The Elena Village Hotel is a perfect spot for island exploration. Breakfast is plentiful and caters for all. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms all have a sea view with the Studios well equipped and comfortable that are cleaned every day. A funicular lift takes you to the upper floors and is a joy. The island being a climbing paradise means there is a fantastic mix of all nationalities at the hotel. Free strong signal wifi throughout. The hotel is indeed constructed in the style of a mountain village (think Lindos). It is a short stroll down the road to the village that has an abundance of restaurants and the local beach along the main road in and out. Highly recommended.

I booked the Elena Village for a number of reasons. Based upon previous reviews and the hotel's information, I believed it would be perfect to spend our 30th wedding anniversary, it appeared ideal for a disabled person, and as my wife has Coeliac disease it guaranteed Gluten free food. We booked a Superior suite with modern facilities and emailed the hotel well in advance to make them fully aware of the problems my wife had. They confirmed receiving our email. We arrived at 2.30am and were met by the night porter, who took us to the funicular lift and told us the room was on the 5th floor, leaving me to manage two suitcases and two items of hand luggage on my own, as my wife has mobility issues. The room was quite a distance from the lift, involving long corridors and 3 separate flights of stairs. We were allocated a suite with a private pool, which was not the superior suite we had booked. We were to learn later that the only reason we were allocated the room with a pool was because the hotel had double booked our superior suite. We decided to have a meal at the hotel on the first night, and ordered stifado. It was the only night we ate there. It was dreadful. We spoke to other guests who’d had the same experience and wouldn’t eat there again. Two days later we were told that we would have to move rooms on the 11th Sept. We were shocked. Reception said that the Night Porter should have told us. I told them that if we had known this, we would have refused the room. This was the actual date of our Anniversary and I told them this would spoil our special day. I asked them if we could move immediately or the day before our Anniversary. They initially agreed, but later put a note under our door to state that it was not possible. That was when we realised they had double booked. Later they said we could remain in the room until the day AFTER our Anniversary (superior suite still not ready). I told them we had booked a tour with the rep on that day. They said they would move our belongings for us, as we had to be out of the room. So we had to pack our clothes, fridge items, dry foods, Medication, etc on our Anniversary day. We both felt so let down. Returning from our day trip we asked reception if we’d been moved? She pointed to two cases and asked if they were ours? We said no. She said in that case, we had been moved. We had to unpack everything in our new room, which was over a shop on the main road. Road noise at night was awful. In my humble opinion, this was not a superior suite. The bathroom hand basin was OUTSIDE the bathroom, overlooking the kitchen. Not ideal planning. The coffee percolator hadn’t been cleaned for weeks and was full of mould. We brought this to the attention of the manager and the following day the cleaning staff approached us, telling us that management had phoned her at home and ripped into them. We then had to complain about the two ring hotplate, as the cable had been burnt through exposing the wires. The cleaner changed

Having spent my 50th birthday here last year and having such an amazing time, we decided to return again this year. We were made to feel very welcome again and settled in to our room on the 3rd level. I’ll never get tired of seeing the island of Telendos bathed in evening sunshine and seeing the sunset. You get to enjoy this beautiful sight every day. The rooms have everything you need and bedding and towels changed frequently. It has a lovely kitchenette, ideal for making coffee, snacks etc if you don’t want to eat out and just want to soak up the view from the balcony. The pool was never crowded and the staff at the pool side bar were always cheerful and happy to bring drinks and snacks over. If you choose to eat at the hotel, the food is amazing. The hotel is situated a good 10 mins walk from the centre of the ‘town’. This can be a bit hazardous after dark as it is a fairly busy road with scooters, hire cars etc and the road is unlit. My advice, take a little pocket torch or use your phone. We did hear the odd person moaning (as they do) about a lack of nightlife…. This is Kalymnos not Kos, It doesn’t pretend to be anything other than a quiet island that is a Mecca for climbers or people who want relaxation. There are tavernas and snack bars a plenty in the town. The hotel has a moped/car hire place next door and a little mini market. It is a fantastic base from which to explore this great island and a fantastic place to return to after visiting its many pebbled beaches and quiet coves. You will be made to feel welcome by the hotel staff, who work hard for you from May to October. Yes you may get the odd leak, smell or rogue hair on your floor. If you tell them, they will sort it. Simples ! I can only give you our honest appraisal of this lovely hotel and fabulous island. It may be at odds with others but I feel that you will enjoy it. Thank you to all the incredible staff that worked so hard to make our stay brilliant. Michael, Faneria, Eleni, Costas and all those I have forgotten. We’ll be back.

