Ka Laʻi Waikiki Beach, LXR Hotels & Resorts

I had stayed at this hotel several times when it was still the Trump Hotel, but this was my first time since it became the 'Ka La'i Waikiki.' It was a pleasant and sustainable stay. The partial ocean view room offered a decent view of the ocean, and my friend, who was visiting Hawaii for the first time, was also satisfied. I had heard it was renovated, but the plumbing fixtures were still old, so I had to request repairs during my stay. The staff was kind and polite, and overall, it was a satisfactory stay.

The location was great – close to shopping, tour meeting points, and the beach, yet quiet and peaceful as it was on the edge of things. The room had a kitchen fully equipped with dishes and cooking utensils. The lanai also offered a nice view! There was bottled water in the fridge, and it was replenished daily! There was also a coffee machine. It was a wonderful hotel with modern amenities and a luxurious feel. The only downside is that rooms other than the suites don't have washing machines, and there's no communal laundry room, so you have to use the laundry service.

This was a short one-night family stay, coinciding with my parents' 40th wedding anniversary. Overall, the experience was a mix of good and bad. ✅ **Highlights** The hotel environment is excellent. The rooms are spacious, and the bathrooms feature double vanities, indicating solid foundational hardware. The in-room amenities are Byredo, with a pleasant, high-end fragrance, which is a definite plus. There are many Japanese staff members, and their service attitude is friendly, with prompt room service. Coinciding with my parents' 40th wedding anniversary, the hotel thoughtfully presented us with a bottle of champagne, which we deeply appreciated. The balcony view is a huge bonus, facing the beach directly. On Fridays, we could watch the weekly fireworks show from the neighboring Hilton without having to jostle through crowds, making for a very special experience. The room comes with a full kitchen. If you don't want to eat the hotel's buffet breakfast, you can buy ingredients from the ABC Store and prepare simple meals yourself, offering great flexibility, which is perfect for family travel. ⚠️ **Downsides** The check-in process was quite frustrating. During peak hours, the hotel strictly enforces a 4 PM check-in time. After our family arrived, there was no suitable indoor waiting area, so we had to wander around outside in the hot sun to kill time. This was very inconvenient for a family trip. Objectively speaking, while the staff's attitude was good and we received a surprise treat for the anniversary, when compared to similarly priced luxury hotels in Japan and luxury brands of the same caliber domestically, there's still a gap in the overall service completeness and detailed processes. 📝 **Summary** It was an adequate stay for one night. The unbeatable ocean view balcony, the ability to watch fireworks, the Byredo amenities, and the thoughtful anniversary champagne were all highlights. The room type with a kitchen is practical for families. However, the rigid check-in process during busy periods is a clear drawback. If visiting during peak season, be prepared for a late room handover.

As a long-time Hilton Honors member, I had an exceptional experience on this trip. The staff were incredibly warm and friendly, helping me out with many things, including my travel plans and itinerary. The room was also very satisfying; I booked a sea-view room and it truly offered beautiful ocean views and a clean, comfortable space. When a noise issue came up during my stay, the hotel swiftly and proactively resolved it. The Trip.com staff were also very responsible. All in all, I'll definitely choose Hilton again on my next visit.

Our stay was simply the best. When I emailed them in advance about a birthday surprise, they responded immediately and arranged a cake with a special message for us! Thanks to them, the surprise was a great success. Thank you, Takako-san. The room was very spacious, and the kitchen and bathroom were spotlessly clean. We felt comfortable throughout our entire stay. All the staff members were polite and warm, and we felt their hospitality at every turn. This is a highly recommended hotel that I would definitely want to stay at again when I come to Hawaii next time.

The hotel is great, especially the thorough and fun cleaning service, which even includes dishwashing daily. The dryer was a bit dirty, but the washing machine worked well, and the sunny balcony was perfect for drying clothes, making it ideal for a vacation. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a handheld steamer, which made ironing very convenient. The hotel also lends out sun umbrellas and beach chairs, but the quality isn't great – a strong wind could easily blow the umbrella away. Free coffee is available on the first floor before 9:30 AM, and you can buy onigiri just a short walk away. The only thing to watch out for are two of the female front desk staff – one named Rachel and another who looks somewhat Chinese – they are quite mean. I'd recommend seeking out the male staff for easier communication.

Stayed here for our honeymoon. They brought us a complimentary bottle of champagne, and the room they prepared for us was fantastic. The location is also great, with easy access to the city center.
