Pros
1. The terrace faces a forest. Listening to birds in the morning and frogs at night was genuinely delightful. It was also nice to see small geckos, which are commonly found during trips in Southeast Asia.
2. The beach is within a 10-minute walk. You need to pass through another property to get there; I am not sure if there is an alternative route.
3. The bedding and towels are made of pure cotton and feel healthy.
4. It is a great place to enjoy a calm and quiet atmosphere away from the busy downtown area. While it is not far from the city, the surroundings feel much more peaceful. I was told that the night sky is usually full of stars, but unfortunately the weather was cloudy during our two-night stay.
5. The high wooden ceiling creates a pleasant sense of openness and space, and the feel underfoot when walking barefoot was much nicer than on artificial tile or concrete.
6. The owner was kind and helpful. When we asked to borrow a knife to cut some fruit, he kindly offered to prepare it for us and served it neatly on a plate.
Point to improve
1. The property needs better maintenance and clearer communication. The cotton towels and bedding had an unpleasant odor, likely due to inadequate drying. Despite the booking platform stating that daily room cleaning was provided, no cleaning was done, and towel replacement required guests to exchange them themselves. If this policy is considered eco-friendly, it should be clearly stated in advance, as it is different from simply encouraging towel or linen reuse.
2. When we checked in around 3–4 p.m., there was no staff present. There was a sign indicating which room was prepared for us, and the key was left inside an unlocked room. While Japan is generally very safe, this raised security concerns for me, as anyone could have entered and accessed our room key.
3. Noise issues have already been mentioned by several other guests. The rooms are separated by just one wooden wall. Even though the neighboring room was occupied by our own group, the noise was noticeable. If it had been strangers, it would have been even more uncomfortable.
4. Breakfast was underwhelming by my standards. The Western-style breakfast on the first day was slightly better, though we had to pay additionally for coffee, while the Japanese-style breakfast on the second day felt particularly limited, without any fried fish and soup which I saw others' pictures. Although the owner made an effort to address the situation, the overall breakfast felt insufficient compared to those at more affordable accommodations. However, breakfast quality is subjective, so I encourage you to judge based on the attached photos.
