De Quinton Hotel

This is the most comfortable hotel I've stayed at in Ipoh. It's clean and hygienic, and the pillows are comfy. Kalau, who did the cleaning, and the front desk staff were also friendly. Most importantly, there are plenty of food options just downstairs, including famous chicken rice and Tuck Kee across the street. In the evening, you can enjoy Moonlight River (Yue Guan He). It's also close to Concubine Lane (Er Nai Xiang) and Choy Yue Dim Sum by car. The main thing is that it's clean and comfortable!

Excellent! A perfect 10/10 rating. Although the hotel is a converted shophouse, the service, ambiance, and cleanliness were surprisingly superb! The location is also very convenient, right in the city center, making it easy to grab bean sprout chicken or buy local specialties. It's about a 10-minute walk to 'Tong Sui Gai' (dessert street), and the coffee and food at the corner kopitiam behind the hotel are fantastic. The proprietress is very welcoming; she always greets guests from out of town warmly. Another thoughtful touch is that this type of hotel usually doesn't provide disposable slippers, but they do here – truly commendable! 🌟 I want to give special thanks and praise to the Chinese uncle and lady at the front desk; both were incredibly helpful and provided excellent service. The lady at the front desk was especially accommodating when I needed a late checkout; even though the hotel was fully booked, she managed to extend it for half an hour. She also gave very practical advice when I had a question about using my computer. While I was using my computer in the lobby, I overheard her patiently and enthusiastically assisting a guest from Indonesia, even carefully explaining parking regulations to the guest who wasn't familiar with local rules. This kind of service attitude is truly rare nowadays, and I hope she continues to maintain her passion! 😊 I will definitely stay here again next time I visit Ipoh, but I won't recommend it to my family and friends, otherwise, it will become even harder to book! 😝 Still, I wish them prosperous business! 😍

Terrible hotel, proceed with caution. We specifically booked a triple room for two just to have a window, but the room was still small and shabbily decorated. The most outrageous part was the extremely loud water pump noise that started before 9 AM, so deafening it lasted until we checked out after 11 AM. When we asked the front desk for an explanation, they said rooms wouldn't have water without the pump, that it happens every day because the repairman hasn't come yet. A simple 'sorry' was all we got, with no compensation, just leaving guests to suffer. Absolutely speechless. How dare they run a hotel with such facilities and service, charge high prices, and not even fear bad reviews? Where do they get such audacity? 😡

DeQuinton Hotel is a great hotel primarily catering to the Malaysian middle class, as well as Chinese and Singaporean tourists visiting Ipoh for its food. Personally, I really enjoyed everything: its proximity to the city center, which boasts the Taj Mahal-style train station and the Han Chin Pet Soo museum; the quality of service (two sachets of Ipoh white coffee, two bottles of water, two toothbrushes with toothpaste; and the cleanliness). It's perfectly suited for a one-night stay, maybe even two. However, if you prefer absolute quiet, don't expect it here: neighbors from other rooms might be shouting at 2 AM. 😂 By the way, I was the first Russian guest at DeQuinton Hotel in quite some time. 😄

The location is excellent, very close to Ipoh's main Old Town attractions. There are plenty of restaurants and beverage shops downstairs. The room was very clean and tidy. The front desk staff included a handsome and very enthusiastic uncle who reminded me of the celebrity Chen Daoming.
