The Mandarin Oriental, though not ostentatious, is perfectly nestled in the bustling city center, making access incredibly convenient. While the facilities show their age slightly, they are meticulously maintained – floors gleam, handrails feel smooth, exuding an old-world elegance throughout.
The doormen and most restaurant staff speak Mandarin, offering a warm and friendly service. At the front desk, while some Hong Kong-native staff might not be as proficient, English works just fine if you speak slowly. My favorite was the elderly gentleman at the baggage counter; every time he saw us, he greeted us like a kind uncle from next door, his warmth always a comfort.
The welcome towel and drink were perfect for unwinding. Though the chocolate amenity was replaced by an orange this time, it was refreshing. The fruit knife, probably meant for butter, was too dull to cut anything, so I just peeled the orange by hand – it was actually quite amusing. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with authentic dishes and attentive service. The only slight issue was that the seating staff were a bit busy, so we had to wait a little. Also, the billing process was a bit odd; sometimes they asked for a signature, sometimes not, but I just let it be.
I heard this was Leslie Cheung's last stop before he passed away. I wonder if he also used this same dull knife that couldn't cut an orange when he stayed here? Now that we've come, all I feel is a sense of peaceful serenity, with many others also coming to seek a connection to his memory.

After visiting Hong Kong so many times, this was my first stay at the Mandarin Oriental. It's an old-school hotel, and you can definitely see the glory it once held. While there are countless new five-star hotels nowadays, if you're looking for that old-money Hong Kong vibe, the Mandarin Oriental is still the place to go.
Even though the room had a slight musty smell, we didn't bother changing rooms since we checked in late. We had a sea-view room, and the room setup was very thoughtful: kids' toys, essential oils, Pu'er tea, and other tea bags. I especially liked that their combs weren't plastic. It was a shame the fan and chocolates weren't there, though.
For the complimentary water, they asked if we had enough and if we wanted an extra couple of bottles.
The environment is very quiet, much more comfortable than Tsim Sha Tsui. I'd definitely stay here again next time.

Overall, my experience was fantastic from start to finish. What truly exceeded my expectations were the exquisite birthday cake, the meticulously arranged items (like someone with OCD had organized them!), and the rich, mellow black tea. What met my expectations were the consistently high-quality service at every touchpoint, the incredibly comfortable sleeping environment, and the convenient access to attractions. As for communication, there were absolutely no language barriers, and all staff members were incredibly patient. In an era dominated by modern, sleek hotels, this traditional hotel model felt surprisingly warm and welcoming.

The rooms are clean, and although the decor is a bit dated, it's very well-maintained. The room service and restaurant service were attentive and detailed. While the prices were a bit high during the Chinese New Year, it's understandable given how expensive real estate is in Hong Kong. From a view perspective, the Mandarin Club rooms would be better, but they also come at a higher price, so it really depends on individual needs.

Booked the same room type for my parents too, highly recommend it! The fireworks were beautiful. The hotel service was excellent, and they even offered a free extra bed for kids, along with dolls and gifts. We had a great time and felt it was definitely worth it!

Both the afternoon tea and breakfast were very satisfying, and the chocolate palmiers were delicious. There was a particularly kind service staff member in the Mandarin Club, around 45-50 years old, from Hong Kong Island, with whom I had a very pleasant and long chat. As a first-time visitor to Hong Kong, it left me with an excellent experience. As an old-established hotel, the service was very warm, and they treated mainland guests without any discrimination. It truly lives up to its reputation as a luxury hotel. Highly recommended.

The long-awaited MOHKG! This trip was planned for half a year, and now that I finally have some free time, I'm writing this review.
Upon arriving at the main entrance, I was a bit surprised that no one immediately greeted me, but then the bellhop quickly took my luggage. The check-in (CI) was quite busy during peak hours, which I understood.
During check-in, I was offered lemon honey tea (I think?) and some chocolates from the bakery.
Most of the hotel staff seemed to be foreign, so I tried my best to speak English for everyone's convenience. I did notice, however, that they would reply in Mandarin when other guests spoke it.
The breakfast was just okay; the waffles were decent.
The scent of the diffuser stone essential oil was really pleasant, and it seemed to be the same as the lobby's fragrance.
During check-in, I asked if they still had the old version of the room key cards. As expected, they've been completely replaced with new ones [crying emoji].
Hearing the familiar 'moment of delight' was quite relaxing.

