Shin Shin Hotel Jeju City

The mattress was so worn out that I could feel all the springs. When I went for breakfast, I was horrified to see the strawberry jam in a large communal bowl. Wasn't strawberry jam supposed to be served in individual packets that you squeeze out yourself? There wasn't even a built-in wardrobe in the room, and no basic notepads or pens. I wondered if this was even a hotel. The best part of my stay was leaving the hotel, and I dreaded coming back. This is by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

The room was small and the hygiene was mediocre, or rather, poor. But what was even worse was the service attitude. I strongly suspect they are unfriendly towards Chinese people. Check-out is strictly before 11 AM and check-in is at 3 PM, not a minute later or earlier. This time, due to limited availability, we had to book day by day. As a result, we had to check out at 11 AM every day, store our luggage, and then check in again at 3 PM. We even tried to pay an extra fee to avoid the hassle, but were told it was impossible. Overall, it was a terrible experience.

I had some trouble with my previous guesthouse, so I quickly found and moved to this place. The swimming pool is big, and the water is lukewarm, which was great for the kids. I think a room on the first floor would be amazing as it connects directly to the pool. I was on the second floor, which was a bit of a shame. You can't take the room towels to the pool, but you can rent beach towels. The room itself... well, it's a bit disappointing, but it's not uncomfortable to use. The washing machine and dryer fees were a bit expensive, but the washing machine seemed well-maintained; there was no mold on the gasket.

The hotel's listing on Ctrip stated they offered Chinese and English-speaking front desk services, but in reality, the front desk staff spoke neither English nor Chinese, making communication impossible. The front desk attitude was quite unenthusiastic. Check-out is strictly at 11 AM, and they will constantly remind you; exceeding this time incurs an extra charge. Guests extending their stay won't be hounded, but they will be woken up by a wake-up call. The hairdryer in the room had very weak airflow, and the air conditioning was broken – it didn't do anything when turned on. The environment itself was decent, but the hotel's location isn't searchable on maps; you can only find it by opening the map through the booking platform.

The hotel's condition was really bad. The mattress was completely worn out, making it very noisy and uncomfortable. The furniture laminate was peeling off everywhere, and the bottled water in the fridge was frozen solid. Just awful.
