(CNY stay with my 7mo baby) I'm sorry, but I originally intended to complain about the long queue for breakfast. However, I changed my mind after observing how friendly the waitresses were, even though they were very busy. Unfortunately, one disappointing encounter with the room service staff made me leave a negative review. When I called the room service and asked for help in freezing my ice pack so that I could store my breastmilk in the car when I travel back home, the staff member told me that there was a chiller in the room. I explained that the chiller couldn't freeze the ice pack, so I needed the hotel's assistance. To my surprise, the staff member asked me to pack the ice pack nicely and bring it down to reception. It was already 10:30 pm, and I was in my pajamas with my 7-month-old baby. I had to wake her up and carry the ice pack all the way down to reception. In addition to this negative experience, I also had to queue for breakfast with my baby on both days. I thought that they should open a hall if there weren't enough tables for the guests, but the waitresses were still friendly and welcoming, even though they didn't have a baby chair for the first 10 minutes. Despite this, I never thought of leaving a bad review. I was disappointed and saddened when I had to walk all the way down to reception at night with a baby, and I don't think that guests should have to do that.

Great place, the design of this hotel is very aesthetically pleasing. Hotel was very accommodating of the request for the special occasion. Location is convienent to get to most attractions or central places. Albeit minor cleanliness in terms of dust it isn't an issue at all. TV is slightly difficult to navigate and is not a smart TV so this is something to note. Overall is very worth the price point, highly recommended!

Clean and nice room. However, need to park on the shoulder of the road and basement parking is limited because it is shared with the UMNO building. Besides that, anyone who plans to find peace and to have a good rest shouldn’t check-in at this hotel. There’s construction going on behind the hotel starts as early as 7:30AM and ends as late as 10:00PM. The noise is very disturbing and annoying.

Superb, awesome👍🏻 thats the comment from our family of 7 pax- includes 3 elderly, felt throughout our stay in this hotel. The presidential suite is huge, it’s clean, tidy and well equipped as all 4 bedrooms are attached with toilets, also the kitchen. Especial thanks to the house keeping team has also done a marvelous job, not only cleaned the place daily but also have helped my brother to find his wallet. Plus point… it’s location is very convenient, surrounded by many eateries.

Hotel location is near to town. About a 5min grab. The hotel look nice with with rustic look and feel. The room is clean with a dyson(or a look and feel like Dyson) hairdryer. A little thing to take notes is that there is no convenient store in the vacinity and limited food option around the area. But is not a big issue with the cheap grab in ipoh provided that there is time.

We booked 2 deluxe rooms from the hotel website for 1 night. It cost only RM150/night. Located at Meru, nearby Jelapang (Ipoh North) a new township. Hotel is owned by the State Government. Pros: - Value for money - Adequate room space - Modern amenities & fittings in the room - Package include drive thru movie for guests - Night vibes outside : Roundabout - Still considered new & well maintained -Staff are attentive - Lot of parking space but shared with the convention centre. Please note the parking space are open. Cons: - Location - not in central Ipoh where all the vibes - 10-15 mins drive to town or Ipoh Garden /Bercham / Tambun - No facilities - swimming pool The room package comes with breakfast which you have to pre-select from the choices available.

Overall a wonderful experience at Kinta Riverfront. I booked 2 units of 3 bedroom apartment. The aircond in the master bedroom wasn't powerful enough to cool the entire room, we had to push the bed a little to the right so that the AC blows cool air directly at us. Cleaner only cleaned what can be seen, upon moving the bed by about an inch and a half, I was able to see how dusty the room actually is. There were ants at the pantry, no dishwashing liquid provided. We wanted to wash our cups to avoid ants, had to use the shower gel instead. Poor soundproofing, you can hear the upbeat music from coming from Kinta Riverwalk open space where they have perform fireshows at night. Our units were on level 17 and 18 respectively. On the second night, there were construction going on until 1am. We even saw sparks coming out from one of the balconies. Drilling and hammering sounds, no, not the spooky type. We complained to the receptionist around 9pm but the noise happened again between 11pm and 1am. You will have neighbours who have dogs that will bark at strangers. Parking was plenty and easy to access. Bellboy greeted us with welcome drinks. Receptionist was warm and friendly. Wished I had the chance to try their breakfast. Perhaps next time. Will definitely come again but request for higher floors.

Staying for 4 nights. Basement parking has a limited availablity. Room’s amenities (such as face towel, room selippers and laundry bag) weren’t replaced every day and have to request from the room services every time. My room’s WiFi access code only valid for 3 nights and when request for the new access code from the front desak counter, the staff I felt a bit rude.

