"I originally booked my stay at Danman Hotel hoping to take advantage of certain perks, so I was a bit disappointed when I arrived and found none of them available. However, I have to admit, the comfort of the room and the excellent location pulled me back from the brink of leaving a bad review! Shangri-La's cold is bone-chilling, but the underfloor heating in this hotel room was perfectly controlled. As soon as I walked in, it was wonderfully warm, completely banishing the high-altitude chill. The electric blanket was also a highlight: at night, the electric blanket on the bed was incredibly comfortable, heated up quickly, and wasn't drying. On a cold high-altitude night, snuggling into such a warm bed was pure bliss – an absolute savior for anyone sensitive to cold! The room was clean and tidy, and lying in bed, I felt warmth envelop my entire body. I didn't experience any altitude sickness and slept soundly. The location is absolutely fantastic! Stepping outside or going up to the rooftop, you get an unobstructed view of the Giant Buddha Temple at Guishan Park. During the day, you can watch the golden roof glisten in the sun, feeling the solemnity and sacredness of Shangri-La. At night, the temple is beautifully lit up, twinkling against the starry sky, creating an incredible ambiance. This 'view from your window' experience saved me from a lot of traveling around, and every photo I took looked amazing. My advice for future travelers: if you're booking for specific perks, I recommend confirming them with the owner beforehand to avoid disappointment, as I experienced. But if you're looking for a place with an unbeatable location, a warm room, and a friendly owner, Danman is definitely worth considering! In summary: This might not be the most luxurious place, but it's certainly the most heartwarming and welcoming. Thank you to the owner for your hospitality; you gave me a warm night in Shangri-La."

"Staying at this guesthouse in Dukezong Ancient Town felt like finding a home on the plateau. 🏔️ The evening winds in the ancient town were biting, but upon opening the door, the underfloor heating had already warmed the room to a cozy temperature. A set of warm tea utensils was laid out on the table, instantly comforting for someone who can't go long without tea. The local fruits the proprietress brought were sweet and juicy, unexpectedly soothing the slight discomfort of first arriving at high altitude 🍊. My favorite feature was the room's window view—looking up, you could quietly gaze upon the ancient prayer wheels and the majestic Giant Buddha Temple. Time here, it seemed, also slowed down to the rhythm of the prayer wheels. The guesthouse's aesthetic was perfectly to my taste. The combination of raw wood and rough textures exuded a rustic yet sophisticated feel, expanding both my vision and my state of mind. Staying for three nights, these were the deepest and most peaceful sleeps I had in Shangri-La, thanks in no small part to the diffused oxygen by the bed and the thoughtful selection of firm and soft pillows. But even more touching than the scenery were the people here: ▫️ No matter how cold it was, the owner was always punctual, picking us up and dropping us off in his Toyota minivan at the parking lot. One day, we had a scary encounter with a yak, and he didn't feel at ease until he saw us safely away 🚙. ▫️ I felt a bit carsick after returning from Pudacuo, and the proprietress quietly sliced a plate of fruit and brought it to my room. The next day, the owner thoughtfully took us to a chieftain's banquet, where I met 'Shangri-La's Song Hye-kyo' and danced with everyone at the bonfire party. In that moment, I cried. ▫️ Every detail showed a quiet thoughtfulness, as if being cared for by an old friend. Such a hidden gem of a guesthouse, yet rarely heavily promoted in travel guides. "Facilities: We stayed in a private hot spring suite this time and were very satisfied. The room's floor heating and air conditioning kept it nice and warm. Hygiene: The hygiene was excellent. The hotel even provided disposable bath towels, fully stocked. Environment: The location is great; you can walk to explore Dukezong Ancient Town. Service: The service is the highlight! We informed the hotel in advance, and they sent a car to pick us up. Since we stayed two nights in a suite, the hotel even reimbursed our taxi fare to the high-speed rail station when we left! The front desk lady and Zaxi, the night shift gentleman, had excellent service attitudes – seriously top-notch! For the hot tub, all you had to do was message the front desk on WeChat, and they'd fill it for you, so you could enjoy a comfortable bath as soon as you returned to the hotel. The hotel also offered afternoon tea drinks and goodnight milk. Overall, this stay was very satisfying, and the value for money was high. Satisfied, satisfied! Beyond satisfied!"

