My wife & I were treated to an overnight stay, that included evening meals, drinks and breakfast by our kids. The room and facilities were really nice and cosy and the evening meal was wonderful. The staff were friendly & attentive and provided first class service. We had a good night's sleep and was greeted to a lovely full English breakfast. If you're in the area and are looking for a nice place to rest your head, or just have a meal or drink, this is well worth trying. Highly recommended.

Today we travelled from Byfleet Village stopping off at Alton, before travelling on to The Poacher inn for lunch. We were made very welcome, and the food was absolutely delicious. I settled for the Steak and ale pie which was lovely the meat was so tender and along with the gravy it certainly passed my test. Rosemary had the fish and chips which was also very nice, but found the batter a little to crispy, but never the less she still enjoyed it. The inn is well worth a visit, you will not be disappointed. Once again may we pass on our thanks to you all From Ray, Rosemary, and our dog Susie.

We were a large pre-booked/ordered group for Sunday lunch - and had been given the choice of only beef or chicken. We were asked to buy our drinks @ the bar before going to our tables. Food came out quite quickly - apart from the vegetarian option which arrived 15 minutes later. For £17.50 I had one slice of beef the size of my palm, plus veg's (missing the peas) and a Yorkshire. Plates were cleared and then ... nothing! A group member went and asked for a dessert menu; there were x4 options, x3 of which came with vanilla ice-cream "but we haven't any vanilla ice-cream". Then she went to ask them to come and take tea & coffee orders, "sorry the coffee machine is broken". "And by the way the Ladies toilet is out of order." I asked them to remove the 10% service charge. Such a disappointment.

We went for Sunday lunch. Very good, but too many vegetables for me, a little more meat please, seasoning required on the creamed leeks. The cherry sundae dessert was amazing, much better with the vanilla ice-cream. We will return to try the main menu. NB: Thank you to the lovely young lady who looked after us (15/9/24)

We went to the poachers tonight for a birthday celebration. The good was they took the cake we supplied and kindly brought it out to us after the meal. The bad….sticky floors and tables, broken chairs, lack of food on the menu, they even ran out of pie, sausages, chips! The food was very poor, and it took an hour to get our starters. The staff were friendly but we won’t be visiting again.

Another excellent meal. Pierre and his team are warm and always so welcoming to me and my dad. We've stopped by last minute on numerous occasions and they have always been more than happy to accommodate us. The chicken schnitzal i had on Sunday was delicious couldn't manage to eat it all....my dad was more than happy to help out ☺ We'll be back soon......

The Poacher Inn is a lovely village pub. Last night Pierre hosted a great 'taster' evening to launch the new menu. Everything was delicious especially the fishcakes and hummus. Followed by a quiz brilliantly hosted and a good mix of questions.
