Back to the Lakeside Lodge for lunch as the food is always consistently good, decently priced and with a varied and quality menu. Particularly good for vegetarians and we don't end up eating the same menu choice over and over. Restaurant is spacious and service always attentive and friendly. A particular big thanks to Fenton who primarily served and took our orders but mentioned in dispatches for Jasper, Alex and Sarah. Didn't catch the names of the chiefs but top marks to them all! Oh and Fenton - we watched the video...Fenton, Fenton, FEEENNNNTTTTOOOON!

Today I visited this course with a good friend as we really wanted to play the course as it had been years since we had. The pro shop had plenty of stock and the reception lady was lovely and very helpful ,and that's about as good as it got .The cost of mid week golf and buggy hire was £105 pounds ,yep £52.50 each , ok the buggy was smart and had GPS tablet on board to read tge distance on course but the course itself was in awful condition. The bunkers were full of sand you couldn't play out of ,and weren't even raked , the fairways were ok but ive played better on a municipal course , several greens were full of pitch marks, and sone around the edge of greens had very little grass meaning on a couple of occasions I was playing of mud !!!the 19th was ok ,food was good but again expensive and a pint of San Miguel and soda and lime £7.75 , maybe im tight but really??? All in all very disappointed and we both agreed we would not return again for another 10 years !!!

I was very much looking forward to visiting Lakeside Lodge Golf Course and, on parking up, was very excited. We went into the restaurant for a bacon sandwich and a coffee. When I asked for my bread to be toasted, I was told, “We can’t do that.” I asked why and was simply told, “We can’t” (I’m not joking). I was asked if I wanted brown or white bread, but not whether I wanted smoked or unsmoked bacon. I prefer unsmoked. We then went to sign in and collect our buggy, and the welcome we received from the lady was great—friendly and welcoming. We were shown to our buggy and went to the first tee. The course looked great at first, but as you play your round you start to notice bunkers with little sand, unshaped and messy. Some of the fairways were just mud. I hate writing this, but the overall condition of the course, in my opinion, was 5/10—and that’s the problem. When you are paying £35 a round midweek, plus £35 for a buggy, that’s £105 for two people with one buggy. At that price, you expect the course to be immaculate or at least close to it, and it was not.

Finch x 20 Our lovely Linda Finch from Ullesthorpe golf club is our organiser. We have been coming to Lakeside Lodge for over 20 years (that tells you something) and as always the staff really really look after us. The food is always excellent, but this year they went up a level. The weather was very hot and some of our ladies happened to say, I don't know how anyone can stand in the kitchen and cook all this tasty food, with this a young man appears behind the bar looking all hot and bothered. We asked him if he was the chef and he said yes he was. His name is CALLAM, he has been working for the company 7 years he told us. Well young man Callam we are so grateful to you for delivering excellent food, it's people like you that give good reputations. The Bar staff were great. Here is to another 20 years

This has to be the worst golf course for conditions i have ever played , tee boxes where awful from long grass to large uneven surface etc , then the fairways were bare and uncut long weedy grass , then the main fault is the greens , never seen anything this bad from dirt patches and weeds all over and this is a watered down review , shocking

We visited for my brother-in-law’s 40th birthday with a group of 6 adults, 2 children, and a baby. Overall, we had a fantastic experience. The service was excellent—Sarah, the manager, and our server Cally were both incredibly attentive, friendly, and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was absolutely delicious, and we really appreciated that they kindly stored a homemade cheesecake we brought for the celebration. They even provided cutlery so we could enjoy our dessert, which was a thoughtful touch. The men in our group had a great time playing a round of pitch and putt golf and enjoyed a fun game of bowling afterwards, which really added to the overall experience and made it a memorable day for everyone. The only downside was the high chair provided for our baby. Unfortunately, it wasn’t suitable, as it didn’t reach the table, so the baby had to sit on my knee throughout the meal. This meant my partner and I couldn’t eat at the same time, which did affect the experience a little. It would be a big improvement if the high chairs were updated to include trays so they’re more practical for younger children. Aside from that, everything else was lovely and we had a really enjoyable time. We’d definitely return!
