"Our third consecutive stay in Japan’s onsen scene brought us to Kitakobushi Shiretoko Hotel & Resort. Though labelled as a 3-star hotel, this resort is the very definition of an underrated masterpiece. From the moment we arrived, it became clear this experience would rival any five-star destination we’ve ever visited. Our room was a slice of paradise—spacious, serene, and offering a panoramic view of the breathtaking sea. Perfect for a moment of calm after a day of exploring. It was hard to tear ourselves away from the window, with its infinite horizon stretching beyond the blue waters. The bath experience was equally indulgent, with Dyson and Refa hairdryers in the public bath area. The soap and shampoo provided in the public baths? Luxurious, premium products that they also retail on-site. A small but significant touch that elevates this from your average onsen. Where do I even begin with the buffet? It was nothing short of culinary theatre. Imagine live cooking stations serving up dishes with the flair of a fine dining restaurant. From sashimi so fresh, it redefined how I think about lean tuna—the texture was almost reminiscent of beef!—to the incredibly generous portions of salmon roe. Each dish was top-tier, but the dessert station truly took my breath away. A unique pumpkin and sweet potato creation was the surprise highlight, and I couldn’t help but indulge in multiple helpings of the organic apple, crisp and fresh like it was picked that very morning. For fitness enthusiasts, there’s even a decent gym—a rarity for many onsen hotels. Meanwhile, the 24-hour lounge provides a range of delectable snacks, all of which are sold in their store. And though the prices may seem steep, the taste makes them worth every yen. The free daily scoop of Peter Beier ice cream was simply divine. Made with Hokkaido milk, the vanilla was already a showstopper, but the pistachio took the experience to another level. After this, it was impossible not to purchase their chocolate truffles—pricey, but easily worth the splurge. The experience extends outside the hotel, where an outdoor foot bath awaits with a view that will make you feel like you’ve entered another world. As long as the weather cooperates, this is an experience not to be missed. In short, Kitakobushi Shiretoko Hotel & Resort might officially be a 3-star, but in our hearts, it’s a five-star experience through and through. A perfect blend of luxury, nature, and comfort, it’s an onsen resort that deserves to be on every discerning traveller’s radar."

"Fantastic Onsen hotel..located on the hill top, all rooms assigned overlooking into the OKHOTSK SEA, with huge room and shower room are separated from the WC. The hotel provide a shuttle bus from UTORO ONSEN BUS TERMINAL and will pick up guests from here. Another good point is,there is a Airport Bus Liner which comes direct to the hotel to pick guestyfor drop off at Shiretoko Shari Bus terminal enroute to Mambabetsu Airport. The breakfast is really yummy with lots of spread however the buffet dinner is average and the same spread for the two nites I stayed. Where else the ONSEN, I would give a 4/5. Another good point to note is those coming by train to Shiretoko Shari station, opposite is the Shari Bus terminal which provides transer to the UTORO ONSEN BUS TERMINAL.in about 50 mins. Overall Shireto Daiichi Hotel is a big luxurious hotel and they provide shuttle for onwards bus transfer to the SHIRETOKO NATURE PARK which is so beautiful to wander out to seek nature's awesomeness."

"The room is very good. It is really nice to have a five-star hotel in such an inconvenient place. I booked a one-night stay and two-night stay, but it is not very convenient on the mountain. It can only be picked up by phone at the Utoro Bus Center. Because I stayed in the Chief the night before, I had to rush to the Shiretoko Center early in the morning. I didn't want to carry my luggage. I booked a hike in the afternoon. The driver would take me to Kiki. But the luggage couldn't walk, so I wanted to go to Kiki to store my luggage first. Time was a bit tight, so the lady boss of the Chief took me up. In addition to transportation, this hotel is good, with large rooms, free hot springs, and very few people. There are free popsicles and drinks at the door, and there is a forest-themed rest area in the lobby with free coffee, chocolate cookies and cheese. As for the meals, there are many dishes, but the variety is not rich. The taste is also average, but the milk and fruit are good~"

"I stayed here for one night for work. This time I came by car, and since it was a weekday, the parking lot 🅿️ right next to it was empty and easy to park in. Considering the possibility of using the express bus from Sapporo, I asked in advance 🏨 and was told that there is a plan (for an additional ¥4,000 on top of the accommodation fee) where if you bring your bus ticket stub, you can check in immediately at 5:45am when the 🚎 arrives, take a bath ♨️, and have breakfast 🥢. 🚉 It's conveniently located in front of the station, but there don't seem to be any shops open early in the morning, so I thought it was a great service."

"The hotel is located halfway up the mountain. It is a very quiet and large hotel. You can watch the sunset over the sea at night. It is more than 1 km away from the bus station, which takes about 20 minutes to walk. Eating is not very convenient. You can choose to buy hotel food or go down the mountain. The hotel has a specialty store. The hotel room is very large, with thick carpets that are very comfortable to step on. There is also a large hot spring pool, which is open for a long time, from 3 pm to 9 am the next day. If there are too many people and you are embarrassed to go, you can wait until midnight to go, haha. The hotel's yukata is also very nice, a sky blue one with a short coat on the outside. Then there is a bus pick-up point to Memanbetsu Airport at the entrance of the hotel, which is very convenient."

"It's along the national highway, but it's very nice to be surrounded by forests. The sauna was also water-cool, but the thick bath next to it was the best. Bogey was my first experience, but by the time I went around for two weeks, I was working in a corner while spinning. Even at this time of year, it was cold at night, and I enjoyed the fluctuation of cooking firewood and watching the cup. Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture was humid, but it was the best without the humidity of Shari Town. Thank you. I will visit you again."

"The location is on the mountain, and I couldn't contact the business. It was really hard to drag the luggage up the mountain. Other facilities such as free drinks, coffee, tea and instant noodles in the free activity area are highlights, and there are public bathrooms for hot springs. There is no supermarket around, so if you don't buy enough food at the foot of the mountain, you can only eat their instant noodles to fill your stomach."

"Hotel is situated in front of a beach and my sea view room is nice although the beach is not beautiful. Kitchen is super professional and dining area with bar table facing beach and binoculars. Room is spacious and bed and duvet is comfortable. There are plenty of drying rack inside room with big hanging closet. The toilet is a bit dangerous as only 3/4 step in front of it."

"The location is quite convenient. I booked a mountain view room. The room is very large and has tatami mats where you can sit and eat. There are hot springs to soak in, which are separate for men and women, and there are open-air hot springs. The room is fully equipped with toiletries. Shiretoko is really beautiful. It was a great trip~"

"It is a large B&B on a hillside. The owner will explain everything about staying here very carefully to the customers. It is very impressive. The whole environment is well organized and well managed. It makes you feel at home. This time I stayed in a new hotel. Floor, there is a faint scent of mats in the spacious room, the dinner is sumptuous, the service in the cafeteria is very good, and the sense of ceremony is full. After dinner, I soaked in the hot springs, which was very comfortable to relieve fatigue. I saw many people traveling on motorcycles staying here There are many high-end motorcycles here, which shows that it is a popular inn. I will choose to stay here next time."