I stayed at the Premier room (2 King beds). Everything looked okay at first, cleaned and spacious. Room was enough to fit 4 adults and 2 small kids at one time. But when i tried to use the tap and shower in the toilet, looks like the heater was not functioned. When i tried to use the standing shower, it got burst immediately and the tube spout connecting to the tap fell off. I had to use the shower near the bathtub instead. Then when my husband tried to use the electric kettle, boom, all power off due to power trip. We called up the reception and they sent a technician immediately, he was surprised to know that the wiring was not done correctly, and was not safe at all. Knowing that the wiring and shower work will take some time, and we couldn't be moved to another room due to unavailability. We had no choice but to leave the room because 1. my baby needs hot water for his milk, 2. we havent had dinner. We headed back to hotel right after dinner, and thank god they managed to complete all the work. Shower and wiring were fixed accordingly and the heater finally worked. Breakfast? The Chinese fried rice was very plain in taste. Even my 2 year old baby refused to eat it. Same goes to the rice porridge- tasteless. Fried meehoon was okay. I'd rather have a simple selection of tasty breakfast, rather than having a variety of food but tasteless. The only credits i would vie was to the front desk officer and technician. butI'm not recommending this hotel, avoid if you may.

Review: Tower Regency Hotel Good: The hotel was quite central and near Ipoh Parade (a large shopping mall). There were plenty of F&B options within walking distance too. The hotel receptionist suggested that we checked out the food trucks at Dataran Ipoh (about 5-8 min walk from our hotel). The food trucks serve local cuisine and has a nice street-food vibe and ambience. The buffet breakfast was not much, but it had some delicious food. Can be improved: There was no hotel porter to help with our luggage when we arrived. Apparently the hotel’s one and only porter had stepped out for a break. We had to carry our luggage from the car to the hotel lobby and then to our rooms ourselves. There’s no valet to park our car either. It’s an old hotel which may have its charms (reminds me of the 70s Malay movies I’ve watched), but it’s certainly due for a makeover. There were stains on the carpet and the walls needed a fresh coat of paint. The spray hose in our toilet leaked when we turned the tap on. We didn’t realise it at first, and it wet the floor. There was no iron and ironing board in our room, but there was one in the hall for common use. However, the iron’s markings were not visible anymore. We almost burnt our scarves while ironing because it was too hot. The bathroom towels were too thin on day 1, but they were thicker on the next day. There were no face towels or bedroom slippers either.

The room is huge and clean, we had almost the highest floor and get the best view. It took us 15-20 minutes to the Ipoh city, which that's not bad. And, other touristy places such as Tasik Cermin and Kek Look Teng Caves are only 5 minutes away drive from the hotel. The bed and pillow are comfy. The staff are nice and very welcoming. We stayed for two nights and we had a decent spread of breakfast. The menus changed daily. I loved the teh tarik served. Padu! The room lights are appropriate for romantic and relaxing ambience not good for doing work. Only one thing that needs improvement is there is not enough socket plug for charging phones/tablets/ironing. Cause only have one availble in the room, we need to take turns 😅. Definitely we will stayed at this place again.

One of the few decent places left to book for the peak Chinese New Year period in Ipoh, realized that I stayed here before many years ago. Because of the high occupancy, there were insufficient car park in front of the hotel and we had to park outside the hotel compound along the road. Before our stay, the hotel emailed to inform that their water heating system was undergoing maintenance and there would be no hot water during our stay. Great timing… at least they did offer to accept cancellation or change of date. As the weather was rather hot, we did manage to survive with cold showers. The hotel seemed well-maintained, except the corridors - those do need some brush up. The room was spacious, despite having an extra bed. Room was basic and no frills, but they do have daily housekeeping which is good, unlike some hotels that used the pandemic as a reason for not providing the same. Centrally located in downtown Ipoh, pretty much everywhere in town is just a short drive away. However, there are not much in terms of convenience store or eateries in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, so you’ll need transport or brave enough for a long-ish walk. Considering the peak season, this was still an acceptable stay.

Our stay at the Golden Roof was terrible. From the start, the check in took a lengthy amount of time even though no one else was waiting to be checked in. When arriving to our first room, there was a huge yellow stain on the bed. Upon complaining for over an hour, the manager finally offered us an upgrade. Unfortunately, the upgrade was actually a downgrade. Wallpaper falling off, dead bugs on the floor, broken window, drainage problems in the bathroom, other people’s hair all over floor and on the bed. I would highly suggest not to book this hotel and waste your money here. The rooms again were terrible, the couches in the lobby even had stains, the hallways smelt like smoke even though it was nonsmoking, and the staff were rude and not willing help correct the issues. Extremely disgusted and disappointed with this establishment!

