Astar Hotel

The room and the hotel's location are decent; it's less than 2 km to Qixing Street and about 3 km to Baojian Road. My only real complaint is about breakfast. I went to eat around 9:10 AM, and breakfast was supposed to be served until 9:30 AM. I asked if they could refill the mackerel. A female server told me to wait 3 to 4 minutes. When I went back, there were other foods, but no mackerel. When I asked about the fish again, she implied it was finished. The server seemed to be Indian or from another country, not Korean, which might have led to a communication barrier, but I wasn't happy with that. I saw a whole tray of mackerel in the kitchen, so from my perspective, it felt like they simply didn't want to bother frying more. For a service industry, I believe they should be able to fulfill such a request before 9:30 AM, but they were unwilling to do so. This point was very disappointing.

The room was clean and tidy, and housekeeping cleaned it every day. The staff were friendly and welcoming. It was an absolutely great stay.

Overall, I was satisfied, except for the first day when a rather cold but pretty front desk staff member insisted on a 2 PM check-in. We had to contact Trip.com for help, but all the other staff members were nice. This hotel is also surrounded by local Koreans, and the nearby restaurants are quite authentic. I would consider staying there again next time I visit.

The room was very spacious and comfortable. The decor was also nice. We were assigned a room on the 10th and top floor. You can order takeout to eat in the room, but you'll need to contact the front desk to help dispose of the food waste, which they were friendly enough to assist with. I tried calling the front desk once, but they only spoke Korean. However, going downstairs and using a translation app face-to-face solved the problem.

Service: Arrived at 12 AM Korea time, and the front desk gentleman spoke excellent Chinese, which made communication very easy. The hotel hallway was wide and smelled lovely. Even though it was fully booked, it was very quiet for sleeping, so the soundproofing seems good. Cleanliness: Housekeeping cleaned daily. There were no disposable toothbrushes, so you'll need to bring your own. The leather slippers weren't disposable either, so I'd recommend bringing your own slippers. Facilities: There's a kettle and a mini-fridge, with mineral water replenished daily. There are two Chinese-style power outlets, but the bedside outlets are Korean, so it's more convenient to bring your own adapter if you need one. Surroundings: The CU downstairs is open from 6:30 AM to 11 PM, but there's a 24-hour CU just 150 meters away. There are also 24-hour pollock soup and pork bone soup restaurants nearby. Compose Coffee is across the street. Overall, it's great, the streets are quiet, and it's easy to catch a taxi.

The hotel is great, clean, with warm service, and a convenient location.

I gave the facilities one star, and that one star is specifically for the hairdryer 🤣. I'd estimate that hairdryer cost about 20 CNY. Everything else was pretty standard.
