📍 Rafalia, Idra, Hydra

"Really excellent choice. Staff were really helpful, the room was good and the location was perfect. Near enough to everything but far enough away to be peaceful. The only criticism was that the wifi was weak and it took forever to send emails, don’t think about downloading anything."

"Simple one of the best hotels in Hydra! Is simply lovely, the staff, the location, the breakfast! Nikkos the Chef indulged us with home made cookies and the team prepared us a quick breakfast the day of the check out cause we had to leave early. The hotel is set in a lovely and elegant old house!"

Hotel Miranda

Hotel Miranda ★★★★

📍 Miaouli, Idra, Hydra

"Hotel Miranda was a fabulous spot to explore Hydra for 36 hours, we would have stayed longer if we could! Yanna and her team went over and above to make our experience amazing! They very kindly allowed us to keep our bags at the hotel while we awaited the evening ferry. Breakfast fabulous and the rooms very authentic to the grand mansion - the hotel has been in the same family for over 65 years!"

📍 Mandraki Bay, Hydra

"I don't think the hotel quite lived up to my expectations. The breakfast was good, and the lunch was decent, but the dinner menu had very limited options and nothing that really stood out. The room itself also fell far short of what I expected. Considering the very high price, it simply did not justify the cost. There were ants and other small insects on the bathroom floor, and the pool area was also full of bugs. Overall, the room did not feel like the standard you would expect from such an expensive five-star hotel. The staff did not behave like employees at a luxury hotel. Instead, they came across as though this was their very first job and they had little idea how to handle guests professionally. That is not the level of service you expect when paying so much to stay at a five-star hotel. The owner was not friendly either. On our last day, the hotel had agreed to transport our luggage to us. They failed to do so, which meant we had no choice but to travel without our bags. When we called the owner, he laughed throughout the conversation instead of taking the situation seriously. It was completely unprofessional. In my opinion, this hotel is not worth visiting. There are countless other hotels that offer far better service, higher standards, and much better value for money at significantly lower prices."

📍 Voulgari, Idra, Hydra

"One of the most wonderful hotels we have ever stayed in. Beautiful and perfect in every way. There was a ferry strike so we stayed longer! Amazing and enormous breakfast, wonderful location and excellent staff. Very clean and we would stay here again for sure"

Angelica Traditional Boutique Hotel

📍 43, Andrea, Miaouli, Hydra

"The hotel is particularly beautiful, quiet, no room number, each room is distinguished by a Greek goddess. The room is particularly exquisite, and the mountain opposite the hotel is a school, especially warm."

📍 Port of, Hydra

"The hotel is in a fantastic location right near the port and some great swimming spots. The rooms and lovely. However, the service was poor. A few examples include: Every day when we left our room they would come into our room and turn the aircon off. As it was 37 degrees during the day, we wanted to come back to a cool room after being out for lunch etc. Each day we asked them to stop doing this and each day they continued. On one occasion I had a 7.30am work call and asked to order a coffee to have while I did this call. They said they were unable to make coffee before 8am - crazy in a luxury hotel at these prices. Every day the barista got my coffee order wrong despite ordering the same thing every day for the duration of our stay. The girl on the front desk was quite rude and unhelpful. She claimed a few times it was just that she didn’t speak English well (which seems concerning given most of the guests staying speak English) however at other times it seemed to be clear she just wanted us to get out of the hotel each day and not ask for assistance for things like reservations for restaurants. In the end we organised things ourselves. On one day the tour guide we had organised for 7pm had called the hotel to cancel and they had not bothered to notify us - we got to reception at 6.45 only then to find our tour was cancelled It’s a shame as the hotel itself is lovely (however I would not recommend it for older guests or those not strong and fit to do lots of stairs - the main staircase is very steep and long - I’m in my mid 30s and found it hard to do each day in the heat. There’s no alternate access). I do hope they improve the service in future if the expect to charge the prices they do for this hotel."

Mandraki Beach Resort - Adults Only ★★★★★
"My recent stay at Mandraki was anything but the relaxing seaside retreat I’d envisioned. Despite the beautiful location, the experience was ruined by a pervasive, overwhelming smell of burnt plastic and chemicals that lingered everywhere in the hotel. The scent was not just unpleasant—it felt hazardous. I’m unsure of the source, but the toxic smell seemed to fill every hallway, room, and even outdoor spaces around the hotel, making it hard to find any relief. Opening windows helped only slightly, and at times, the fumes were so intense they caused headaches and even made breathing uncomfortable. While I appreciate the staff's effort to maintain a clean and welcoming environment, the smell was beyond masking or ignoring. It's concerning that such a harmful scent was allowed to permeate the entire property, posing potential health risks to guests. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this hotel to anyone until this serious issue is fully addressed and resolved. Pros: Great location Cons: Toxic, overpowering smell, potentially harmful air quality. Overall: Avoid until resolved. This hotel, despite its positive aspects, is currently unsafe for a comfortable stay."

"It was advertised as a 5 star hotel with good WiFi and a bathtub but in fact was at best a 3 star B&B, tub was broken and had no WiFi.. was willing to pay the $1k/night for what was advertised but got swindled by this property. Pros: it’s a beautiful old building with a beautiful view of the sea from the windows. Cons: it’s a beautiful old building, but has not been renovated aside from a cheap bathroom that was barely functional. There was mold from wood rot that had been painted over to look ok, but if you have mold issues you will get sick. No wifi in our room, they kept gaslighting us about it. The tub was not functional and you had to hold a shower spout to clean yourself because there was no shower otherwise. 5 star hotels have room service etc obviously that was not the case here either. Basically complete fraud."

"We walked here from Hydra twice for lunch. The setting is particularly beautiful. Impeccable service and excellent food. Despite being part of a luxury hotel, prices were similar to other nice places on the island. Very, very highly recommend"

"Due to weather conditions (it very lightly rained with calm wind) however the ferry was not running to hydra, they would not accommodate any sort of refund. I’m quite disappointed as i spent nearly $200 for my stay here and never had the opportunity to experience it. I paid for the full refund optio, though I can’t anticipate a ferry being shut down for an hour of rain."