The standard double room we had was very small with barely enough space on the floor for our bags. No wardrobe, just 3 hangers hanging over a counter. No drawers, just 2 side tables. No fridge but there was a safe. No coffee-making facilities but we were provided with 2 bottles of drinking water every day and there was a water dispenser near the lift for us to refill our bottles which was very appreciated. The room was clean and looked quite new. Comfortable bed. We like it that private parking is always available in the basement with a security guard (though he was absent from his post most of the time!) A lift is available in the basement to access the lobby and higher floors - we could only access our floor using our room access card - good security. A few restaurants and eateries nearby. Good for a short stay.

Z Hotel is a modern hotel. Formerly was J A Residence Hotel. Its located near CIQ within less than 10mins walk. Very accommodating and very cosy hotel with good JB straits & city view. Everything in the room was freshly good & new. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Z Hotel is just opposite the popular night market call Bazaar Karat which is well known among their locals and foreigners. Currently Z Hotel do not serve any breakfast but local eateries are easily found nearby and everywhere in JB central. I would highly recommend Z Hotel if u wish to stay in d central of JB and within walking distance to most places. Last but not least, no frets its value for money hotel. We will definitely return.

An Indian employee at the front desk does not wear masks, and other employees wear masks. Book a window room, but give me a windowless room. Successfully asked for a room change, but there is a used towel hung in the toilet with a window room, which is disgusting! Very unhygienic! Called to the front desk, the front desk sent the Indian employee who didn't wear a mask to ask me. He went straight into the toilet without a mask to take the towel and asked him why he didn't wear a mask. He said that he had a toothache! You should wear a mask even if you have a toothache! Not abiding by the SOP. So I dare to go out and worry about the new coronavirus, in case he gets infected! Because he sees different customers every day! After returning for more than two hours, I turned on the air conditioner, opened the windows, and opened the toilet exhaust fan. I hope to be safe. I will take a bath in another half an hour. Damn it, spend MYR130+ to suffer! The hotel is new and the rooms are also very new, but the toilets are actually unhygienic.

Why glorify these dark alleys which look like the neighborhood where Jack the Ripper lurk for his next victim? The ”hotel” is supposed to be ”designer hotel”. It's a prison. Period. Full of hazardous corners and dangerous pits. Pool was so heavily chlorinated that the water stung. Door handle came off, stupid latch on the outside of the room, multiple key card systems that could potentially kill if a fire breaks. I almost got stuck in the common bathroom because the latch refused to budge when I wanted to get out. Sink at the common area was greasy. The reception was almost impossible to find. Do not take your elderly family members or small children to this hotel. I booked it coz I had no choice at such a short notice. Not worth the money either. Seriously, MPI should re-inspect that place and take back the accommodation license. Look at the ”barrier” from the rooftop pool to the ground below. No banister. It's lower than my knee if I stand next to it. One wrong move, you'd plummet down. Steps made out of metal grating. No safety yellow stickers to differentiate the levels. Totally NOT safe! Never again!

After questioning 5 minutes, only the staff come out and open the door. In reception area, staff keep saying I didn’t book their hotel. After 20 minutes, only they find my booking in their computer. This is the staff mistake which she didn’t check my reservation properly, after this the staff didn’t say sorry about this. She just let me check in, then no even say sorry to me. So this is the way that This Hotel Staff treat their customer. Just like Their SOP is when see customer come 1st SOP = keep saying their customer no booking, 2nd SOP = let customer stand outside. 3rd SOP= let customer in but still say no booking. 4th SOP =After customer pissed off for being keep proofing they have booking, then only they find customer booking details in computer.

To the room: We have changed the hotel on the day of arrival and have not even sleeped there, the “match” is stone hard, the bed is very small for two people, the mosquito network is still too small to close it, You heard from the neighboring room every single noise and word, there were cages in the bathroom. For booking: The booking via the hotel website did not work because the payment could not be completed. We sent a mail and then had to transfer the amount in advance, with a transaction from a Swiss to a Malaysia account of course taking a few days. (Of course, it was our mistake to enter us at all.) Although the amount was entered in our account and the transaction was completed, the hotel has claimed until the end, The payment was not received from them and we had to pay cash again on the site. The transfer was to return them as soon as it arrived on the account. The contact on the site at the very sporadically occupied reception was through a young employee who spoke poorly English, the mail traffic with the manager, etc. But then the answer to mails was only sporadically. The money has not been transferred back to us so far.

