Booked room with private onsen Child 6 y.o. will be an additional 3K yen (1 pax 1 night), despite the huge room and multiple futon. traditional, old style, very instagrammble. Service is top notch. Food is great but portion wise soso. English barrier here. have to use translation. Everything here is chargeable. Strictly for couples really. Nothing for kids.

Very nice room and place. Love the amenities. The only problem is the staffs could barely speak English. Communication was a big issue and you definitely need Google Translate . They told us they would come at 6pm to convert our bed to futon but we didn’t see them at all.

Located at outskirt of Kyoto. If you are taking public transport, you need to take the JR to Kameoka station and there is a free shuttle bus from the hotel. However, you need to let the hotel know in advance if you need pick up service, they only have it for certain hours. Best way is to call or contact them via Facebook messenger. Very quiet and serene area. There's nothing much in the vicinity if you don't have a car. If you just want to relax and do nothing, then highly recommended. Do get the package with dinner and breakfast, otherwise there's not much around. The food is kaiseki style and tasty!

It is a bit of a distance, but since there is a shuttle bus, I got there comfortably! The hot springs were, needless to say, wonderful, but the dinner might not suit everyone's taste, so I recommend buying some food to bring with you.

I went there after seeing it on social media... but it was so bad. I felt like I was fooled by it. As soon as I walked in, it smelled like an old museum, and the atmosphere was gloomy... It wasn't at all the warm and lively atmosphere I'd seen on social media. It might have been a weekday, so there weren't many people, but the smell of museum naphthalene and cigarette smoke from the room was constant, even when I was trying to sleep. The building was old and wooden. I expected it to be cold since it was a ryokan, but it was really, really cold. Kaiseki... I've had it twice at other ryokans, but this one was really bad. Even the sashimi had a fishy smell... All the side dishes had a fishy smell... The sukiyaki was too salty... The dinner photos and videos showed yakiniku, but they served sukiyaki because I hadn't made a reservation. Even the miso soup was tasteless. Everything was salty. The dinner kaiseki really didn't suit my taste, so I couldn't eat much. Breakfast was a bit better than the miso soup the day before, so I barely managed to eat. The open-air bath made it a little better. It was really nice to be able to soak in the snow while soaking in the open air because it was snowing heavily, but it didn't have the natural open air bath that I've experienced at other ryokans, so it didn't have that ryokan-specific hot spring feeling. The indoor bath was pretty good. Also, the ice cream that I could eat as often as I wanted after the bath didn't taste good. The unlimited ice cream I had at other ryokans was so delicious that I ate 12 pieces... but this one was so bad that I could barely eat one. Anyway.. I went there after seeing it on SNS and it was a total failure ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Our next accommodation was Umekoji Kadensho, and it was much~ better! The ryokan-style hotel I stayed at last time.. Onyado Nono Ryokan.. I personally recommend it!! Don't be fooled by SNS!!!!

The service was wonderful and friendly. The Kyoto kaiseki meal was delicious. The hot springs were clean. They were very accommodating and helpful with the shuttle bus schedule.