1. The hotel is located in my favorite Central, a prime location, which is why I chose the Mandarin Oriental HK.
2. The facilities are extremely outdated. There was an unpleasant smell as soon as I stepped out of the elevator on my floor. The electric kettle didn't have a keep-warm function, and the hairdryer was practically useless – couldn't dry my hair at all. The toilet was old and worn, and the trash can required you to manually lift the lid instead of being sensor-activated. The lighting was dim, with no smart sensors whatsoever. After turning off all the lights at night, there were still bright spots everywhere. The gap under the door was huge, allowing light from the corridor to shine in, which woke me up in the middle of the night and was quite startling. The ceiling was incredibly low, and combined with the dim lighting, it made me feel incredibly oppressed and dizzy. The air conditioning wasn't a fresh air system, making the room very dry. The bedding was old and worn, with multiple holes!
3. The hygiene was terrible. On the first day of my stay, I found hair on the towels! The toilet also had various sticky stains!
4. Room service was mediocre. I stayed for four nights and had to call for water every day. Couldn't they just put a few extra bottles in the room? The welcome fruit was a dried-out orange that looked unappetizing. The diffuser was only provided on the first day, and the Pu'er tea wasn't refilled daily.
5. The restaurant was small with too few staff. Despite clearly having empty tables, guests were made to queue in a long line outside for breakfast at over 9 am. After I complained multiple times, a staff member told me I could dine across the street (heaven knows I had just come from that very restaurant, which also had no seating). Furthermore, the food in the restaurant was absolutely terrible. It was the same every single day, with no variety whatsoever.
In summary, I absolutely do not recommend this hotel. I suggest the hotel management send their staff to visit hotels in mainland China, like the Jumeirah Guangzhou which is relatively close, to see the significant差距 in both hardware and software, before planning to upgrade the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong. It is truly, truly bad, completely out of touch with the times and utterly provincial!

The location is excellent, and the breakfast is fantastic and delicious 😋. The service attitude is great, and housekeeping is frequent. It's quite close to Central Station and Hong Kong Station, and also very near the Central Ferry Piers.

A perfect 10 hotel! You can tell it's an older property, but it's aged gracefully, not poorly. Like a vintage Ferrari, it exudes old-money charm. The entire hotel is refined and stylish, even the public restrooms are incredibly clean and elegant. The room size is generous, with a direct view of the Bank of China Tower – truly sleeping amidst Hong Kong's nightscape. From the window, you can gaze out at Victoria Harbour. The room also featured moth orchids and a telescope. The breakfast selection was incredibly rich and varied. And most importantly, the location is absolutely superb, making it incredibly convenient to get anywhere.

Having been around for 60 years, The Fan Hotel Hong Kong exudes a rich cultural heritage, even without needing to read the gallery descriptions. The room layout is well-designed, with smart lighting control, and the service cabinet is incredibly practical. The dual showerheads are an absolute dream! The amenities feel luxurious, and they even provide a full-sized bottle of body lotion! The 'sleep-well' fragrance and Pu-erh tea cake before bed were thoughtful touches, and the turndown service was excellent. Breakfast is split into à la carte and buffet options, both of which I tried and found absolutely delicious. I left feeling completely stuffed every morning, haha!

From the moment we checked in, we felt the warmth and sophistication of the MO. The welcome drink and chocolates were absolutely delicious, and there were so many lovely little gifts for the kids. The hotel was incredibly thoughtful, even padding the corners of the furniture to ensure the little ones' safety. My children enjoyed their stay so much they didn't even want to leave the hotel. The location is excellent, with direct sea views overlooking the Central Carnival, offering a truly stunning vista. It's also a short walk to both Central Station and Hong Kong Station, making the return journey via the Airport Express very convenient. The scones from the bakery downstairs are divine, especially when paired with the hotel's homemade rose jam – hands down the best scones I've ever had! MO truly feels like a second home; I'll definitely be back!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, and my experience was nothing short of exceptional, special thanks largely to the incredible service provided by Dear Sazha at the reception.
From the moment I arrived, Sazha made me feel genuinely welcome. Her warm smile and friendly demeanor immediately put me at ease. She went above and beyond her regular duties. Sazha demonstrated a level of service that is truly rare.
Her proactive approach and genuine care for guest satisfaction significantly enhanced my overall experience. It is clear that she takes great pride in her work, and she is undoubtedly one of the hotel's most valuable assets.
To my big surprise that I even receive hand-written letter from her as a big pesent which is truly impressive.(I am a letter person!!!)
If you are looking for a hotel where the staff truly makes a difference, look no further. I cannot recommend the Mandarin Oriental—highly enough.

Mandarin Oriental, as always, didn't disappoint. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and attentive to detail. The room was quiet and the bedding was very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit small, though. The location is excellent; it's a 10-minute walk to the Peak Tram and also very close to Central Pier.