Paloh, or palung, also means a depression in the ground that holds water, or a fishing hole to catch fish. It is believed that Paloh was also a boat dock in the past. Some other views hold that the Hakka were the founders of Paloh, and only later came the Cantonese. According to this theory, the origin of the name is a symbolic reference to the dams that were constructed along the Kinta River for fishing purposes. These dams were referred to as “Pa-Lo” in the Cantonese dialect and eventually the area became known as Paloh. Paloh today has of course become the heart of the city of Ipoh. In this old part of the city pre-war Shop Houses line the streets, with a predominantly Chinese character. “Sarang” is a malay word meaning nest, hence “Sarang Paloh” means “The Nest in Paloh”, evoking the image of the hotel as a place of rest for the weary traveller. Located on Jalan Sultan Iskandar (formerly Hugh Low Street), Sarang Paloh is located in pre-war two storey shop houses that originally were the premises of a Goldsmith and a Bank more than 90 years ago. The façade of one of the buildings still has the name of the Goldsmiths on its façade in English, Chinese and Malay (jawi script), with the stately bank building still has the name of Overseas-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited on its front. Across the road, Sarang Paloh has another shophouse of which the ground floor has been converted into a carpark. If you have a car, this is where you would park. Parking is complimentary, but you must exercise caution, turning right into the shophouse entrance as Jalan Sultan Iskandar is a pretty high traffic road, and the building inside is quite narrow, with the cars having to be parked bumper to bumper, in two rows. Exit is out through the back of the shophouse into a back lane. Do bear in mind that if the shophouse is full of cars, you may get boxed in by other parked cars and not able to exit! Fortunately this did not happen to us while we stayed here. Getting to the hotel means having to cross the busy road again on foot, with your luggage, from the car to the hotel. The main reception area was in the former Goldsmith’s building, and the entire front of the shop house is dedicated to the reception. To get in the front door, you will need your access card, or the staff inside will have to let you in, if you have yet to check in. The central part of shop house is a courtyard with a spiral staircase going upstairs to the 2nd floor, and in the back is a sort of pantry area with dining table. Why glorify these dark alleys which look like the neighborhood where Jack the Ripper lurk for his next victim? The ”hotel” is supposed to be ”designer hotel”. It's a prison. Period. Full of hazardous corners and dangerous pits. Pool was so heavily chlorinated that the water stung. Door handle came off, stupid latch on the outside of the room, multiple key card systems that could potentially kill if a fire breaks. I almost got stuck in the common bathroom because the latch refused to budge when I wanted to get out. Sink at the common area was greasy. The reception was almost impossible to find. Do not take your elderly family members or small children to this hotel. I booked it coz I had no choice at such a short notice. Not worth the money either. Seriously, MPI should re-inspect that place and take back the accommodation license. Look at the ”barrier” from the rooftop pool to the ground below. No banister. It's lower than my knee if I stand next to it. One wrong move, you'd plummet down. Steps made out of metal grating. No safety yellow stickers to differentiate the levels. Totally NOT safe! Never again!

We stayed here for only one night after coming down from Penang. It’s a small boutique hotel with basic amenities but very close to all tourist attractions. We checked in quite late at about 7pm, so the road to Jalan Bandar Timah was quite empty. The next morning, we were surprised because the road leading to everywhere was so jammed and all shops (coffee shops & restaurants) were so packed with people, long queues everywhere! Even though this is a small hotel, but it is very clean. Remember to bring your own toiletries as only shampoo and shower gel were provided in the room. Other than that, everything was good. Highly recommended for those love to walk around and learn about history of Perak.

went here on early Feb 2023. I thought it was just a normal shop lot/budget hotel. However when i step in the lobby, i got shock with the interior & ambience, feels like in a 4 star hotel. The housekeeping staff name Hidayah really did a great job for do some room tour with us. she show us a few room type and explained every details & facilites in the hotel. the reception (Indian guy, cant remember his name) was very polite & helpful upon check in. This hotel has a live band every evening, free parking area for guest (but have to walk a bit), a nice and cozy restaurant & a small gym. the bed & pillow was so cozy, it has aircond & fan too! They provided USB charger as well in the room. The shower room was spacious and very clean. i would love to recomended this hotel to all if you all want to have a trip at IPOH!

Great place, the design of this hotel is very aesthetically pleasing. Hotel was very accommodating of the request for the special occasion. Location is convienent to get to most attractions or central places. Albeit minor cleanliness in terms of dust it isn't an issue at all. TV is slightly difficult to navigate and is not a smart TV so this is something to note. Overall is very worth the price point, highly recommended!
