The hotel itself is nice, with spacious rooms and a great waterfront location right next to the PATH station. However, keep in mind that it’s in Jersey City, not NYC, so you’ll need to pay separately for the PATH every time you travel to and from Manhattan.
Unfortunately, the service was very disappointing. My first room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and was nothing like what I had requested. They eventually moved me, but the staff generally felt unfriendly and unaccommodating.
I was also surprised that they refused to store my luggage for a few days while I was traveling, even though I had another reservation at the same hotel upon my return. When I asked for help finding a reliable alternative, the staff were completely unhelpful.
Finally, on two of my four nights, guests in nearby rooms were extremely loud from around 2:30–6:00 a.m. I had to call reception both times and ask security to intervene. Better soundproofing would definitely help.
Overall, the room and location were good, but the service and lack of flexibility made the stay much more frustrating than I expected from a Hyatt.
