Grecotel Filoxenia

We stayed two nights at the Grecotel Filoxenia and were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade. The hotel grounds are beautiful, with well-kept gardens and tall palm trees giving an exotic atmosphere. The pools are stunning and impeccably maintained, as are the beach facilities — everything very functional and well cared for. The exterior is truly impressive, but the interior feels rather generic, like an international hotel you could find anywhere. Our room, though clearly recently renovated, was not very large (even with the upgrade), and the bathroom was extremely small. On the positive side, we enjoyed a veranda overlooking the garden. The rooms are not well soundproofed, which can be an issue. We were also surprised to find a bathrobe with a very worn sleeve — not what you would expect in a hotel of this category. Breakfast was abundant, with plenty of choice. For lunch, however, I had a salad that seemed straight out of a supermarket bag. Overall: a spectacular setting, beautiful and efficient, with excellent outdoor spaces, though the interiors and attention to detail felt a little disappointing.

Spent a week here in October with my family. The hotel was absolutely beautiful- the renovation was great. Our room was spacious and lovely. The swimming pools were also great. We were able to swim every day. The beach is very pebbly as other people have described. But if you wear sandals in or water shoes it’s fine. The location is beautiful as well and perfect for exploring the area The food was delicious and varied. The hotel staff were lovely, quick, and always helpful. Not having an all inclusive option makes it more challenging with family. But the half board option worked. Definitely a great hotel and would highly recommend a visit

This is a lovely hotel on the edge of Kalamata. Refurbishment has been done very well and staff went out of their way to help. Pool and gardens are lovely as photos suggest. Some great restaurants in the town which is easy to reach.

We stayed at the hotel as a couple for 7 nights in September and absolutely loved it. The weather was perfect. Our deluxe veranda room was spacious with a large bathroom that had both a separate shower and bath, plus a double sink. Everything was spotless. There is a small fridge in the room to store drinks. The veranda was a lovely place to sit in the evenings with views across the resort. There are lots of room types available, so it’s worth checking them out to find the one that fits your needs. The hotel sits on a pebbled beach. We brought beach shoes, so it wasn’t an issue walking into the sea, and the sea was beautifully clear. The sea felt refreshing at first, calm in the mornings, and a bit wavier in the afternoons. The staff really made our stay; there were all so friendly. Reception was always helpful, especially with arranging taxis, and the pool and restaurant teams were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast had a wide choice of hot and cold dishes. The food could have been a little hotter, but the variety was great, and there was fresh orange juice. We mostly ate out in the evenings (see my other reviews), and the location was ideal with buses and taxis readily available to get into Kalamata. Overall, we couldn’t fault the resort; we had such a lovely time and would love to go back!

Stayed for one night with a small group tour of 14 and our guide . Check in was time consuming as they needed passport details . All the other hotels on our trip had been provided with these in advance. We had requested a walk in shower , which was lovely. Kindly they had also given us a ground floor room & a complimentary bottle of wine . A lovely gesture. Our room was really modern & comfortable, as was the rest of the hotel. We asked for some pool towels but these never arrived . Possibly the lady had just finished her day and was heading home . Dinner was lovely, a really nice buffet with some great Greek dishes and the only time I saw taramasalata in 12 days !!! We ate breakfast on the terrace , again a great choice of dishes . Drinks & wine were a very reasonable price for a hotel . A most enjoyable stay . Somehow we forgot to empty our safe , we had passports, cards etc with us , so an iPad , cash, jewellery , spare sunglasses were left behind. We have had the same safe on a cruise ship , so we’re familiar with it . I really need to commend the staff who went above & beyond to get our items returned to us ( at our cost ) to our last destination in Athens before we returned home . Thank You so much .

It was an amazing experience and we enjoyed the hospitality and the best service of all employees!! Very tasteful meals, nice coffee and beverages!

We stayed at Grecotel Filoxenia for 7 nights in September and we can say that it was an extremely successful holiday. The hotel is located in a more secluded and very quiet area of Kalamata, and is very clean and well maintained with access to the private beach. I made the reservation directly with Grecotel and as such I benefited from a transfer to the airport. Also at check-in I was informed that I received a suite instead of the room I had booked. It was wow. Very nice staff everywhere, reception, restaurant, cleaning, pool, beach, all very hardworking. We recommend this hotel to everyone! Thank you for lovely memories!
