Highfield Park

What a fantastic Sunday Lunch celebrating with my family. The food was superb. Beautifully presented and delicious. The tables were laid beautifully and decorated with fresh flowers. We were in the Wellington Room which was just perfect. Staff were excellent. Highfield Park is set in fantastic grounds with stunning views. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Superb! Beautiful building in a beautiful rural location. I had a comfortable double room in the main house with warm, quiet, clean and very comfortable. Stayed here many times. Staff always helpful and consistent quality. Convenient from both the M3 and M4.

Dissapointing afternoon tea despite initially looking appealing . Was bought by my kids for Xmas, have had afternoon tea here before and it was lovely. This time not so. Cakes were frozen and not fresh, still frozen in the middle. The scones were chewy and despite the offer of unlimited tea and coffee there was never a staff member around to ask for it! Had to go hunting in the main restaurant to get one. The coffee looked more like dishwater, infact the only nice thing was probably my latte. There were 2 other couples here today and both left leaving half the food which speaks volumes.

Stayed here as we were attending a wedding reception, Staff on arrival were friendly when checking in, we paid £100 for bed and breakfast in a small double which was all they had left when we booked. We asked about room service for breakfast but the receptionist didn’t know if this was available. We got to our room which was on the top floor on entering we couldn’t get the main light to come on and also the bedside light wasn’t working, the room was very small and tired looking with very creaky uneven flooring, we went and informed reception about the lighting whilst we collected our belongings, the receptionist informed us that she had checked and the main light takes a while to come on and she had left it on for us, the bedside lamp still wasn’t working, to plug the kettle in you had to unplug another lamp, there was also meant to be a safe in the room but there wasn’t one there, the bathroom was very large but very basic and very limited toiletries available and if you wanted more you had to purchase them from reception including a shower cap for 50p, the window was placed right by the bed and the bed didn’t even have a headboard, the room was uncomfortably hot even with the heating off for late December, Even with the window open this didn’t provide any relief from the heat, the room was clean but not spotless as we found empty lids and rubbish in the bedside drawer and marks in the bathroom, The paintwork was chipped and the colour a horrible green made it feel very bland, we have stayed in a lot of hotels and Manor House’s for a similar cost and I unfortunately have to say this was the worst room experience we have had, the room was completely not like the photos advertised and was definitely not worth £100 a night and that apparently was discounted because of being part of the wedding party, we unfortunately would not return.

I needed a stop-over to break up a long drive for work and therefore simply wanted somewhere safe, clean and comfortable to stay. The cost of a single room for one night at less than £40 was so low I feared the hotel wouldn’t have a roof but I took a chance. What a surprising delight I had! With its grand house, beautiful grounds, welcoming and tasteful bar with good food, excellent staff and a very comfortable stay, I would definitely book again. I would upgrade to a double room for a longer stay but the single was more than do-able for a night’s crash pad at unbeatable value.

Got a last minute deal (*********** with genius points) as working in Reading which was just over 30 minutes away by the back roads. Beautiful location, rooms was comfy and Wi-Fi throughout hotel more than fast enough. Plenty of parking which can sometimes be an issue when you get to the hotel late and tired. Staff were brilliant and food was very nice, Becks on draft which is always a bonus as far as I’m concerned.

My Husband and I along with 2 family members had afternoon tea today ay Highfield Park. It was the best afternoon tea I have had in a long time. Everything was so fresh and tasty. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the experience. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and attentive. All together a wonderful experience. Thank you.

Went to a murder mystery evening with friends. We booked rooms to stay the night but now wished we hadn't. The entertainment was very good but the food average. The steak was overcooked and they tried to serve me a panna cotta dessert as a vegetarian - I had to insist the ingredients were checked and eventually they changed it for a fruit salad. Would have been annoyed if I had eaten the gelatin but more to the point, they need to be more careful considering some people have serious allergies. The room was very small (double) and in a separate building to the main hotel. This meant walking across the gravel car park and down a pathway with speed bumps and absolutely no lighting! In fact we all struggled to even find the main entrance to the hotel as their signs were small and unlit. Breakfast was disappointing- buffet style in a soulless room. Beautiful hotel but doesn't quite deliver on expectations

Had a very disappointing family afternoon tea. The welcome at reception was warm and very polite and we were taken to a very dull side room with 3 other tables. No decoration just tables and chairs set out for 3 small groups. Our drinks order was taken quickly and we didn’t wait long for the tea to be served. We were not told what the food was it was just put on the table. For two people there were 8 finger sandwiches of egg, ham, strong cheddar cheese and chicken. The mini cakes were brownies a fruit cheesecake, lemon mouse that you couldn’t eat all of as the pot was small and the spoons to big and then a little bottle of juice but I don’t know what flavour it was. To finish off two scones with jam and cream. The child tea was the same just smaller. We were there for an hour and only saw the staff when the first delivered the food and they came in once to ask if we wanted any other drinks. For the price this was definitely not worth it, very disappointing all round.
