are average, the rooms are old, and the equipment is quite dated. The windows are drafty, making the room very cold in Inner Mongolia's winter. The air conditioning is also very noisy when turned on. Cleanliness: The room's desk and bathroom were relatively clean. However, the bedsheets were dirty, with hair, pen marks, and black stains. Environment: The hotel really needs a renovation. It's too old and outdated.
