I have to highlight this B&B in Shaxi. It was unexpectedly amazing. 1. When we first entered the village, we wandered around in circles, feeling disappointed and apprehensive. We just wanted to find a quiet place, a rural home away from home. Looking around, we couldn't find anything like the B&B that looked so high-end in the photos, both in terms of scenery and amenities. I dubiously found the sign. 2. Even after arriving, we followed the owner into the room, not taking our luggage, thinking we'd find another place if it was too secluded. (Actually, the place was completely booked at that time, but everyone had gone out for the day. There was even a small sign at the front desk saying "No Noise Required." That was exactly what we were thinking.) 3. But once we entered, we found ourselves in a truly secluded paradise. The disappointment we'd felt was matched by the delights we'd experienced. The environment, decor, facilities, cleanliness, and every other aspect were truly exceptional. 4. The B&B is located at the highest point at the back of the village. The courtyard is very spacious, and the front and back yards are elegantly decorated in the traditional Bai courtyard style. The house is made of solid wood, equipped with smart appliances, and every window offers a view. Furthermore, the B&B is right under the highway, but it's not noisy at all, in fact, extremely quiet. From the doorstep, there's another flat, straight cement road that crosses the vast rice paddies. It's a ten-minute e-bike ride to the ancient town. E-bikes and transfers to the ancient town are free. 5. So, there it was, a wonderful first bike trip. It was dark when we returned that evening, but riding through the vast rice paddies, the lights of houses dotted in the distance, the occasional croaking of frogs and insects, the streetlights lit every few meters, and a cool breeze. We chatted and rode slowly, feeling incredibly comfortable. This was the best experience I've had in the past few days. 6. The food at the B&B was also excellent. The breakfast, as shown in the picture, was refreshing and delicious. Dinner was complimentary, and it was absolutely perfect. The hostess warmly invited us back for dinner, saying it was delicious. As she said, the tomatoes in Shangri-La are truly worthy of the name, both in texture and flavor! The owner also slaughtered the chicken fresh at noon, raising it on site. The meat was fragrant, and the broth was incredibly delicious. After days of eating out, this authentic home-cooked meal truly warmed our stomachs and hearts. It's rare to hear a boss describe their food this way. Just how delicious is it? Yes, it truly is. 7. It rained the entire morning, so I didn't dare ride my electric scooter. The owner's brother and sister were always available to pick me up and take me to nearby attractions. If I initially considered staying outside the ancient town a minor inconvenience, I've completely resigned myself to that. 8. The trip is always filled with unexpected delights. My children said they'd like to stay here again for a few days or even longer. For young people who prefer modern urban living, this is the highest praise. 9. The owner's sister is a native of Shaxi, and the brother is from Lijiang. They are warm, straightforward, and down-to-earth, completely subverting my impression of a traditional middle-aged ethnic minority couple. 10. Shaxi Xishang Yanyu B&B. The highlight of this summer's trip was our three days and two nights at the inn. Brother Yang and Sister Li provided us with the most relaxing holiday. Every detail of the inn exuded the care and attention to detail of the owners, allowing us to completely relax. Teacher Wu's guided tour of Shibao Mountain was so engaging and engaging that we couldn't get enough of it even after half a day. There's really no need to visit Shaxi Ancient Town; we'll just spend some quiet time here. I hope Brother Yang and Sister Li's business prospers, and we'll see you soon! 🌹
