The neighborhood is called Ausable Acres where each home is separated from its neighbors by trees thereby offering considerable privacy. The Acres has a lake, miles of trails for hiking or cross-country skiing and a picnic pavilion area. For fisherpersons, there is access to the Ausable river less than two miles away. Within three miles is a Top’s Supermarket, Stewart’s Gas and Convenience store, movie theatre, pizzeria and liquor store.The interior of the cabin is constructed with tongue and groove knotty pine throughout. The bedroom has a new queen size log bed. The bathroom is newly remodeled. There is a sitting area with a wood stove, kitchen, dining area, a desk with ample room for writing in your journal or laptop and an area with comfy chairs for just relaxing. The home has a three-zone electric heating system, so a wood fire is optional. There are two USB charging stations and high-speed internet. The kitchen has an electric cooktop, oven, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, electric tea kettle, dishes and lots of cookware that allow our guests to prepare a home cooked meal or breakfast. In warmer months enjoy relaxing on the front porch or cooking on the gas grill in the side yard which also has a picnic table. Our cabin is designed for one or two guests. Absolutely no pets are allowed. The loft is not accessible. Wi-Fi has been upgraded to Spectrum FIOS at 300 MPS.Located one mile from the house is Lake Eaton, where you can canoe or hike around the lake, perfect for children. The community of Au Sable Acres has a tennis court and slightly more ambitious trails; a trail map is in the kitchen. The house is minutes from Au Sable Forks where there is a movie theater, great pizza place, wine store and supermarket. In Wilmington, about a 10 minute car ride, there is a river front beach with volleyball court and picnic area. You can also enjoy the summer concert series in the heart of Jay just down the road from the house. A bit further is the wonder of Lake Placid, about a 20 minute car ride, where you can browse the outlet stores and artisan shops and enjoy lake view delights and dining on Main Street. For a nice day trip, downtown Montreal is about a two hour car ride away. Other nearby activities in the winter are world class skiing at Whiteface Mountain, bobsled and tubing at the Mt. Van Hoevenberg Olympic Center, or ice skating and dog sleigh riding in Lake Placid. In the summer, hiking trails abound as well as fishing holes, golf courses, and boating in Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, or Lake Champlain.3 Night minimums are required for all Holidays weekends.NO SMOKING - $250 fineThere are two Ring Video doorbells at the front and back door. There is a down-stairs living area that is comprised of a large bed-room that hosts a queen size bed, a futon (pull out full size bed) and an amish made rocker. Stairs leading to the downstairs bed-room/living area are complete with log rails & log gate for safety. Mountain Home has a covered porch with comfortable Adirondack Chairs plus an open deck to relax outdoors. There is an outdoor grill (bring your own charcoal) and fire pit (please keep fires small and contained). An outdoor hose is available. Soft sandy ground easily tracks through the home so please, we ask that you remove your shoes upon entering. Water is safe to drink. Septic system on property can handle toilet paper only. The Mountain Home is cleaned with all natural cleaners by (PUR Evergreen) products, Milliken, Co. Ausable Acres is a quiet neighborhood. Evening quiet hours are in place from 10pm to 7am. . As such, we have the expectation that our guests will honor the peace & quiet of the surrounding area.
