YHA Bradbury Hall Chek Keng Youth Hostel (Sai Kung)

I had my heart set on hiking the MacLehose Trail, but unfortunately, I suffered heatstroke at Po Pin Chau in the morning, which derailed my plans. In the afternoon, I ended up hiking in the rain and then in the dark. Rushing to get to my destination, I accidentally fell and injured my leg. By the time I arrived at the guesthouse, looking quite dishevelled, Peter immediately noticed my injury. He quickly helped me with first aid and arranged my accommodation. Traveling alone, his kindness was incredibly comforting. Peter is witty, humorous, and very enthusiastic. He recommended the best travel routes and local food. This was truly the best part of my trip to Hong Kong!

Stayed for a night's rest after hiking the MacLehose Trail. The environment is beautiful, with fantastic views from every corner of the courtyard, surrounded by mountains and a bay. It would be even more perfect in the summer if kayaking were available. There's a well-equipped common kitchen, and it offers great value for money. Highly recommended.

After a long, tiring day hiking along the MacLehose Trail, I stayed here to rest up. It wasn't peak season, so I was pretty much the only guest that night. I ended up chatting with the owner, who was incredibly kind and we hit it off really well. He helped me sort out a lot of life's questions, and I want to express my gratitude again 🙏. I'll definitely be coming back to visit more often.

The location is fantastic! Right at the Chek Keng Pier, in a beautiful setting. Our family of three shared a room; it was small but had everything we needed. Peter was very welcoming and attentive; we were very grateful to him.

I did a reverse MacLehose Trail hike, not wanting to do a full load, so on the fourth day I arrived early at the YHA on Section 2. I relaxed, soaked up the sun, kayaked, cooked instant noodles, and Brother Bian even gave us some vegetables and bought me his last can of beer. The next morning's toast with peanut butter was so touching 😹 Using a disposable duvet cover was a bit of a challenge… Next time I'll probably bring a small sleeping bag.