"I was traveling in Yunnan for almost 10 days and spent nights in at least five different home stays, and this was definitely the best experience I had and one of the best home stay experiences I have ever had! From the moment I arrived, the owner made everything so easy and convenient for me. My room was on the third floor but she helped me carry my luggage all the way up. In the afternoon she drove me to Napa Lake herself and picked me up after I was finished. The next day I had a hard time getting a Didi ride to the train station and her husband kindly drove me over and dropped me off 🥹 So please schedule your departure way in advance! I wanted specifically to be away from crowds and noise, so the location was perfect for me, though if you want to go to Dukezong Ancient Town, it’s only a 15-minute Didi ride. I had very delicious lunch and breakfast that the owner herself cooked. I don’t speak much Chinese, but the owner and I communicated through WeChat and she was always very prompt in replying. And the room, of course, is incredibly gorgeous and clean. But be careful with the steps going in and out of your room because the doorway is partly covered with a curtain. I wish I could have stayed for one more night! I love Yunnan and will definitely come back here the next time I’m in Shangri-La. Thank you for having me and for such a wonderful experience!"

"I was so lucky to book this hotel for my Shangri-La trip. We arrived quite late, and the owner literally got out of bed to welcome us! The location is about 1km in a straight line from Dukezong Ancient City, and a taxi ride costs around ¥8. This hotel is super clean, I think it's newly built this year. The rooms have smart toilets and Xiao Du voice assistants. The owner is very warm and welcoming. I forgot to take a picture of the bathroom, but it's very clean with a separate wet and dry area!"

The entire guesthouse, from the lobby to the rooms, is impeccably clean. The facilities are brand new, beautifully designed, and stylish – you'll find picture-perfect spots everywhere to snap photos for your social media. Each room is equipped with an oxygen concentrator, so those concerned about altitude sickness can book with complete peace of mind. A little oxygen at night can really help prevent headaches. The bathrooms are fully stocked with disposable toiletries, and the hot water is instant with excellent pressure – perfect for a refreshing shower after a long day of exploring. They even offer self-service laundry facilities, which is a huge convenience. While the facilities are indeed top-notch, truly living up to its 'zero negative reviews' reputation, what truly sets this guesthouse apart are the incredible hosts, the owner and his wife. Even if you haven't planned your itinerary, fear not – the landlady will meticulously arrange everything for you. She's not only an amazing cook, providing delicious meals from morning till night, but she even prepares sunflower seeds for you to feed the local squirrels! She also offers excellent recommendations for unique local restaurants, leaving you spoiled for choice. Tashi, the guesthouse's affiliated driver, was equally fantastic. He effortlessly hauled our two heavy suitcases, even at this altitude, and happily sped off, haha! All transportation costs are transparently priced with no hidden fees, so you can absolutely trust them. I really hit it off with the landlady; our conversations were always delightful. She's truly as beautiful as she is kind-hearted. Thanks to her comprehensive support, my Shangri-La trip was exceptionally smooth. My only minor regret is that I didn't get to witness the 'Golden Mountain in the Sun' this time around – but that just gives me a perfect excuse to visit again! To anyone reading this review, I wholeheartedly recommend booking this guesthouse. It's genuinely fantastic, and I'll eat my hat if I'm wrong! ^++++^"

"Service: The service was incredibly thoughtful. On a drizzly day, the butler personally greeted us, helped with our luggage, and even drove us to a restaurant outside the ancient city. It's clear they pour their heart into running this establishment! Environment: Located within the ancient city, our room featured floor-to-ceiling windows and a charming, small courtyard. We could even enjoy a foot bath in the room, and the bedding was exceptionally comfortable. It was wonderfully quiet at night, offering a peaceful retreat right in the heart of things. Amenities: They thoughtfully provided mosquito repellent and oxygen tanks, which was very convenient. What's more, it's a pet-friendly place, which was a huge bonus! 👍 Seriously, book without hesitation – you absolutely won't regret your stay!"

"Five-star recommendation! This Tibetan-style homestay, which I recommended online, feels like I have traveled into another world from the moment I step into the gate! The boss is a native *******. The room design retains the traditional ******* elements - hand-carved wooden beams and columns, wooden floors, colorful paintings, and cleverly incorporates modern facilities such as floor heating and smart toilets. It is very comfortable to sleep at an altitude of 3,000 meters! The family room is spacious and divided into two separate rooms, each with its own door, providing great privacy. The breakfast at the B&B is also very delicious, with yak milk and barley cakes, which are very authentic. The owner warmly entertained us with her snacks, which made us feel at home. The location of the homestay is also excellent. It takes 10 minutes by taxi to Songzanlin Temple and 15 minutes by taxi to Dukezong Ancient Town. I received a gift from my boss when I left. Now looking at the beautiful photos on my phone, I have already started planning to stay longer next time! It is highly recommended to friends who want to deeply experience ******* culture. This is not a hotel, but your home on the plateau."
