X Hotel Brunswick Square

Great location. Warm and Clean. Free WiFi. Room itself was spacious. Bathroom was old and needs an update. A bit creaky as could hear other guests from their rooms. Overall a pleasant stay and great value for money.

I had to find somewhere at short notice following problems with a house move and this place seemed like a reasonably priced & convenient option. However I am now wishing I had read the reviews here before I booked. I too had to provide a further deposit when I arrived, which hadn't been mentioned in the Agoda booking process. I then had to send a picture of my passport via Whatsapp, despite having the passport with me. I am now worried that they may now use these to scam me out of more money. The room failed to live up to the description in the advertising. There was a TV but it was fixed to the wall and the lead didn't reach the power socket so not useable. The WiFi worked in the foyer but not in the room. I tried to contact someone from the hotel staff about these issues soon after I arrived, but they had clearly all left for the night by then. In addition to these issues there were no plugs for either the hand basin or bath, and no bathroom mirror, so that made shaving & brushing teeth difficult. The bath has very high sides and there were no grab rails making climbing into and out of the bath risky - particularly for older, less agile guests. Furthermore when I returned to the hotel later in the evening I found all the other guests were in the foyer as the fire alarm had been activated. Some were trying to reset the alarm panel while others were trying to contact the hotel staff, but again to no avail. The walls seemed very thin so I could hear people arguing in the next room and also people moving about upstairs. The bed was moderately comfortable and the kettle worked but otherwise it was a very poor experience. I would have liked to raise some of these issues with someone from the hotel staff when I left ("checked out "!) in the morning, but again there was no-one to be found. Surprised that a place like this is a) allowed to operate, and b) able to operate through supposedly reputable sites & apps like Agoda.

Horrible hotel. Very suspicious way of operating. First they asked to pay £4.97 per guest as some additional fee when nothing was mentioned on the ***********. The payment is asked which directs you to some Malta thing which my bank blocked saying its a scam. I told that at the reception but they were absolutely rude and asked me to pay £10 as I didn't completed the "online check". The online checkin is sending your personal id to some random WhatsApp number. After so much stressed I checked in and god what a filthy hotel it is. Feelt like a dungeon. Dirty carpet, dirty bed sheets and dirty bathroom. Pay few pounds more and go to a better hotel.

The room was disgusting , no words can describe the room , cold , damp paint coming off walls, the curtains were hanging off Carpet dirty A nightmare to get in the place and than had to pay more money as deposit on arrival We refused to stop at this room , photos on late rooms did not display these rooms We checked out immediately and booked else where

What a disgusting place to stay, would have rather stayed on the streets. Mold in the bathroom, stains all over the furniture, rubbish everywhere, unfinished rooms, mess and broken cupboards and so much more. Avoid at ALL costs!!!!!! Wish I could give a minus star rating.

Good crash place but not cleaned properly - poo stain on the toilet!! and food crumbs on bar stools. Had a family room for 4 adults, 3 beds on mezzanine floor which meant you could not stand straight up, not enough height.... ridiculous online check in system, help and customer service nil. There is a check in fee and you have to do it yourself.... it you are looking for a cheap place to crash after a night out ok but otherwise move on and spend an extra 10/20 somewhere else. Also had to supply id on whatsapp which has left me slightly nervous as now my details are out there... no faith that that is deleted once you have checked out.
