SHIROYAMA HOTEL kagoshima

I booked this hotel for its onsen (hot spring) with Sakurajima views. The hotel's setting is fantastic, perched halfway up the mountain, right next to Shiroyama Observatory, offering panoramic views of Kagoshima city and Sakurajima. I was satisfied with the hotel's facilities and the onsen service. However, the room we were assigned had its window completely blocked by two high walls, leaving only a tiny sliver of sky visible if you looked up. My daughter jokingly asked, 'Mom, are we staying in a 'prison' view room?' I reported the issue to Trip.com, and the hotel called to offer a room change. Since we were only staying one night and our main goal was the onsen, changing rooms would have meant repacking our luggage, which I decided to avoid. So, I chose to stay in the original room. Upon checkout, the hotel's Chinese staff member specifically explained that Japanese people don't mind corner rooms as they are often larger (which was true). I hope the hotel assigned me this room not out of unfriendliness, but as a normal room allocation, or even out of good intentions.

As Kagoshima's most famous hotel, it certainly lives up to its reputation. I was mainly swayed by the food recommendations; they have a great selection of beers and plenty of restaurants, all at reasonable prices.

I booked a windowless single room, and it's a really great deal if the price is right. The hotel's shuttle bus is very convenient. I recommend having dinner before heading up the mountain to check in. There's a Family Mart. The hot spring is absolutely amazing; I used it both in the evening and in the morning, it was fantastic.

This is one of the most luxurious hotels I've ever stayed in! The facilities are excellent, and my trip to Kagoshima was made even better by booking the Shiroyama Hotel. Everything went smoothly from check-in, and the 4th-floor observation deck offers the best view of Sakurajima in all of Kagoshima.

The hotel is pretty good. They offer a dedicated shuttle bus and the large public bath has excellent water quality. Parking costs ¥1300 per night. While breakfast is extensive, it's not really worth the price.

This was my first trip to Kagoshima, Kyushu, and your hotel's setting was absolutely stunning, offering distant views of Sakurajima volcano. The hot springs within the hotel also have excellent water quality, especially the open-air bath where you can gaze at Sakurajima. If the weather is good, you can even catch the sunrise around 5:30 AM, truly experiencing the majestic power of nature! The hotel's buffet breakfast lived up to its reputation and was definitely worth the price! Plus, there's a free shuttle bus service daily from Kagoshima-Chuo Station to the hotel. All in all, it's a high-quality hotel well worth staying at for anyone visiting Kagoshima.

Upon check-in, the front desk recommended an upgrade to a Sakurajima view room, which I found to be well worth it. The room faced Sakurajima directly, so I could see it right from my bed – the view was absolutely stunning! Overall, the hotel was excellent, with fantastic service and a superb breakfast. Highly recommend!