We have just returned from a 10 day holiday in this hotel. Firstly I want to point out that the walk into the square in Massouri takes a lot longer than 10-15mins and it is quite misleading on details on the Jet2 site, both me and my partner are not unfit but found it quite a trek so luckily outside the hotel is a bus stop and for 1euro takes you up to the square we used this most nights to go up and walked back as it was downhill The hotel was ok the reception area and pool area were well kept and the young staff working in this area were always lovely and had smiles on their faces. Unfortunately our room had a number of problems it was just the main classic room (we had no option to upgrade at booking). On our first night the bathroom was flooded after a shower and water flees were running all over our toiletries and towels this had to be sorted the second morning. We had to wipe down our fridge as there were marks on the handles and dried food on the door we also had to wipe down the tables and worktops as these hadn’t been cleaned also. The shower was only useable if hand held and the hose also had to be replaced during our stay. We had clean towels every day but our bed linen was only changed once during the 10 nights which I would expect more especially in the high temperatures. Breakfast gave you a good choice although most of the time by 9.45 the hot selection was only Luke warm. On our last morning we asked for the scrambled eggs to be topped up which were taken out of a microwave nearly cold we couldn’t eat them. There is just one small toaster for all the accommodations and 9 times out of 10 there was a queue so again not ideal. Wish we could have had a premium room as by all accounts these are so much better so my advise to anyone going here pay the extra. The views from all rooms are spectacular with views over Telendos which is also worth visiting on the ferry for 3 euros there are some quite beaches here and lovely to watch the sun go down All in all we had a lovely holiday and met a fab group of people and had lots of laughs we just felt there were some areas that could be improved

Just returned from a wonderful two week break at the Elena Village. The hotel is set about a 10 to 15 minute gentle walk outside of Massouri and has the most stunning views across to Telendos - some of the best I have seen after many years of visiting different Greek Islands! The hotel itself is tidy, with the cleaning team doing a fabulous job keeping everything spotless across the whole hotel - rooms are cleaned daily with bed linen and towels changed atleast every other day. Breakfast was always cooked fresh by the wonderful Maria and her team, with a great selection of hot and cold items as you would expect from a buffet style breakfast - the scrambled eggs were amazing😁!! We were lucky enough to have stayed in a room with its own pool with equally amazing views across the bay and up to the mountains in the opposite direction - it was fascinating to be able to watch the climbers scale vertical cliff faces and try to work their way up and across the cave faces…. Not to mention the goats that walk in the mountainous shrub land beside the hotel! The pool itself was kept clean by a polite gentleman who visited every couple of days to check chlorine levels and hoover up any debris from the bottom of the pool that had blown in! The room was lovely aswell - well kept, comfortable and spacious, even for a family of 4 in a one bedroom apartment. The balcony was massive with extraordinary views across the bay. The bathroom was typically Greek but well laid out. The floor drain was blocked the first day we arrived, however Eva on reception organised for this to be resolved within an hour or two and we had no further problems for the entire stay! Eva also organised a wonderful cake for my daughters birthday, speaking with the bakery and organising transportation to get exactly what we wanted when we wanted it - thank you! The main pool was in keeping with the rest of the hotel - well kept, clean and tidy. The pool was big with a gentle slope down to the deeper end of the pool, which was still relatively shallow. Even on the busier days there were enough sun beds to go round, and we never had a problem finding somewhere even in the height of August! Lastly, and definitely not least, were the serving and bar staff that were there in the afternoon and evening - what a team! Attentive, courteous and hardworking, even in the hot afternoon sun. The food is cooked fresh by a lovely lady (Maria’s mum!) in what appears to be a small kitchen behind the bar. The food, although a little limited on selection, is delicious - we ate there most days for lunch, with the Mermezeli and Elena salads being winners for me, but everything we had was great! The pizza oven was unfortunately broken when we were there, but this would be a great addition to get back on the menu for a wider selection. The team work extremely hard to make sure everyone has what they need and want, to keep the pool side tidy and to make sure your stay is the best it could be; Mike makes a fab

First thing I’ll say about this place. It’s stunning. The views are spectacular no matter where you are staying. Built into the mountain side the vistas are nothing short of breathtaking. We stayed in Room 30 which had its own pool, something I’d highly recommend. Watching the climbers from the pool, an amazing way to waste 30 mins without realising. The main pool area, was also great. The pool is huge but doesn’t have a deep end. It’s always clean as was our room pool. But by far and away the most impressive thing about this place are the staff. The Reception( Eva helping to organise and deliver an exceptional birthday cake for our daughter), the waiting staff ( especially Mike, Eleni and Panos) and the bar staff ( thank you Costa) were amazing and could never do enough. The kids specifically recommended the milkshakes, saying they had to be tasted to be believed!! Overall a little slice of paradise. Highly recommend it.

We actually stayed in July 2022 but I forgot to write my review. Holiday was perfect. Hotel was spotless in all areas and pool guy cleaned the pool area for hours. The pool bar and restaurant was fabulous and the staff really looked after us all. Family of 7 with 3 kids. My husband was delighted as he was looked after particularly by the bar/restaurant guy who was so nice. Food was delicious. Pool was empty for hours in morning as a lot of people were late risers so we often had pool all to ourselves and that was in peak school holiday season too! We found no problem with sunbeds as we got up early with children but for late risers it was also fine as many were free till the afternoon. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as it’s a reasonable price and offers great value. For example we went to a hotel this year double the price which wasn’t as good. We had a room high up with great views so if you get the chance go high!
