Expensive accommodation for a one night stay after a vineyard visit. Wood burning stove didn't work. Two sinks in Avalon bathroom - one discharged water all over the floor when used! Sewage smell in bathroom and the shower didn't work. Just as well there was a bath which we could use. Very overpriced and the breakfast was poor - pre cooked and dry. Would not recommend.

Four adults, had vouchers for overnight stay and wine tasting and tour. What does Holmfirth want to be, Vineyard? Restaurant? Wedding Venue? The car park is badly thought out, nightmare! The accommodation should be situated next to restaurant, why would you put it up/down a narrow lane and a blind bend. Hence we had to use the car to drive 5 minutes round the bend. The reception/restaurant/bar was chaotic when we arrived, no pleasant greeting, just a no, you’ll have to wait over there pointing to seating area. Then, you can go to accommodation now, back round the bend. Then back in car round bend to have lunch, which was ok. Restaurant more like large cafe than dining room, however in circular area view is pleasant. Accommodation, back round the hairpin bend, plenty of room, beds ok, however, as it is circular, couldn’t have curtains open when you’re in as everyone passing to go to their room can see straight in to every room, Including bedroom. Also, looks like they have ongoing problems with unfinished work, pipes over walkway etc. parking a bad issue also, hardly any room and loose stones make it difficult to park, especially as you have to back out onto the, yes you guessed it that blind bend narrow lane. Ash, the colleague who conducted the tour, that never happened as weather was to bad,not your fault, was very talkative…for an hour and a half! Some people left, they couldn’t stand up for that long, some people were falling asleep ,have a contingency plan for bad weather at least have stools ready to sit on, my husband and friend also left and sat in reception. Also, a wine tasting which we eventually got to was a poor comparison, to others we have been to. No chance for question and answer, except at end of monologue ,no small cheese and biscuit items to have with the very meager amount of wine. Ash couldn’t get round everyone with the wine anyway because people were asking him questions. Consider smaller groups, better tastings, more sales, let’s face it you are supposed to be a vineyard. Ash explained all the problems about the vines etc and one year only having 250 bottles, also about opening new place at Robin Hood’s bay, also about the fact you cut the amount of weddings, I would have thought listening to this you would have promoted more weddings and Do more with restaurant events as it sounded like good money after bad, when you have to collect wine from the Bay to use at Holmfirth and you’re actually telling people this. Going forward get Ash some help with the tastings and tour. I know it’s the UK, but at your competitors, we have a lot of new wine Growers now, it’s only my opinion but I think you are all missing something. On our evening meal, which was very nice, we couldn’t have the wine we asked for as you didn’t have it, so we had to choose one that you had to bring in from somewhere else. ?? At a vineyard, selling someone else’s wine. Breakfast was lovely. Left feeling very let down. Decide what you want to be as it’s

We were really looking forward to a family wedding weekend but when we drove past the accommodation there was scaffolding up and workmen working!! Can only describe it as a building site!!! Upon arrival to the restaurant to check in we were told we couldn’t check in till after 6pm and no one had thought to let anybody know who was staying there including the bride and groom!! When we eventually were allowed to get into the rooms after 8pm it was still like a building site. No railings on the new bannister (they were having to replace due to it being deemed unsafe that week) so we were told. The rooms were dirty and in need of a refurb . Mould around the bath, sink and toilet. Cobweb's on the ceiling in the lounge area etc. the building work carried on until after 10.30pm with drilling the bannister on. Outside the rooms there were bare wires hanging. Dirt, dust, machinery, no seating. Manager was nowhere to be seen for an explanation or apology!!! We were given a free meal as nobody could get changed to go for the meal we had booked but unless you liked steak or fish you were left with nothing much else to choose. It totally spoiled our weekend and would not recommend it to anyone. All the rooms were booked by family for the wedding day!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED. Left a review on FB page and got blocked!!!!

We came to the vine yard for my birthday on the 1st March 2024, and were extremely disappointed. On arrival the entrance to the restaurant was dangerously slippy due to snow , this wasn't too much of a problem for us but an elderly lady was very nervous! To be told if the staff attempted to clear the snow they would be liable if she was injured! I appreciate this is a fact BUT this definitely set the bar on the vine yards approach to customer satisfaction! We had a glass of wine and then went to see our room , all I can say is wow!!!! How you have the cheek to charge customers for a room of this standard is beyond me! I've stayed in b&b's at £50 a night that are better than this! In a nut shell it was dirty and unmaintained not to mention the rotten floor in the bathroom and a stained king-size matress on a double bed base! Threadbare carpets and plastic in the logburner ( apparently an echo friendly place) not to mention stained and rusty furniture! Our children could have also painted the walls better! The manager was helpful and gave us a full refund and we stayed at a beautiful farm around the corner (Coddys farm) We have waited a month to leave this review in hopes the owners would be intouch with an appology! but no such luck. Shame on you trying to rip people off like this! What a shame this could be a stunning place.

Had a Saturday evening meal. It was less than average pub type food smothered in bistro gravy. Not much atmosphere to say it’s a lovely building. Disappointed and won’t be rushing back which is a shame because we like to support local businesses. Staff very pleasant though.

My three friends (all ex Home Economics teachers ) and I went for breakfast. I'm sorry to say the food was really poor. Dreadful vegetarian sausage..dry and completely overcooked as we're the scrambled eggs. The poached eggs tasted of vinegar. It's a common practice to use acidulated water for cooking.. but totally unnecessary if eggs are fresh. Bacon, sausages, poached and scrambled eggs all precooked. This food had all the signs of re-heating rather than freshly cooked. Basic, pappy white and brown sliced bread for toast.. what a shame when there are excellent bakeries nearby. If you don't have sufficient staff to cook breakfast properly and service your wine tour customers at the same time then I'd suggest you stop serving breakfast. We will not be returning as, despite lovely staff and a great location, the food left much to be desired. Poor quality ingredients and preparation and at £15 plus including hot (luke warm coffee) drinks.. expensive. There are FAR better choices for breakfast nearby. What a shame.

We recently had our vow renewal here, and the service was first class. They could not do enough for us before when planning, and on the day. Everyone had a fantastic day, and this is down to the staff and the service they received. The views are stunning, this and the staff made our day so memorable thank you

We had an amazing lunch and a tour of the Vineyard. Our lunch was perfectly cooked and plentiful too. We then had the tour with NIGEL and the way he delivered the whole tour was second to none! Nigel is a fountain of knowledge and he answered everyone’s questions and nothing was a problem. We also stayed in the Vineyards accommodation and again, it was loverly. If I had to be picky and I mean picky I didn’t like the oven, I can imagine a wood fired oven being amazing in the winter, but it 27 degrees the evening we stayed but it cooked our frozen pizza to perfection.
