My husband and I and our 2 little girls aged 2 and 4, arrived and got put in room near waste land in the no 600s. Sparse room but looked okay, until the ants nests, cob webs, spiders started up. Under beds unclean. Sockets out of wall, loose wires. Outside bit of land at back to sit out with other guest staying there with the floor covered in Ants. Restaurant like a work canteen, not enough staff, cutlery, plates, food was limited, with no order. Meals times are a mad dash, watching people clean their own tables, water and drinks would always run out, you’d have to ask for everything. Food not labelled at start of the week! There’s only 1 bar for the whole place through the day (more of a shack) that can’t keep up with demand. Also far from the other parts of the hotel, all drinks served in disposable plastic cups, was asked to bring them back to save them money! It was almost impossible to keep going back when you’re carrying plastic cups for more than a 5 minute walk. I used a reusable cup I had bought with me, I was told this wasn’t allowed as it was more beer in one cup. The walk ways and restaurant constantly covered in wasps, so meal times were impossible, needing to move as many landed on plates of food. After feeling so disappointed by it all, I sent an email of complaint. Met with the general manager, who presented initially as aggressive and attempted to blame my husband for some spilt milk at the coffee machine, said he’d report him to the owner as he had it on CCTV! This response caught us by surprise. He later did however offer us a move and upgrade of room after seeing the videos I presented of ant-infestations. He also denied there ever being any complaints, when I referred to trip advisor and other reviews. Said there was 3 Nicholas who worked there! Haha. Of course. The room was much much better, thank you for that. Turned a very bad start around, however we could not move past all the other issues. We ate out every night, bought all our drinks from the shops, the alcohol there was difficult to get hold of, and it was either gone off, watered down or just awful. Highlights, 2 female staff at restaurant, Hella (lovely lady) and another lady who cleaned tables and always said hello. Oh and the hairdryers were very powerful! The location is also ideal for access to the centre and surrounding areas. Other than that, the upgraded family room was very good.. but this hotel overall is not a 4 star in terms of everything. We met other families there who had the same views as us. It could be amazing but there needs to be a real investment into the all inclusive offer and the running of the restaurant and staffing levels need improving. We love Rhodes and stayed in many 4 star hotels, we like a change, but we definitely won’t be returning. Please read all reviews for this hotel before deciding to book. Oh and Nicolas, we wish you well on your future travels!
