MacDougall Clansman Hotel

I stayed at MacDougall Clansman in April while on vacation with a group of friends. We had 3 rooms in total and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is excellent, it was a 5 minute walk from the train station, even with my very American suitcase. Iain and I had messaged earlier in the day about my arrival time and my room was ready early when I got there around 1:30pm. Even though we all booked separately, Iain surmised our group was together and managed to put us in rooms near each other which was really nice. The rooms were all clean and neat with tea and coffee with a kettle as well. Breakfast each morning was prepared to order, good variety of standard European breakfast items available plus more traditional Scottish breakfast. We easily walked to restaurants and bars nearby, parking is available on the street or in a nearby parking garage. Highly recommend staying here when you are in Inverness!

The facilities are very good, but if it is Friday and Saturday, you need to take a break from the nearby bar, there are people who revel in the night, and people who are more sensitive to noise are not friendly.

This is an exceptional hotel with a staff that goes above and beyond to make your stay special. We arrived to be greeted at the door with help with our luggage by Vicky. She gave us some highlights and sent us out to explore. Upon returning, our bags were on our room, and Sava helped us settle in. The breakfast was the best in Scotland. Everything was fresh and the table beautifully set. The service and food were expertly done. Seva helped us get a taxi and is an expert in her field. This was the best experience of our whole trip.

Located five minutes outside of Drumnadrochit, but the owner gave us excellent directions and we found it without a problem. You do need to drive to find somewhere to eat (and there’s very limited choice in the evenings), but the owners recommended the Loch Ness Inn which we dropped in to before arrival and the food and beer were excellent Warm friendly welcome by the lady of the house, showed us around and explained everything. Room was excellent – very spacious and all controlled by Amazon Echo (including the heating). View from our window was across Loch Meiklie and there were even binoculars in the room for a better view. Coffee / tea making facilities with an array of snacks to help ourselves to if we wanted. Bathroom was great with large walk in shower. Bed was large and very comfortable. Breakfast was continental only, but it was stunning. Wide range of pastries, cereal, fruit etc with a selection of cold meats and different cheeses – one of our favourite breakfasts of our two weeks in Scotland. The hosts Stu and his wife were first class – excellent conversation over breakfast Great value for money. Would definitely stay here again if we’re ever in this part of the country.

The BEST hotel I have ever stayed in, the service was second to none special mention to Tracy on reception and the concierge, they made our experience one to remember! We felt like vips, I actually couldn’t fault the hotel, and will be highly recommending my clients to book here, and I personally cannot wait to go back! @elsdestinations
Loch Ness Drumnadrochit Hotel

Best night sleep I had while in Scotland. Room was small, but clean, clean, clean! We were worried that the squeaky hallway would mean a noisy night if people walked by, but didn’t hear it all. I had had a pretty rough day, but the warm welcome we had from the gentleman at the front desk started a turn around in my day. He was helpful, gracious, and gave great advice about things to do and see. And in the evening, he helped me carry/run my late night snacks (cheese board and desserts) through the rain to my door. Not sure of his working hours, but he always seemed to be at the front desk! The ladies behind the bar at the upstairs restaurant were hilarious and worked really well with each other, as well as providing great customer service. Wi-fi was good. Electric showers had great water pressure and obviously, plenty of hot water. Comfy bed. Coffee and tea in room with cute novelty cups; and cups were a nice size (proper cupper in the morning). No lift and thicker carpet, so easier to carry cases than drag them. Plenty of parking in back. Close to most things at Loch Ness and only about 2 miles to Urquhart Castle.
