Best Western Princes Marine Hotel

Hotel is clean and well kept overall but quilt at end of bed was visibly stained and appeared dirty so did not use it. Room is comfortable with everything you need and staff are attentive and super helpful. Had problems with room key - if anywhere near your phone, won’t work. No shop to purchase snacks, food, drink, but drinks, ice, and limited menu available from bar for a good part of the day - until 2:00. If beyond that, you have to go out or have food delivered. Breakfast is offered though. Great location, no AC, but room comfortable and fan provided. This hotel is better and much less expensive than other four-star hotels in Brighton and Hove. Recommend for the price paid.
OYO Albany, Brighton & Hove

We walked into the property and instantly felt disappointed. The carpets were rippled and thread bare, the smell was fusty and the whole decor was tired and in need of serious attention. We had a lot of luggage and on the 3rd floor with no lift, an offer of help would of been appreciated after a 7 hr journey. Walking up the stairs, the carpets got worse, literally every step was thread bare, the walls were cracked and the painting looked decades old. We entered our room, the smell was very unpleasant of drains, there were screws holding tiles into the wall in the shower, the shower fitting came off with the shower head when you removed it. The sink didn’t drain and when I removed the plug it was because it was full of gunk, hair and clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. There was a piece of plywood propped up in the bathroom against the tiles with a sharp pointy end. No idea why that would be in a hotel bathroom. The mattress was lumpy and very poor quality. Thankfully I took my own pillow. Chunks of plaster was missing from round the light switch and other parts of the wall. I got bitten by something on my ankle when I was standing on the carpet. The toilet wouldn’t stop filling so my partner fixed it and said it was full of limescale so the seals didn’t work anymore. The drain smell got progressively worse and we asked to move rooms. We were moved into a very similar room, although it didn’t smell thankfully. The plug was slightly cleaner, mattress the same and the front of a draw was left propped up against the dresser. The owners of this hotel really need to invest in it. The staff have an incredibly difficult task trying to get this property presentable although it could of been better. We knew for just over £100 per night that we wouldn’t be staying in luxury but I have stayed in much cleaner, comfortable hostels at half the price.

Great location. Warm and Clean. Free WiFi. Room itself was spacious. Bathroom was old and needs an update. A bit creaky as could hear other guests from their rooms. Overall a pleasant stay and great value for money.
