The Golden Lion Hotel

Excellent location overlooking the sea in Hunstanton lovely room as took our pooch Marley very dog friendly hotel

Lovely experience - 2 night stay with my mum and an 8 year old and the Golden Lion was perfect. My 4th time to Hunstanton but always stayed further out in the past. Booked over the phone with Trish who was helpful and friendly. The room was huge - so spacious! The location is perfect for a walk on the beach or nearby restaurants. Had dinner in the bar on day 1, food was great as was breakfast the 2 days. I’ll be back to this hotel - lovely and relaxing stay.

The bar, dining room & conservatory are really lovely. Food was good. Sadly ground floor rooms are tiny, clinical and smell of disinfectant. Horrible bathroom. Not a superior room at all more basic. Disappointed given GL belongs to Lodge group. It really is a flagship location and could well do well but it looks like refurb is not finished, has money run out? Also it’s a bit difficult at the entrance having to push past all the smokers. Could end up being a bit rough if management don’t keep standards high.

We went for Sunday lunch in the bar which we had booked a few weeks ago. The roast beef dinner was delicious. We were looked after by Charlie and James who were brilliant, very attentive but not too much. Nothing was too much trouble for either of them. We really enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely return.

The room (number17) outstanding, lovely bed massive shower, warm comfortable and very clean (well done the cleaners). The food was very good and plenty of it (well done kitchen & waitress staff). There were a few issues, waiting to get served when barman kept serving others in front of you, even when told politely you were next before 2 other groups (management please check cameras, bar staff be more aware of your customers) . The restaurant very cold when people come in and out of the conservatory doors for a "Smoke", also in the restaurant there were 4 dogs 3 of which were barking at each other (not for long but very off putting when your trying to have a nice meal), on a minor side sitting opposite my partner we had to raise our voices because the tables are quite large and privacy not there, it would be more comfortable is the table each side of number 60 were turned so the backs of people were towards you, this would able you to have a bit more privacy. Would we go back to The Golden Lion.....Yes but probably drink somewhere else

A very enjoyable stay in a beautiful hotel, the hotel has recently been refurbished to a very high standard, the rooms are well appointed and spotlessly clean. Food is exceptional and always presented hot. The staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely be back.
