Under the leadership of a new couple, the hotel and restaurant is on the right track to make Houffalize and the hotel du Commerce the new destination in a beautiful region. The genuine hospitality with a touch of Belgium taste, the authentic commitment of the new owner and their staff to make your stay memorable is something to encourage. In a business that is often and easily criticized their efforts are worth to be highlighted. Looking forward to come back and taste the new menu! The Fraenkel’s family from Lausanne

Welcome to Faulty Towers! I have stayed in this hotel on 10 different occasions and my last visit the hotel has gone down hill. The service is quite terrible , Slow and lethargic. The staff appear sick of the place. They have intermittent power cuts where the lights flicker and they tell you don't go in the lift. The rooms are so antiquated it's unbelievable. Even the light sockets in the bedroom are so poorly located and the switches seem to control different lights. The show is crap ( cheap plastic) and the rooms have now air/con. So you suffer in 38 degree het even with the windows open with their cotton/Polly sheets. The breakfast is so outdated . If you have allergies like gluten free, you can forget it. I had to take my own breakfast. The place drastically needs modernising and money spent on it. My advice, keep clear and book another place!

Having stayed in a few 4 star hotels, including the sister Hotel Belair in Bouscheid I was hoping for a similar experience. Unfortunately I was very much let down. The room was shabby, the walls scuffed, damaged skirting boards, the bed side light fitting hanging off the wall, as was the headboard. I was sure the underfloor heating in the bathroom was switched on (we visited during the recent heatwave) so was not comfortable. The banister rail on the stairs was loose. On the Saturday morning of our visit, we were awoken by the considerate chap over the way pressure washing the front block paving in front of his property, which I believe belongs to the hotel also. We ate in the hotel and the food was average but not worth over 110 euro's that we paid. Breakfast was OK but the selection varied each of the 3 mornings we were there, again the breakfast room was very tired and curtains missing.

We based ourselves here during a recent motorcycle trip. Staff were friendly the room was fine etc. no issues. The breakfast buffet is quite large , If you cannot find a breakfast to suit you I’ll be amazed. ( you often see people taking a lot more than they should to stock up for the day which is greedy, no consideration for other guests ). From cereals, to breads , pastries to hot plates of bacon and eggs etc. There is something for everyone. We had dinner a couple of times in the hotel between steak and chicken stir fry kind of dish, pasta, and we couldn’t fault the food or service. The location is great with secure parking offered for motorbikes and the town has a few bars around and there’s a good base point if you want to explore the wider area. Car parking also available. The hotel is in a busy village so in the morning is a lot of far machinery would pass through early but for us it wasn’t a deal breaker but we did have the windows open because it was quite warm. There is a pharmacy and convenience shop close by, and a garage for fueling 2 mins from hotel. . We would stay here again. Thanks.

We really enjoyed out time at this hotel. The service was very attentive, the room was clean and large. The room was a little noisy from the road, but they gave us a fan for white noise and we had no issues. I would definitely return to this hotel.

We booked this hotel for a multiple day hiking holiday. Houffalize is a great "base camp". The hotel is very well organised and the staff very friendly. The breakfast is fine but could do with more plant based / vegan options. The hotel itself got stuck in the 80's and could do with some maintenance and a little facelift. It is situated at the main road of Houffalize. During our stay there was a lot of heavy agricultural traffic, which was however not noticeable in our room. would book it again for a short hiking trip.

Positive: spacious rooms, friendly staff, small but decent wellness (free between 4 and 8 PM - if you are lucky no one is occupying the space) , free parking, good atmosphere overall. Could be better: quality of food (breakfast and dinner) - The breakfast buffet offerings are overwhelming. The quality of the food is not as good. The dinner was sold under the title 'gourmet' - this is exaggerated - the food is basic, and probably not worth the money. When booking the hotel, we were hoping for an authentic 'Ardennes'-experience - this hotel offered us more of a 'bland' one.

Not a 4 star but a 3 star hotel rating we stayed in rooms on the 3th floor and had to trow away leftover food rubbish from the clothes cabinet, took long to get warm water out of the faucet, staff very friendly and helpful, good bar and good wines, great breakfast.

Very charming hotel near the Ourthe, ideally located for beautiful walks in the vicinity. Sufficient parking in front of the hotel, which is also free. A warm welcome and an extremely flexible team. The bar is in Ardennes style that exudes coziness and immediately makes you feel at home. Very pleasant and professional service. You are very pampered. As for dinner, we decided to eat a la carte, although I must admit that the menus looked tasty too. We didn't have to wait long for the food and ended the dinner with a delicious sabayon based on Cherry Chouffe. The breakfast is very extensive, we had breakfast late, but there was still plenty of choice. As for the rooms, they are comfortable, quiet and spacious, with good beds. The bathroom is very spacious, we had the room with a bubble bath which we enjoyed. A good price in relation to the hotel facilities. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
