The room was just like a typical budget hotel, with no wardrobe and barely any towels. They provided two disposable bath towels and two disposable hand towels, but the quality was poor, very scratchy and purely synthetic. I'd recommend bringing your own.
This hotel is essentially a guesthouse, and Ctrip's four-star rating is completely misleading. After checking in, I really regretted not choosing a hotel like Hanting or Atour; it's just not in the same league. The floorboards had wide gaps, they only provided disposable paper cups for drinks, and breakfast was gone by 9 AM. It's absolutely unsuitable for families with children under six.
What I found most unbearable was the water from the tap – it was very dark. I even cooked noodles for my child with it earlier, and now I deeply regret it.
If you're traveling with young children, it's best to avoid Huangshan during holidays. There aren't many good hotels near this scenic area. Even Wyndham and Hampton by Hilton look quite average. If you're two adults coming for hiking with no specific accommodation demands and low expectations for breakfast, you might consider it. The bed was reasonably comfortable, but the facilities are definitely inferior to a real star-rated hotel. A two-star rating from Ctrip would be much more appropriate; four stars really sets you up for a big disappointment.
The owner and the front desk lady had excellent service attitudes and very pleasant voices.
