A beautiful place, very welcoming, lots of attentive staff. A varied menu but my one criticism is the lack of vegetarian/vegan options on the à la carte menu. One of our party is allergic to nuts but thankfully not vegetarian as far as I could see the only option for my vegetarian daughter was the dish with pistachios in it. ….. if that had been the nut allergy person….. there would have been no choice!

Lovely setting and a high standard of service -- attentive, accommodating. But the quality of food leaves a lot to be desired -- neither living up to the classy service nor the elevated prices. My wife and I visited after being gifted a £50 voucher as a birthday present. My wife had The Acres Homemade Pie with "proper chips". The chips appeared to be store-bought thin fries (probably from frozen), and the pie was no tastier than a Fray Bentos (the big difference being the price: £26 versus £3). I had the half chicken and added sides of garlic mushrooms and roasted honey-glazed carrots. My meal was very tasty; the chicken was cooked to perfection, and the gravy ("jus") added some wonderful flavour, which was complemented by the addition of the garlic mushrooms. However, unfortunately, the carrots were served almost raw. They would have been a terrific addition had they been cooked properly. The Three Acres positions itself as a high-end restaurant without the food to back it up. It's good pub grub with prices to match its style rather than its substance.

Saturday night visited 3 Acres for the first time since its reopening to celebrate my sons 21st birthday. Lovely ambience and we had a great time. The bar is very well stocked and great choices for the scotch lovers in the party. However, the service was slow and the presentation of the fillet steak mains was a little unimaginative for the price plus being a little on the cold side which was disappointing. Being served and topped up for the red wine by the sommelier was a treat but the white wine drinker had to do it himself. There were plentiful waiting staff but we counted 5 servers attending to us which may have led to some confusion of requests. Might be an idea to have one server per collection of tables to make it a more personal service? We did really enjoy ourselves but consider it a special occasions place due to the prices rather than a regular haunt.

Super meal here. We were a big table on a Saturday afternoon. Food was expensive however we didn't mind paying as I have to say it was the best steak I've ever tasted cooked to perfection. Big portion sizes, friendly staff and service was quick We will definitely be returning

Recommended by friends who had been before and had wonderful service, food and experience. However today unfortunately did not meet our expectations. The four of us were seated on a table next to the service bar with a double door at the side of us. The food was excellent, the service was not what we expected of the three acres. The staff were very young and friendly but from a customer point of view needed more training. The outer door was opened all through lunch by the staff carrying and taking chairs in and out. The table was so close to the wall that one of the guests who was fit and able could not get her feet under the table due to the table leg being so close to the wall. All the above was mentioned at the end of the meal to one of the senior people who apologised. A coffee or an after dinner drink could have been offered. We all felt we were in the naughty corner and would we go again???

Amazing location, atmosphere and outstanding food and service. Our children took us here to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and it was wonderful. The location, adjacent to the Emley moor tv mast and the pennine countryside is simply stunning. The inn itself is beautiful with tastefully decorated dining areas and bar. The walls are covered in testimonials from A lister celebs and sports stars who have visited over the years. The quality of food on offer was superb and the service impeccable. Yes it is very expensive but as a one off treat for a very special occasion it was unsurpassed and we were left with wonderful memories of an outstanding evening. Absolutely fantastic experience.

Place beautiful, lovely decor and atmosphere. Staff attentive and wine (I actually had the french house white wine) was lovely. Bar also served budvar which you dont always find. Only ordered mains... I fancied the Lobster, but it was 65 pounds (which I would normally go for but thought it was overpriced) so went with the seafood platter. The seafood platter came with battered fish pieces which were nice enough and garlic prawns which were tasteless in a watery sauce, so I didn't eat these. The calamari was also tasteless. The scallops were small, came with cheese and were the nicest seafood on the plate. I wasn't sure about the warm oysters, there wasnt much to them (but have had them before at 3 acres at a woodfired event a number of years ago and they were amazing), fries were excellent. My partner had the lamb, which was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. It had a celeriac puree which was lovely and the tenderstem broccoli was also well cooked. Overall, I've had better/same food for lower prices and would not order the seafood platter again. If you're visiting, the lamb is good choice. The venue and staff were lovely and we had an ok night overall.

We stopped off for lunch on the way to a Bruce Springsteen concert, and it proved to be an excellent choice. The set lunch menu at £23.95 was good value. I enjoyed my main of shepherd's pie and peas, which had a very tasty cheesy topping. Service was good and the staff were happy to chat when we asked about the renovation work. The view of Emley Moor Mast is fabulous ; still the tallest building in the UK. We shall return.
