Huangshan Bai Yun Hotel

Staying one night at this hotel turned out to be a fortunate decision — I will definitely return. The staff were kind and attentive, the room was clean and well-maintained, the buffet offered a wide variety of delicious food, and the location was ideal for accessing nearby scenic spots. Among the many things that impressed me, the most remarkable was the attentiveness of the staff. They were genuinely considerate, quickly recognizing our needs and going out of their way to assist. It’s clear that the hotel’s policies support and empower the team to deliver thoughtful service. Let me share one memorable experience: My son and I arrived at the hotel completely soaked from unexpected rain. The front desk promptly arranged a warm, comfortable room for us and even allowed check-in several hours earlier than usual. The room had a compact yet powerful clothes dryer that quickly dried our wet clothes. A staff member also brought us a shoe dryer and a cup of hot tea to help us warm up. Throughout our stay, the staff kept us updated via the WeChat app with helpful information — including weather forecasts, buffet reservation updates, and events like a cultural performance in the lobby. We were also offered thoughtful perks, such as a complimentary massage chair coupon. Although the cloudy weather prevented us from catching the sunset or sunrise at Guangming Peak, the excellent experience at the hotel convinced us to return this fall to try again. ⸻ What I Enjoyed: 1. A cozy coffee shop with around 10 tables in the lobby — perfect for relaxing with my son after dinner. 2. Snickers bars and Korean Choco Pies from a small self-service snack corner in the lobby. 3. Thoughtful in-room extras beyond standard amenities: two umbrellas, thermal jackets, and a foot bath bucket — great for unwinding after hiking. 4. Tasty fast food just 50 meters from the hotel — two hamburgers, three chicken wings, and crispy fries from nearby snack booths. These paired perfectly with two cold cans of refreshing Qingdao beer from the coffee shop fridge. 5. Guangming Peak — around 1,800 meters above sea level and only 500 meters from the hotel. The uphill stone steps took me 15–20 minutes to climb. 6. Xihai Cable Car Station — located about 15 minutes on foot from the hotel, offering another scenic way to explore the mountain.

The room was pretty spacious. Our host Ms. Huang was very accomodating and helped us a lot on our trip. The location is outstanding for sunrise and sunset!

The location was excellent, only about 20 minutes from the Bright Summit where you can watch stunning sunrise. The room was very clean, though the noise insulation was slightly on the lower end. The housekeeper Song Shulin was extra helpful by giving me tips and made me feel like at home, even though I do not speak Chinese, which I really appreciated! Plus, there was a small show in the evening! All in all, a very great place to stay at in Huangshan!

In April, I stayed at Baiyun with my mom for a night. The room is small and not soundproof (neighbors may be loud, but the hotel can provide earplugs), but it’s very comfortable, cozy, and clean. We got a room with a slanted roof, and a small sitting space near the window. The shower pressure is very good, and the water gets hot quickly. There’s even a bucket to soak your feet after hiking, and thick jackets and a flashlight for usage outside. The service is very attentive and courteous. When we arrived, staff 叶鹤菲 (Ye Hefei) showed us around the room, and later even gave us some gifts (some fruit, tea leaves, and local snacks). Via wechat, she sent us info on the hotel, weather and sunrise conditions. The buffet dinner was 160rmb, while breakfast buffet was included - pretty tasty with many options. It’s expensive, but understandable knowing that all the food has to be carried up through the hard work of manual labor. It takes a while to reach Baiyun Hotel from Yungu cable car, but it was worth it! You can see the sunrise from the nearby Aoyu Peak (~10-15min hike up) or Guangming Peak (~20-30min hike up, more tiring). At Aoyu Peak (which they recommended), I was able to see 云海 (sea of clouds), which was very beautiful. Hopefully the weather is good (the days before it was very foggy and cloudy, low visibility). Great excellent personalized service with lots of additional perks by Huang Customer Service Manager. She responded quickly to our questions. The upper floor was a bit noisy as you can hear the wind howling, proof that you are living on the mountain top!

Irreplaceable Location: Right near Guangming Peak, it’s the prime spot for sunrise, sunset, and sea of clouds! Watching the sunrise requires no long trek in the morning, saving significant energy. Just a short walk (about 15-20 minutes) from the hotel door gets you to the best viewing point – friendly for families with seniors/children or anyone wanting to avoid exhaustion! Clean & Cozy Rooms: Mountain-top conditions are limited, but the room was exceptionally clean and tidy. The bedding was dry and comfortable (crucial in the humid high altitude!), and being able to take a hot shower and sleep soundly after a day of hiking was pure bliss. Window to a Fairyland: Our room window faced the valley. When mist swirled, it was like a fairyland, on clear days, we could admire the majestic, overlapping mountain peaks. Lying in bed enjoying the mountain views – it's totally worth it! Breakfast: The variety at the mountaintop buffet breakfast was impressive for such a high altitude. Getting a hot, filling breakfast like this at 1,800+ meters to fuel up for the day's adventures was absolutely essential and deeply satisfying! Special praise for Steward Huang(黄星华)! Her service was super warm and attentive, providing loads of practical information from check-in guidance to itinerary suggestions. Upon checkout, she thoughtfully gave us a small gift. While not expensive, this gesture felt incredibly warm and heartfelt.
